  1. Important Activities 
  • The Institute’s fifth Regional Centre at Mohali, Punjab was inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Minister for Women and Child Development on 14th January, 2019. Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi. Shri Ajay Tirkey, Additional Secretary and other senior officials of MWCD were also present during the inaugural function.  
  • Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, organised a three days Women of India Organic Festival at Leisure Valley, Chandigarh from 12-14 January, 2019. Shri B.L. Sharma, Secretary, Women and Child Development, UT Chandigarh and  Smt. Anuradha Chagti, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India inaugurated the  “Women of India Organic Festival” Hon’ble Minister Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi and Mrs. Kirron Kher, Chief Guest also visited the Organic Festival at Chandigarh. NIPCCD provided the logistic support.

  1. Capacity Building on Nutrition for functionaries of   Anganwadi Service Scheme, Karnataka (In Collaboration with DWCD, GOK) was organized from 2-4 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: train the supervisors of ICDS on right to food and nutrition security; orient the functionaries on the nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive programmes by the government; build skills in nutritional assessment, analysis and documentation; provide a forum to deliberate on challenges in the implementation of programmes; analyze and debate various strategies to prevent and combat malnutrition among Children. Nineteen participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Training for DPOs and CDPOs of UP on Recent Development on Women and Child Development (Umbrella ICDS) was organized from 2-4 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: orient the participants about recent developments on Women and Child Development under Umbrella ICDS; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing Anaganwadi Services Scheme; review the implementation of the Anganwadi Services Scheme in Uttar Pradesh and role of DPOs and CDPOs in implementation of Anganwadi Services Scheme. Thirty five participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Consultation Meet on Safety and Security of Women in Public Places was organized from 3-4 January, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss threats to safety and security of women in public places and its consequences; share best practices of government and non-government initiatives in ensuring safety and security of women in public places; discuss the role of various stakeholders in prevention of crimes/violence against women in public places; and evolve strategies for creating safe public places for women to reduce victimization and advance gender equality. Twenty participants attended the consultation meet.

 

  1. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized from 7-11 January, 2019 at Maharashtra by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services.   1. Orientation Programme on Programmes for Women and Children for the Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organisations was organized from 7-11 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: apprise the participants on the status of Women & Children; orient the participants on key issues relating to women and children; orient the participants on various policy and programmes initiatives of Government relating to women and children; and discuss their role in addressing the problems of women and children in their operational areas. Twenty six participants attended the training programme.
  1. Two Refresher Courses for the CDPOs were organized from 7-11 January, 2019 at Regional Centres Guwahati and Lucknow with the main objectives to: assess the training needs of CDPOs/ACDPOs; provide a forum for sharing experiences in implementation of ICDS programme; appraise CDPOs/ACDPOs of recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care, and sharpen communication, counselling and managerial skills of CDPOs/ACDPOs. In all, thirty nine participants attended the refresher course.
  1. Orientation Training on Child Rights & Protection for the Functionaries of CCIs (Superintendent, Case Workers, Probation Officer, Welfare Officer, Coordinator, etc.) was organized from 7-11  January, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection and ground realities; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act; and discuss their role and responsibilities under ICPS and challenges faced by them in providing quality services to children, and, evolve strategies for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS. Thirty two participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized from 7 January –7 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ASS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS/ASS scheme. Thirty one participants attended the Job Training Course.

 

  1. Workshop on Implementation of Beti Bachao & Beti Padhao for Task   Force Members was organized on 8 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: understand the status of implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme of MWCD, GOI; assess the extent of networking and convergence of services among different agencies for ensuring survival and development of girl child; and document and share good practices adopted by the stakeholders. Fifteen participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Workshop on Implementation of the J.J Act & ICPS for Functionaries of District Child Protection Units (DCPUs) was organized from 10-11 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: share the present status of implementation of the J.J Act, 2015, and ICPS in the States, share the experiences about child care and protection to use at the field level and challenges faced; and evolve effective strategies and solutions for better implementation of JJ Act & ICPS. Forty nine participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Sensitization Training on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was organized from 14-15 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: provide guidance and awareness about the various schemes, policies and laws for the education and safety of the girl child; sensitize and train the functionaries as catalysts for social change and to mobilize the community for its engagement for improving the CSR, Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) and enrolment & retention of girl child in schools; provide information and training for better inter-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence at district/block/grass-root levels; and orient the trainers about planning process of preparation of district action plan & advocacy campaign for social and behaviour change. Thirty seven participants attended the training programmes.

 

  1. Four Training Programmes of DPOs and CDPOs of 15 districts on Scheme for Adolescent Girls was organized on 11 January 2019; 17 January 2019; 18 January 2019; 28 January 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop knowledge and understanding of functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme particularly CDPOs and DPOs to strengthen implementation of Scheme for Adolescent Girls in the state. In all, hundred participants attended these training programmes.

 

  1. Capacity Building on Decentralized Planning, Management and Monitoring Mechanisms for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 21- 23 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: learn salient features of decentralized planning and management in respect of preparation of Annual Programme Implementation Plan (APIP); understand the mechanisms of convergence with allied departments at different levels for strengthening quality services under the scheme; discuss about supervision and  monitoring mechanisms of the GOI and States/UTs in effective implementation of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS; and know different managerial skills & develop action plan for effective implementation of Anganwadi Services Project. Thirty one participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Training of Master Trainers of Elected Women Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions was organized from 14-16 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: deliberate upon issues related to empowerment of women and children and functioning of PRIs; discuss flagship programmes of Central and State Government for women, children and marginalized groups; impart knowledge on legislations for the protection of the vulnerable; provide practical know-how to monitor asset creation and public works in the villages and process of participatory planning in local governance; and discuss recent developments related to dry dairy farming and e-banking, cashless transactions etc. and enable women to identify their leadership potential to contribute effectively as change agents. Twenty participants attended the master training programme.

 

  1. Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organized on 19 January, 2019 by Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parents’ skill to play an active role in helping children with various psycho-social problems. Ninety nine participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Refresher Course for CDPOs was organized from 21-25 January, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: update the participants, their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; appraise them about the recent developments  in Anganwadi Service Scheme; review the implementation of  Anganwadi Service Scheme with regard to its various aspects; sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills; provide a forum for sharing of experiences to the participants; and assess skill specific training needs of CDPOs. Fourteen participants attended the refresher course.

 

  1. Workshop on Prevention of Gender Biased Sex Selective Elimination and Female Infanticide was organized from 29-31 January, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants about status of girl child  in India with emphasis on gender biased sex selective elimination and female infanticide; sensitize the participants about the consequences of declining sex ratio and child sex ratio; familiarize the participants with various Government policies, rights, legislations and schemes related to girl child; and provide a forum to discuss and evolve strategies for  prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination. Twenty three participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Orientation Training on Management of Malnutrition for Functionaries of ICDS/NHM/Civil Society Organizations was organized from 22-24 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on status of malnutrition in women and children of Southern States; sensitize the participants on causes, consequences and management of under nutrition in women and children; sensitize them on the importance of nutrition in achieving SDGs; apprise them on programmes, policies and legislations addressing nutrition in India; orient them on the methods of assessing nutritional status in women and children; and appraise them on the strategies of interdepartmental networking and coordinating with all Government Departments to build inter-sectoral linkages on health and nutrition issues. Fifty participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Training Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace for Govt. Officials was organized from 22-24 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Twenty nine participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Sensitization Programme for ICDS officials and trainers on Early detection, prevention and management of children with special needs was organized from 21-23 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the participants about different types of disabilities and disorders among children; develop their skills for early detection and prevention of disabilities among children; facilitate the participants in understanding the role of ICDS functionaries in prevention and management of disabilities; and make the participants understand about the integration of differently- abled children into the mainstream of society. Twenty five participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Course on Management Information System in ICDS for Statistical Assistants of NE Region including Orissa and West Bengal was organized from 28-30 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the revised MIS in ICDS, acquaint them of their role in the monitoring and also in achievements of goals and equip them with skills in data management and analysis. Forty three participants attended the orientation course.
  2. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme (Tripura) was organized from 28 January- 1 February, 2019 at Tripura by Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in Anganwadi services; and work jointly and formulate action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of services. Forty eight participants attended the vertical training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Training on the SHW at Workplace Act, 2013 for the officials of SWD/ WCD Departs was organized from 30-31 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize officials to the nature and trends of sexual harassment at work places; orient the participants to the salient features and provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the relevant rules; make them aware about the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Act; and appraise the participating officials about their roles and responsibilities. Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Training for DPOs and CDPOs of UP on Recent Development on Women and Child Development (Umbrella ICDS) was organized from 9-11 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objective to: orient the participants about recent developments on Women and Child Development under Umbrella ICDS; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; review the implementation of the Anganwadi Services Scheme in Uttar Pradesh and role of DPOs and CDPOs in implementation of Anganwadi Services Scheme. Thirty three participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Training on Implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 for Members of Juvenile Justice Boards was organized from 14-15 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: review the implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 in the States; discuss the issues, challenges and gaps in the care, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children in need of care and protection; and come up with suggestions for structural and functional improvement in the child protection system. Thirty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Induction Training of Supervisors was organized from 14-18 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: appraise the newly deputed supervisors with the functioning of Anganwadi services scheme so that they implement the scheme accordingly and give knowledge and information about Anganwadi Services Scheme and its services. Twenty three participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized from 7 January- 6 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: orient the trainee CDPOs about ICDS programme - its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-à-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme;Share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects.orient them on New WHO Growth Standards and use of MCP Cards orient participants about new schemes – SABLA & IGMSY orient participants on Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS. Twenty Nine participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Programme on Research Methodology and Statistical Analysis   in Social Sciences was organized from 16-18 January, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: statistical analysis in social sciences; enhance their knowledge and skill on different components of research methodology; and sharpen their understanding on appropriate use of statistical tools and techniques. Forty one participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized from 28 January- 26 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ASS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS/ASS scheme. Twenty seven participants attended the job training course.

Three Capacity Building Training Programmes on Nutrition for functionaries of Anganwadi Service Scheme, Karnataka (In Collaboration with DWCD, GOK) was organized from 4-6 February, 2019; 7-9 February, 2019; 11-13 February 2019; at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: train the supervisors of ICDS on right to food and nutrition security; orient the functionaries on the nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive; programmes by the government; build skills in nutritional assessment, analysis and documentation; provide a forum to deliberate on challenges in the implementation of programmes; analyze and debate various strategies to prevent and combat malnutrition among Children. In all, sixty nine participants attended the training programmes.

 

4. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized from 4-8 February 2019 at Goa by Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors and Health Functionaries to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education at the Project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS and Health functionaries at Project; level for quality improvement in delivery of ICDS services; work jointly and formulate action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of services. Sixty five participants attended the training programme.

 

5. Refresher Course for CDPOs was organized from 4-8 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: review the implementation of restructured & strengthened programme under Umbrella ICDS  in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of  experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and Sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. Seventeen participants attended the course.

 

6. Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized from 4-8 February, 2019at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: assess the training needs of CDPOs/ACDPOs; provide a forum for sharing experiences in implementation of ICDS programme; appraise CDPOs/ACDPOs of recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen communication, counselling and managerial skills of CDPOs/ACDPOs. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level  ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programmewas organized from 4-8 February, 2019 at Daman & Diu by Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty five participants attended the training programme.

 

8. Training Programme on Counselling Interventions for Children Affected by Trauma, Abuse and Neglect was organized from 4 – 15 February 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand the linkages between neglect, abuse and trauma and its impact on the development of children; orient them to the various counselling interventions for addressing the psycho-social needs of children; provide opportunities for hands on training to sharpen the skills and attitudes for working with children; expose them to the field situations and innovative approaches being tried out in the field. Twenty nine participants attended the training programme.

 

9. Training Programme on Planning and Designing a Project Proposal for Executives of Voluntary Organizationswas organized from 6-8 February , 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on the need and importance of a project; enhance knowledge base and skills of the participants to the techniques of planning, designing and presenting effective project proposals; develop skills in cost estimation and working out mechanism for monitoring and sustainability for a project; and analyse pitfalls in planning and designing project proposals.Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

10. Workshop on incorporating Gender issues in Disaster Management was organized from 6-8 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: develop a greater understanding of the differential impact of disasters and coping strategies on women/girls, men/boys; underscore the importance of gender analysis by focusing on consequences of seemingly gender sensitive interventions; identify key gender related issues to be considered in disaster management phases; and evolve strategies for integrating gender perspective in the overall planning of disaster management. Thirty two participants attended the workshop.

 

11. Training on Recent Developments in Child Rights and Child Protection for DCPOs/Social Worker/Counsellors of DCPUs was organized from 6-8 February, 2019 at Regional Centre  Lucknow with the main objectives to: discus understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Act 2015 and Model Rules, 2016; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of DCPOs/Social Worker/Counsellors of DCPUs; understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act. Thirty three participants attended the training programme.

 

12-14. 16. Training on JJ Act 2015 and ICPS for the Stakeholders of Goa (in collaboration with Govt of Goa) was organized from 11-12 February 2019 at Goa by Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and its Rules; create clarity and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of different; stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Act; provide an overview of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS); create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options. Eighty two participants attended the training programme.

 

17. Sensitisation Programme on Conceptualizing and Executing a Project for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organized from 11-15 February, 2019at Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on the need and importance of project; enhance the knowledge of the participants in conceptualizing and executing a project; develop skills in cost estimation and working out mechanisms for monitoring, evaluation and sustainability of a project. Twenty nine participants attended the training programme.

 

18. Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized 11-15 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: provide a forum for sharing of experiences; appraise them on the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development; sharpen the skills in communication, counseling and management. Sixteen participants attended the refresher course.

 

19. Induction Training of Supervisors was organized from 11-15 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: appraise the newly deputed supervisors with the functioning of Anganwadi services scheme so that they implement the scheme accordingly and give knowledge and information about Anganwadi Services Scheme and its services, so that newly deputed supervisors can perform their role and responsibilities effectively. Twenty four participants attended the induction training programme.

 

20. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level  ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized from 11-15 February, 2019 at Rajasthan by Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services.Thirty six participants attended the training programme.

 

 

21. Workshop on Capacity Building of Women through Leadership Development was organized from 13-15 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati at Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about evolution of leadership and its relevance for women; enable the participants about the scope and existing mechanism that foster leadership among women; discuss the role of change agents in developing skills and capacities of women for taking up leadership roles; and evolve strategies and interventions for leadership development among women through networking. Sixteen participants attended the workshop.

 

22. Orientation Programme for ICDS Functionaries on Programmes and Laws Related to Women and Children was organized from13-15 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: orient participants on various programmes and laws related to women and children in India; and discuss the role of Child Development Project Officers under different programmes and laws related to women and children. Nine participants attended the training programme.

 

23. Orientation Workshop for Members of JJBs was organized from 14 -15 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015; create clarity and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of members of JJBs and different personnel involved in the implementation of the Act; facilitate sharing of best practices for strengthening implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; provide an overview of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS); learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; and facilitate the speedy disposal of cases. Twenty nine participants attended the workshop.

 

24. Orientation Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for Police/SJPUs was organized from 14-15 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the salient features of POCSO Act, 2012;sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act;enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; discuss about difficulties/ problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and ways and means of addressing these problems. Thirty eight participants attended the workshop.

 

25. Training on Ensuring Food Safety and Maintaining Food Safety Standards in Supplementary Nutrition in ICDS- In collaboration with Department of Community Medicine, KMC, Manipal was organized from 14-16 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of safe food handling practices highlighting its importance in health and nutrition wellbeing; orient the participants to the food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; get an insight into food fortification in ICDS; get an insight into food adulteration and the laws regulating the food safety; anddiscuss the role of ICDS functionaries in ensuring food safety at AWCs. Thirty four participants attended the training programme.

 

26. Orientation Training Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place for Govt. Officials was organized from 18-20 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Thirty six participants attended the training programme.

 

27. Orientation Training on Child Rights & Protection for the Functionaries of CCIs (Superintendent, Case Workers, Probation Officer, Welfare Officer, Coordinator, etc) was organized from 18-22 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection and ground realities; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Model Rules 2016; Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012; discuss their role and responsibilities under ICPS and challenges faced by them in providing quality services to children; and evolve strategies for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS. Thirty six participants attended the training programme.

 

28. Orientation training on Supportive Interventions for Children with Learning and Behavioural Problems was organized from 18-22 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: enable the teachers to understand the challenges faced by children in contemporary society and the role of schools in supporting their development; orient them to the various learning and behavioural difficulties in children; enhance the ability of the teachers to identify early symptoms of learning and behaviour problems in children; and critically apprise them with the strategies to promote emotional well-being and achievement in children. Fifty two participants attended the training programme.

 

29. Workshop on Monitoring and Supervision for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 20-22 February, 2019 was organized at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: provide an overview of  monitoring& supervision system in Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS, as also, an insight  into revised MIS; discuss the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in monitoring and supervision of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS, share the experiences & challenges faced and identifying best practices; and evolve effective strategies for better monitoring and supervision of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS. Seventeen participants attended the workshop.

Skill Training Programme on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for Psychologists and Counselors was organized from 20-22 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: discuss different school of thought on Behaviour models of human nature; knowledge on cognitive behavioristic models, techniques and their use;developing CBT skills for coping strategies at the time of crises in continuing life. Thirteen participants attended the training programme.

 

33. Parental Workshop on “Parental support needed by children during the stages of early childhood” was organized from 25 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the parents about the needs of children during early childhood; and acquaint them about appropriate parenting skills during this period. Two hundred and twenty seven participants attended the workshop.

 

34. Orientation Training on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women was organized from 25-27 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective about basic gender concepts and gender equality; enhance the understanding of the participants on various aspects of women’s empowerment including social, economic, political, legal empowerment etc.; apprise them about the policies and programmes of Government for women empowerment; and provide knowledge and skills on mainstreaming gender in development programmes to enlarge the scope of women empowerment and gender equality. Sixteen participants attended the training programme.


35. Sensitization Programme on Safety and Security of Children in CCIs and Educational Institutions was organized from 26-27 February, 2019 at Kolkata by Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss emerging issue of sexual offences committed against children and support for child victims under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding about the role of functionaries of child care institutions and staff of educational institutions in supporting implementation of the Act; and enable them to ensure safety and security measures for children. Thirty six participants attended the training programme.

 

36. Training Programme for the Anganwadi services Scheme (ASS) Officials on Child Right and Protection Issues was organized from 26-28 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/legal provisions and issues relating to the development, care, protection and rights of children; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to children; and  discuss the role of grass root level ICDS functionaries in accelerating the development process with regard to children. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

37. Orientation Training for Protection Officers under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005was organized from 26-28 February, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on women's issues, violence against women and domestic violence; orient them on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and schemes for women under MWCD; and apprise them on their role and responsibilities under PWDV Act, 2005.Twenty four participants attended the training programme.

 

38. Skill Training on Preparation of Low Cost ECE/PSE Material for CDPOs/Supervisors was organized from 26-28 February 2019 at Daman & Diu by Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize ICDS Functionaries on the importance of the TLM in the Early Childhood Care and Development of Children; provide hands on experience on preparing TLM which is appropriate to foster all round development among children; sensitize participants on the value of preparing TLM which are prepared from low cost/ no cost culturally available resources. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.

 

39. Sensitization Programme on Safety and Security of Children in CCIs and Educational Institutions was organized from 28 February-1 March, 2019 at West Bengal by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the functionaries of CCIs about the safety and security measures mentioned in the JJ Act 2015 and POCSO Act 2012; to orient the participants about their job responsibilities related to safety and security of children in CCIs; to develop strategies for effective coordination between police and other agencies implementing POCSO Act, 2012 and JJ Act, 2015. Forty five participants attended the training programme.

 

40. Skill Training on Growth Monitoring and MCP Card was organized from 28 February-2 March, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient participants on health and nutrition issues linked to MCP Card, its usage and implementation; and equip them with necessary skills to use new WHO growth chart, and joint MCP card in ICDS. Orientation Programme on Child Rights and ICPS was organized from 25-26 April, 2019 at Lakshadweep by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding on present scenario of children in the country in the context of child rights and child protection; orient the participants on salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 & its Rules 2016; vis-à-vis ICPS; discuss the role of various stockholders in effective implementation of JJ Act & ICPS; and evolve effective strategies and solutions for ensuring better child rights and child protection services in the UT. Training Programme for Members of SJPUs and Probation Officers on JJ System and ICPS was organized from 24-26 April, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore orient the participants on UNCRC and Constitutional safeguards for children; enable them to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; create clarity and understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Act; and ensure speedy disposal of cases and orient them to the main features of ICPS: its components and approaches. Fifty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place was organized from 29-30 April, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Twenty eight participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Training on Counselling skills for Institutions Providing Care to Distressed Women was organized from 30 April – 02 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: provide insight into the manifestation of violence against women in India; existing policies, support services and legal safeguard for women; develop understanding about different approaches and types of counselling interventions for women in distress; enhance counselling skills for providing psychosocial support to distressed women. Thirty five participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Parent Workshop in CCC was organized from 30 April, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: facilitate in orienting the parents of children attending the CCC to the play-way method of teaching/learning children adopted at the CCC; Create awareness about the process of running of CCC; role of Mother’s Committee and selection of Head (Pradhan), Deputy Head (Upp-Pradhan) and two members for overseeing the activities of CCC. Twenty two participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. E-Learning Awareness Programme for students of Post Graduate and Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition on E Learning Certificate Course on Infant and Young Child Feeding was organized on 30th April 2019 at New Delhi with the main objectives to: facilitate online registration process in the IYCF course and explain the processes inbuilt for skill development; address any problems/ challenges in completion of the programme and; sensitize the students about IYCF practices and its relevance to Child Survival as well as Development. Twenty five participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Programme on Child Rights and ICPS was organized from 25-26 April, 2019 at Lakshadweep by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding on present scenario of children in the country in the context of child rights and child protection; orient the participants on salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 & its Rules 2016; vis-à-vis ICPS; discuss the role of various stockholders in effective implementation of JJ Act & ICPS; and evolve effective strategies and solutions for ensuring better child rights and child protection services in the UT. Fifty six participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Awareness Programme on Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 & its Rules,2016 for Multi-stakeholders was organized on 30 April, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the ICPS functionaries about salient features of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Model Rules, 2016;develop an understanding of their role and responsibilities in implementation of the Act and Rules; and discuss with them about various critical issues being faced by them in implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Model Rules, 2016. Fifty one participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Workshop on the Implementation of JJ Act 2015 for the Chairpersons/Members of Child Welfare Committee was organized on 29-30 April, 2019 at Regional Centre, Mohali with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the participants regarding recent developments in child rights and child protection; and discuss the role of Chairperson and Members of Child Welfare Committees in implementation of various legislations.

1. Sensitization Programme on Holistic Development of Adolescents for Civil Society Organization was organized from 01-03 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop perspective on socio- economic condition of the adolescents among the participants; orient them about physical and psychological changes and challenges of adolescents; apprise the participants to educational, reproductive health and nutritional issues of adolescents and sensitize them to their role in convergence of services for healthy development of adolescents. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.

 

2. Training Programme on Life Skills Education on Empowering Tribal Adolescents for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations/Ashram Shalas of Western States was organized from 01-03 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize participants on Life Skill Education as an Emerging Need for tribal adolescents; orient them about challenges of tribal adolescents; dimensions of Life Skill Education and Its Impact on Adolescent Reproductive Sexual Health (ARSH); enhance Capacities of Participants on Approaches to Life Skill Education using as a Tool for Empowering Adolescents of tribal areas. Thirty participants attended the training programme.

 

3. Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs  was organized from 1-30 May, 2019 by Headquarters at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient participants  about the Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS - its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-à-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in the matter of coordination, supervision and management of Anganwadi Services project; discuss about recent developments and new thrusts areas  under Umbrella ICDS; apprise the participants about various aspects of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) including nutrition and health; share the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; enhance their requisite skills for guiding grass-root level functionaries on PSE, Health & Nutrition and Community Participation; and equip them to monitor and supervise the activities of Anganwadi Services and develop effective leadership, supportive supervision and  management of Anganwadi Services projects. Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

4. Skill Training on Growth Monitoring and use of Mother and Child Protection Card for Trainers and Functionaries of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 6-10 May, 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: orient the participants about new MCP card and use of MCP card; familiarize participants with changes in the new MCP with respect to old MCP card; orient participants on the health and nutrition issues linked to MCP card; usage and implementation of MCP Card as a NHED tool for Supervisors and AWW;  enable participants to impart meaningful trainings to Supervisors and AWW on new MCP Card and Growth Monitoring. Thirty two participants attended the training programme.

 

5. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized from 6-10 May, 2019 by Headquarters at Gujarat with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Sixty participants attended the training programme.

 

6. Orientation Training on Counselling for Wardens/In-charges of Hostels of Government Residential Schools was organized from 6-10 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the developmental needs of children; build their abilities to manage children with learning, emotional and behavioural problems; familiarize the participants with techniques of counselling and sensitize them about their role in facilitating holistic development of children. Thirty eight participants attended the training programme.

 

7. Orientation Programme on Child Protection Issues for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organized from 7- 9 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection and ground realities; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act; discuss their role and responsibilities under ICPS and challenges faced by them in providing quality services to children; and evolve strategies for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS. Thirty participants attended the programme.

 

8. Orientation Training Programme for Legal cum Probation Officers (DCPU) and Probation Officers of CCIs was organized 13 – 15 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: provide Legal cum Probation Officers with basic knowledge and skills to respond to children in difficult circumstances; develop their knowledgebase on the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; develop understanding on various issues concerning juveniles in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing legislation to address these issues; help them to learn the main features of ICPS and its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS; explain the specific role of Probation Officer as laid down in JJ Act & rules; enhance their skills in effective implementation of JJ Act and understanding child psychology, dealing with children effectively and Case work. Thirty four participants attended the training programme.

 

9-10. Two Orientation Training on Child Rights & Protection for the Functionaries on CCIs were organized from 13-17 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati and from 28 – 31 May, 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection and ground realities; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012; discuss their role and responsibilities under ICPS and challenges faced by them in providing quality services to children, and, evolve strategies for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS. Sixty nine participants attended the training programmes.

 

11. Training Programme on Gender Equality through Entrepreneurship Development for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organized from 14 – 16 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand entrepreneurship environment; enable the participants to assist start-up actions for women empowerment; understand mentorship programs in collaboration with government and private organizations to foster innovations. Nineteen participants attended the training programme.

 

12. Orientation Training on Adoption Regulations, 2017 for Functionaries of Specialized Adoption Agencies (SAAs) was organized from 15-17 May, 2019 with the main objectives to: orient the participations regarding Adoption Regulations, 2016 Issued by Ministry of Women and Child Development; discuss the role of SAA functionaries under Adoption Regulations, 2016. Twenty six participants attended the training programme.

 

13. Vertical Training Programme on Care of New Born and Infant & Young Child Feeding was organized from 15-17 May 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: enhance the counselling skills of ICDS functionaries on IYCF; impart technical knowledge on Care of New Born and Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices; demonstrate IYCF counselling and problem solving skills for breastfeeding and correct complementary feeding practices; impart skills for usage of Mother and Child Protection card. Twenty six participants attended the training programme.

 

14. Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children was organized from 15-17 May, 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants about the nature and magnitude of trafficking of women and children; impart knowledge on legal framework; familiarize them about the role of Governmental and NGOs to address the problem; evolve a strategy for prevention, protection and rehabilitation of woman/child survivors of trafficking; and analyze the role of NGOs in prevention of trafficking of women and children. Thirty four participants attended the programme.

 

15. Sensitization Training Programme on Behavioural Problems in Children for Functionaries of CCIs was organized from 20-22 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: sensitized the participants on the common behavioural problems of children in Institutional settings; orient the participants on child psychology and child development; acquaint them on  the common behavioural problems in children and its management; and to orient them on counselling skills for dealing with children in the CCIs. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.

 

16. Induction Training for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized from 20- 24 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants to various components of ASS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS/ASS scheme. Twenty eight participants attended the training programme.

 

17. Orientation Training Programme for Chairpersons & Members of Child Welfare Committees was organized from 20-24 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children and challenges faced by them; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 & POCSO Act 2012; orient the participants about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; and create an understanding among the participants about the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration as well as non-institutional services under the Act. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

18. Capacity Building of the District SDGs Officials on Maternal Adolescent and Child Nutrition was organized from 20-24 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: build the capacity of the officials on child nutrition, adolescent nutrition and maternal nutrition; acquire the skills on planning meals and counselling; and enable the officials to monitor and implement multi-sectoral results based on nutrition action plans in the districts in collaboration with various stakeholders. Fifteen participants attended the programme.

 

19. Workshop on Combating Violence against Women and Girls was organized from 21-23 May, 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective among participants about dynamics of gender based violence; provide insight on the policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women and girls to curb the problem; provide a forum for sharing best practices to provide services to survivors of violence including counselling, livelihood and rehabilitation and; evolve strategies for combating violence against women and girls. Forty two participants attended the workshop.

 

20. Training on Counselling for the Counsellors of Family Counselling Centres was organized from 22-24 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: acquaint the trainees with essential elements of counselling; equip them with techniques of counselling; and introduce to them alternative approaches to counselling. Twenty one participants attended the training programme.

 

21. Orientation Course on Counselling for the Counsellors of One Stop Centre/Asha Jyoti Kendra and Family Counselling Centres was organized from 27-29 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants with the situation of women affected by violence; acquaint the participants with essential elements of counselling; equip them with techniques of counselling; and facilitate participants to acquire skills of counselling and strengthen their   overall abilities for effective delivery of services. Thirty four participants attended the course.

 

22. Sensitization Programme for Prevention of Witch Hunting for NGOs of NE Region was organized from 27-29 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the NGO personnel to the problem of witch hunting, its causes and different facets; familiarize them to the consequences of witch hunting and acquaint the participants with the existing legal provision and the roles to be   played by NGOs for prevention of witch hunting. Nineteen participants attended the programme.

 

23. Refresher Training for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organized from 27-31 May 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: orient and update their knowledge of the Instructors of  AWTCs/MLTCs about the new schemes like National Nutrition Mission(PoshanAbhiyan); scheme for Adolescent Girls(SAG),Rapid Reporting System for the Scheme for Adolescent Girls(RRS) PMMVY, ECCE New Curriculum and Policy, RashtriyaBalSwasthyaKaryakram(RBSK), Mission Indradhanush, Diet Diversification, Direct Benefit Transfer Schemes, AWC Construction etc, of MWCD; enhance trainer’s skills new participatory, interactive training techniques, session planning and classroom management skills; share them about effective monitoring & supervision techniques and the guidelines issued by MWCD. Twenty four participants attended the training programme.

 

24. Orientation Programme for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations on Monitoring and Evaluation of Developmental  Programmes for Women and Children was organized from 27-31 May, 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of monitoring and evaluation in social development programmes; apprise the participants to the latest methods/techniques of monitoring and evaluation of the programmes; and enhance the skills of participants for quality monitoring and supervision of women and child development programmes. Nineteen participants attended the programme.

 

25.  Training Programme on Child Rights and Child Protection  for Functionaries of District Child Protection Unit (DCPUs) was organized from 27-31 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: review the Situation of children in India; orient on Constitutional Provisions and legal safeguards for protection of Children in India; create awareness on Institutional framework for the realization of Child rights; and develop skills to organize advocacy and awareness programmes on child rights. Forty two participants attended the training programme.

 

26.Skill Training for Officials of Anganwadi Services on Preparation of Low-cost/ No-cost TLM for Early Childhood Education and Development was organized from 27-31 May, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ Supervisors to recent initiatives in ECCD; provide hands on experience on preparation and use of low cost/ no cost TLM using locally available resources for ECED; and build the abilities of the participants to guide and supervise the frontline workers. Twenty three participants attended the training programme.

  

27. Sensitization Programme on Holistic Development of Adolescent Girls and Family Life Education for District Coordinators of Nehru Yuva Kendras was organized from 29-31 May, 2019 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of the issues relating to adolescent health and family life education; discuss the existing strategies on adolescent health and development; and enable the participants to develop skills for effective communication. Twenty three participants attended the training programme.

 

 

28.  Review cum Contact Programme for Participants registered under the Online E-Learning Certificate Course on Infant and Young Child Feeding was organized from 29-31 May 2019 by Headquarters at New Delhi with the main objectives to: enhance the counselling skills of ICDS functionaries on IYCF; impart practical knowledge on Care of New Born and Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices; demonstrate IYCF counselling and problem solving skills for breastfeeding and correct complementary feeding practices; impart skills for usage of Mother and Child Protection card. 29. Meet on Juvenile System for SCPCR/Senior Officials working on Child Rights and Child Protection was organized from 30-31 May 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: discuss the issues and challenges of ensuring child protection; discuss on the status of implementation of child protection services and role of various stakeholders in providing safety net for children; and develop effective strategies for supporting supervision and monitoring by SCPCR. A. Important Activities

The Institute organized 5th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019 at the behest of Ministry of Women and Child Development.  Minister of State (WCD) Sushri Debasree Chaudhuri inaugurated the programme and highlighted the importance of yoga in our life to be healthy. Shri Rabindra Panwar, Secretary, Shri Ajay Tirkey, Additional Secretary, Ms. Anuradha S. Chagti, Joint Secretary and other official from MWCD also participated in the yoga day. Nearly 300 (regular, contractual temporary staff in the Hqrs, and Regional Centres as well as children from CCIs) participated in the yoga held in the lawn of the Institute at 7.00 a.m.

1. Consultation Meet on National Resource Centre on Child Protection was organized on 01 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: collect, collate and make available resources and material in the field of child protection and provide technical information to stakeholders working under child protection services in the country; identify bottlenecks / challenges prevailing in the child protection field for further change in policies; prepare detailed recommendations for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of child protection services; and to document some of the Best Practices at the state level. Forty three participants attended the training programme.

 

2-4. Three Job Training Courses for CDPOs were organized by Regional Centres Bengaluru and Guwahati. Out of these, two courses were organised by RC (B) from 3 June – 3 July, 2019 and 10 June- 9 July, 2019 and one by RC (G) from 10 June- 9 July, 2019 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ASS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme; facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ASS scheme. In all eighty two participants attended these courses.

 

5. Orientation Training on Child Rights & Protection for the Functionaries of Child Care Institutions (CCIs) was organized from 10-13 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headqaurters with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection and ground realities; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012; discuss their role and responsibilities under ICPS and challenges faced by them in providing quality services to children, and, evolve strategies for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS. Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

6-10. Five Refresher Training Courses for CDPOs were organized by Headquarters and Regional Centres Bengaluru, Indore, Mohali and Lucknow. Out of these, one each course was organised by RC (B) & RC(I)  from 10 – 14 June, 2019, one each course by RC (M) & Headquarters from 17-21 June, 2019 and by Regional Centre Lucknow from 24-28 June, 2019 with the main objectives to: provide a forum for sharing experiences; appraise them on the recent developments and trends in Anganwadi Services Scheme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development; improve their skills in community education, communication, management. In all, ninety two participants attended these refresher programmes.

 

11. Training on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 10 – 14 June 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding; build counselling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; learn growth monitoring and measuring; and practice IYCF counseling with emphasis on correct positioning, helping mothers to breast feed through field practice. Twenty nine participants attended the training programme.

 

12. Orientation Training on Counselling Techniques for Social Workers of CCIs was organized from 11-12 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient participants to develop understanding to the needs of children in terms of their care and protection especially child psychology and related issues; facilitate them to identify and analyse the problems of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; and prepare them to effectively deal with the children in a child friendly way. Thirty participants attended the training programme.

 

13. Parental Workshop on “Helping Children towards Academic Excellence” was organized on 12 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop skills among the parents to help children achieve their potential whilst understanding the finer nuances of their needs. One hundred and one participants attended the workshop.

 

14. Skill Training Programme on Assessment of Child Learning Outcomes for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services was organized from 12-14 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: appraise the Anganwadi functionaries to the concept of child learning outcomes; make them understand about the need importance and process of regular assessment of children to ensure adequate learning outcome of children; help them to visualize the link between the quality of ECCE programme and child learning outcome; and develop the skill of ICDS functionaries for assessing children’s learning. Twenty five participants attended the training programme.

 

15. Workshop on Child Rights & Child Protection for Police personnel (Railway Protection Force) was organized from 13- 14 June 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: enhance understanding of child rights and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and its Rules, including the roles and responsibilities of the Police/ RPF in the implementation of the Act; discuss strategies and options available for dealing with vulnerable children passing through Indian Railway structures and Transport System; enhance skills of RPF personnel to communicate and understand children; deliberate the coordination mechanisms and ensuing challenges amongst the stakeholders for rescue and restoring children found by Railway Protection Force. Twenty nine participants attended the workshop.

 

16. Skill Training of IYCF and Counselling for Paramedical Personnel was organized on 14 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: orient the participants on IYCF practices; to orient participants on requisite counselling techniques; enable them to sensitize the primary and secondary caregivers of Pregnant Women and New Born Children about IYCF practice to restrain malnutrition and mortality. Forty one participants attended the training programme.

 

18. Orientation Training on E- Learning portal of MWCD was organized on 14 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: provide a common platform for skill up gradation, and exchange of ideas on various aspects of Child Development; familiarize the participants with the different procedures of registration, learning and evaluation through online mode; and to provide suggestive actions for improving the course curriculum, content and mode of learning. Twenty eight participants attended the training programme.

Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for Police/Law Enforcement Agencies  was organized from 17-18 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; discuss about difficulties/ problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and ways and means of addressing these problems. Twenty six participants attended the workshop.

 

20. Skill Development Training on Promoting Small Savings, Production and Marketing for Civil Society Organizations of Western States was organized from 17-21 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: orient participants about need and importance of Small Savings for women groups; impart skills on installation of small/medium Production Units; explore networking/marketing avenues; develop their capacity convergence with vocational institutions and Anganwadi Services; and enhance capabilities of participants on using PLA technique for promoting community based indigenous resources. Twenty four participants attended the training programme.

 

21. Workshop on Child Related Issues for Parents and Other Stakeholders was organized on 18 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on learning and behavioural problems of children; Enable them to identify children with learning and behaviour problems; and provide platform to share views and experience in dealing with children. Twenty nine participants attended the workshop.

 

22. Orientation Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace(Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013) was organized from 18-19 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Forty three participants attended the workshop.

 

23. Training Programme on Enhancement of Training Skills for CDPOs of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 19-21 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: build up the skills of CDPOs in planning and organizing training programme; apprise the participants about the concept and stages of training cycle; to familiarize the participants about various training approaches and methods; equip the trainees to select, prepare and use different training materials effectively. Thirteen participants attended the training programme.

 

24. Training Programme on Behaviour Change Communication on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for ICDS Functionaries and Voluntary Organizations was organized from 19-21 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: apprise participants on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; orient the participants on the principles of Behaviour Change Communication; develop skills for effective value addition of communication process for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; and enrich the participants to develop need based model for social and behavior change communication in their respective work places. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

25. Training of Master Trainers on ICDS CAS and Mother and Child Protection Card was organized from 19-21 June, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: train the participants on the new ICDS CAS software; provide technical information on Mother and Child Protection card and counselling caregivers. Sixty six participants attended the training programme.

 

26. Workshop on Empowerment of Adolescent Girls was organized from 19-21 June, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives: orient the participants about the needs of adolescents through their developmental cycle; develop an understanding about gender discrimination and its implications on overall  development and rights of adolescent girls; apprise the participants about various Government policies, programmes, legislations and initiatives for holistic development of adolescent girls; evolve strategies of intervention for empowerment of adolescent girls. Thirty participants attended the workshop.

 

27. E Learning Awareness Programme on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for Trained Nurses Association of India was organized on 20 June 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: facilitate online registration process in the IYCF course; explain the processes inbuilt for skill development and to address any problems/ challenges in completion of the programme; sensitize the nurses about IYCF practices and its relevance to child Survival as well as development. Twenty five participants attended the e-learning programme.

 

28. Orientation Training on Protection of Children from Sexual Offices Act 2012 and other legislations for the Rehabilitation Professionals of Special Schools was organized from 20-21, June 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient the participants about various legislations concerning children and Child Marriage Act, Child Labour Act, RTE Act, Mental Health Act etc; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provisions under POCSO Act, 2012; and develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights of children with special needs. Fifteen participants attended the training programme.

 

29. Orientation Training on Counselling Techniques for Counsellors and Social Workers under ICPS was organized from 24-26 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: orient participants about the situation of children in the country in context of juvenile conflict with law and children need of care & protection; acquaint the trainees with essential elements of counselling; to equip them with techniques of counselling; facilitate participants to acquire skills of counselling and strengthen their overall abilities for effective delivery of services to children of CCIs. Nineteen participants attended the training programme.

 

30. Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organized from 24-25 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; and develop an understanding of their role and problems encountered in implementation of the Act.; and field test on information kit on POCSO Act, 2012. Twenty three participants attended the workshop.

 

31. Sensitization Programme on Japanese Encephalitis/Acute EncephalitisSyndrome was organized from 24-25 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru by Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss the major causes, signs and symptoms, prevention and management of JE/AES; prepare action plans and micro planning procedures for combating JE/AES at various levels; discuss roles and responsibilities of different Ministries in prevention of JE/AES and community based management of underweight children. Thirty eight participants attended the programme.

  

32. Orientation Programme on Combating Violence against Women and Girls for College/ University Teachers was organized from 24-28 June, 2019 at Odisha with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective among participants about gender-based violence; provide insight on the policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women and girls to curb the problem; build capacities to provide services to survivors of violence including counselling, livelihood and rehabilitation; and evolve strategies for combating violence against women and children. Thirty three participants attended the training programme.

 

33. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized from 24-28 June, 2019 at Gujarat by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty seven participants attended the vertical training programme. 

 

34. Workshop on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women was organized from 25 – 27 June, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective about basic gender concepts and gender equality; enhance the understanding of the participants on various aspects of women’s empowerment including social, economic, political, legal empowerment etc.; share government and non/government initiatives for women empowerment; and evolve strategies to enlarge the scope of women empowerment and gender equality. Thirty six participants attended the workshop.

 

35. Orientation Programme on E Learning Course on Infant and Young Child Feeding was organized from 26-28 June, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge base of ICDS functionaries on IYCF; impart technical knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices through E Learning Mode; upgrade knowledge on IYCF counselling skills for promotion of breastfeeding  and age-appropriate complementary feeding; deepen the understanding related to problem-solving and counselling skills towards correct feeding practices. Nineteen participants attended the programme.

 

36. Training Programme for Police Officials, ICDS Functionaries and NGOs  on Protection of Women  from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was organized from 26-28 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: create awareness about the provisions of PWDV Act, 2005; and the roles and responsibilities of Police Officials and other stakeholders. Twenty eight participants attended the training programme.

 

37. Training on Recent Initiatives on Child Rights and Child Protection for  the ICPS Functionaries was organized from 26-28 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and Model Rules, 2016; familiarize the participants regarding recent initiatives in child rights and child protection and discuss about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of various functionaries under ICPS. Thirty two participants attended the training programme.

 

38. Orientation Programme for Legal cum Probation Officers of DCPUs was organized from 26-28 June, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their interlinkages; discuss the role of Probation Officers in implementation of ICPS under DCPU and CCls; explain the specific roles of Probation Officer as laid down in JJ Act & Rules; develop understanding on various issues concerning juveniles in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile; Justice System and the prevailing legislation to address these issues. Workshop on POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 for School Teachers was organized on 01 July, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 and role of implementing agencies to protect child rights; sensitize the teachers about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; and discuss about problems in the implementation of the Act and skills to handle cases of child sexual abuse. Seventeen participants attended the Workshop.

 

2. Workshop on safety and security of children in CCIs & Educational Institutions was organized from 01-02 July, 2019 at Dehradun with the main objectives to:  discuss emerging issue of sexual offences committed against children and support for child victims under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding about the role of functionaries of Child Care Institutions and staff of Educational Institutions in supporting implementation of the Act; and enable them to ensure safety and security measures for children. Forty three participants attended the Workshop.

 

3-4. Two Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized from 1-5 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru and from 22-26 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: provide a forum for sharing experiences; appraise them on the recent developments and trends in Anganwadi Services Scheme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development; improve their skills in community education, communication, management. Twenty nine participants attended the course.

 

5-7. Three Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized from 1-30 July, 2019 at Headquarters; from 1-30 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore and from 4 July-2 August, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru and with the main objectives to: orient participants  about the Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS - its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-à-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in the matter of coordination, supervision and management of Anganwadi Services project; discuss about recent developments and new thrusts areas  under Umbrella ICDS; apprise the participants about various aspects of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) including nutrition and health; share the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; enhance their requisite skills for guiding grass-root level functionaries on PSE, Health & Nutrition and Community Participation; and equip them to monitor and supervise the activities of Anganwadi Services and develop effective leadership, supportive supervision and  management of Anganwadi Services projects. Eighty six participants attended the training course.

 

8. Consultation Meet on Prevention of Child Marriage in Eastern States of India was organized from 2-3 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: understand the socio cultural issues relating to child marriage in Eastern States; examine the status of implementation of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 in the eastern States; analyze the mechanism for social mobilization and communication campaign for prevention of child marriage; and work out strategies to prevent child marriages in eastern States. Seventy five participants attended the meet.

 

9. Training on Leadership Development for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 2 – 4 July 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop skills among Anganwadi Services functionaries to influence and motivate the staff and other stakeholders; enhance understanding on significance of Team Work and Motivation to achieve better performance; and improve Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Communication Skills among Anganwadi Services Functionaries to lead the Project effectively. Twenty four participants attended the training programme.

 

10. Vertical Training Programme for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme was organized from 8-12 July, 2019 at Ladakh with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children was organized from 09 – 11 July, 2019 at Regional Centre, Indore by Headquarters with the main objectives to:  sensitize the participants about women empowerment and women’s rights and their effective implementation; make them aware of Constitutional provisions and Legislations relating to women; familiarize them about existing support services for women; and promote networking among NGOs and Institutions providing support services to women for their rights. 12. Orientation Training on Prevention of Malnutrition for the functionaries of ASS of Southern States was organized from 10-12 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants to the causes and consequences of malnutrition in children; appraise the participants to the critical issues of life cycle in prevention of malnutrition in women and children; discuss the sectoral convergence for integration of nutrition and health related programmes for prevention of malnutrition; orient the participants on advocacy issues for Prevention and Reduction of Malnutrition in women and children. 14. Sensitization Workshop on Family based Interventions: Empowering Families with Children with Intellectual Disability was organized from 11-12 July, 2019 at New Delhi with the main objectives to: enable the professionals and parents to understand the challenges of family with children having disability or developmental disorders; orient the school personnel with the strategies to empower families to identify and nurture strengths of the child; orient the personnel to plan interventions that strengthens resilience of the family unit through family support activities. 18. 19. Workshop for Master Trainers on Developmental Monitoring and Inclusive Education for faculty of NIPCCD and its Regional Centres and Instructors of MLTCs and AWTCs was organized from 17-19 July, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants to human diversity, its relationship with prejudice, discriminatory practices and exclusion of children from the normal processes of child development; identify strategies for early detection of children with disabilities in the community; observe and track development of children across different domains by interacting with and observing ‘play behaviour’ of the child; impart skills for Psycho-social stimulation and inclusion of children with impairment and disabilities in the Anganwadi and Identify methods and ways for inclusion of differently-abled children into pre-schools/ Anganwadi Centre. 20. Workshop on Child Protection for Functionaries of Open Shelters under Child Protection Services was organized from 17-19 July, 2019 at Kolkata by Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: provide a common platform for exchange of ideas pertaining to child protection; discuss the status of implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act 2015 and Child Protection Services with reference to functioning of Open Shelters; share experiences and challenges faced by functionaries of Open Shelters for providing quality service to children; and come out with strategies for effective implementation of Child Protection Services in the State. Thirty one participants attended the workshop.

 

21. Training Programme on Child Rights and Child Protection for the functionaries of Government was organized from 17-19 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: provide in depth understanding of ICPS programme framework and the respective roles and responsibilities of functionaries in the District Child Protection Unit; orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; create an understanding of the effective Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and programmes etc.; and facilitate them in effectively discharging their duties. 22. Orientation Training on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for the officials of Government Departments; members of ICC and LCC was organized from 18-19 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the members of ICC and LCC to the nature and trends of sexual harassment in workplaces; orient the participants to the provisions of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the rules; make them aware about the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Act; and apprise the members of the ICC and LCC about their roles and responsibilities. Fifty three participants attended the training programme.

 

23.  Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organized on 21 July, 2019 at Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parents’ skill to play an active role in helping children with various psycho-social problems. One hundred and eighty seven participants attended the Workshop.

 

24. Skill Training on Community Mobilization, Advocacy, Awareness & IEC Campaign on issues Related to Child Development  was organized from 22-24 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation; advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign; enhance skills of the participants in methods and techniques of motivating and mobilizing community for accessing resources; and enable the participants to elicit community participation and organize awareness campaign in their initiatives for implementing ICDS programme more effectively; design materials for emerging issues for use in ICDS Projects; and evolve workable action plans for involvement of community by ICDS functionaries. Twenty one participants attended the training programme.

 

25. Training Programme on Gender Budgeting for Gender Development for Functionaries of Govt. and Voluntary Organizations of Western Region was organized from 22-24 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about issues on women development; orient participants about Gender Budgeting- an emerging need, Concept, Need and Importance of Gender Budgeting; sensitize them about thrust areas of gender and development latest Guidelines and Circulars of Govt. of India on Gender Budgeting/APIP; utilization of Gender Budget in right perspective/context and improve skills in proposals for Gender Budgeting ; and role and responsibilities of GO-VO in implementation of Gender and development programmes. 31. Training on SBCC for ASS Functionaries of Southern States was organized from 29 July-2 August, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the ASS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ASS; acquaint them with the process of SBCC; orient them on demand generating message designing and selection of media and channels for effective communication; apprise them of monitoring and evaluation of IEC activities. Thirty one participants attended the training programme.

 

32. Workshop on the Implementation of JJ Act, 2015 for the Chairperson /Members of Child Welfare Committees was organized from 30-31 July, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: review the implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 in the States; discuss the issues, challenges and gaps in the care, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children in need of care and protection; and evolve strategy for structural and functional improvement in the child protection system.  Twenty four participants attended the Workshop.

A Faculty Meeting on Research Studies Proposed during the year 2019-20 was organized on the 22 August, 2019 under the chairpersonship of Dr. P. Krishnamoorthy, Additional Director at Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss the research proposals and invite suggestions from faculty members for further improvement and strengthen the research proposals in terms universe, sample selection and methods of data collection etc.  Twenty three faculty members from Headquarters and Regional Centres attended the meeting.

Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Schools Principals, Teachers and Counsellors was organized from 5-6 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights; discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required for protection of victims and sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences. Thirty nine participants attended the training programme.

 

2. Training on Leadership Development for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 5-7 August 2019 at Regional Centre, Guwahati by Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop skills among Anganwadi Services functionaries to influence and motivate the staff and other stakeholders; enhance understanding on significance of Team Work and Motivation to achieve better performance; improve Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Communication Skills among Anganwadi Services Functionaries to lead the Project effectively. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

3. Training of Anganwadi Services Functionaries under Umbrella ICDS on Implementation of Annual ECCE Curriculum was organized from 5-9 August, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: strengthen knowledge, understanding and skills of the participants on  ECCE; enhance the understanding  of participants  on the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, National Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; strengthen knowledge, understanding and skills of the participants on the implementation of the state specific Annual ECCE Curriculum; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom; enhance knowledge, understanding and skills of participants on enhancing community and parents partnerships and developing linkages with the existing services; and strengthen knowledge, understanding and skills of participants with the mentoring and monitoring skills to ensure effective implementation of the Annual Curriculum. Thirty five participants attended the training programme.

 

4. Training on Counselling Skills for Counsellors of One Stop Centre and Swadhar Homes was organized from 5-9 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants to gender issues and issues relating to women’s rights and empowerment; help the participants understand the problems of women in distress; provide wider exposure to the participants relating to techniques and skills of counselling. Twenty eight participants attended the training programme.

 

5-7. Three Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized from 5-9 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Indore; 19-23 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Bengaluru and 19-23 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Indore with the main objectives to: provide a forum for sharing experiences; appraise them on the recent developments and trends in Anganwadi Services Scheme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development; improve their skills in community education, communication, management. In all, sixty one participants attended these courses.

 

8. Orientation Training on Health and Nutrition Related Issues for Functionaries of ASS of Southern States was organized from 6-8 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to: appraise the participants on the health and nutritional status of women & children; sensitize the participants on the importance of health and nutrition of women and children; orient the participants on the new initiatives in Anganwadi Services Scheme (ASS) to improve the health and nutritional status of the beneficiaries. Twenty four participants attended the training programme.

 

9. Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Protection for Head Masters of Kasturba Gandhi BalikaVidyalaya (KGBV) was organized from 7-9 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/ legal provision and issues relating to the care and protection of children; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government related to child protection; discuss their role in child protection related issues. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

10. Sensitization Programme on Child Mental Health for Teachers of NavodayaVidayalayaSamiti/KVS/ other Schools was organized from 7-9 August, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on issues related to child mental health; familiarize the participants with the learning and behavioural problems of children; develop their skills in identification of these problems; enable the participants to develop a strategy for seeking timely intervention for children with problems from specialized agencies. Twenty five participants attended the training programme.

 

11. Workshop on the Implementation of JJ Act, 2015 for the Members of Juvenile Justice Boards was organized from 8-9 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Mohali with the main objectives to: review the implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 in the States; discuss the issues, challenges and gaps in the care, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children in conflict with law; evolve strategy for structural and functional improvement in the child protection system.  Seventeen participants attended the workshop.

 

12-13. Two Orientation Training Programmes on Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and its Rules 2016 and Child Protection Services for the District Level Senior Officials of Rajasthan were organized on 19 August, 2019 and 27 August, 2019 at Rajasthan by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection and ground realities; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012; discuss their role and responsibilities under ICPS and challenges faced by them in providing quality services to children; and, evolve strategies for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS. In all, seventy two participants attended the training programme.

 

14. Refresher Course for NIPCCD Faculty on Research Methodology was organized from 19-21 August, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: upgrade the knowledge of the participants in using proper methodology while designing a research study; and enhance the skills of participants in data analysis by application of suitable statistical techniques. Twenty two participants attended the training programme.

 

15. Skill Training on Organisation of Nutrition and Health Education (NHED) for  the Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 19-23 August, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop insight of participants regarding health and nutrition status of women and children in India and reiterating importance of NHED; apprise the participants about component of NHED and educate them about the existing health, nutrition and welfare services/facilities extended by the Central and States; discuss the role and responsibilities of ASS functionaries on Nutrition for promoting NHED; equip the participants with appropriate and adequate communication and counselling skills for nutrition and health education and to design region specific nutrition and health intervention programme; identify best practices, initiatives /schemes which have been piloted under Anganwadi Services Scheme. Twenty four participants attended the training programme.

 

16. Orientation Programme on One Stop Centre Scheme for Police Facilitation Officers and Medico Legal Officers was organized from 20-21 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: build sensitivity to work with women in distress; orient the participants to legal provisions for women; provide information on implementation of the OSC Scheme; enhance knowledge on providing medico/legal support to aggrieved women. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

17-18. Two Sensitization Programmes on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences POCSO Act and Rules 2012 for Educational Institutions/ Chairperson/Members of CWCs & JJBs were organized from 7-8 August and 22-23 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; orient them to the POCSO Act, 2012 and the relevant rules; appraise the participants to the psycho-social needs of child survivors of sexual abuse; and develop an understanding of their roles and responsibilities in implementation of the Act and prevention of child sexual abuse. In all, sixty two participants attended these training programmes.

 

19. Orientation Training Programme for SAA Functionaries on Integrated management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses was organized from 19 -21 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objectives to: orient participants on integrated management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses; and develop the skills of functionaries in effective management of childhood illnesses. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.

 

20. Orientation Training on Management of CCIs was organized from 19-22 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop adequate understanding of various aspects of management of Child Care Institutions; enhance the understanding of the participants on relevant legislations; sensitize them to developmentally appropriate tasks during childhood and adolescents; facilitate the participants to develop viable strategies to render quality care to institutionalized children. Twenty five participants attended the training programme.

 

21. Orientation Training for CDPOs on Early Detection, Prevention and Management of Children with Special Needs was organized from 20-21 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Lucknow  with the main objectives to: orient on various types of disabilities and different definitions; discuss on various guidelines/legislations/schemes for children with special needs; develop competency among participants for screening and identification of children with special needs at AWCs; build competencies of participants to manage diverse needs of children with special needs; and develop strategies for inclusion of children with special need. Sixteen participants attended the training programme.

 

22-23. Two Orientation Workshops on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act), 2013 BMTC was organized from 20-21 August and 27-28 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place; discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them.  In all, sixty four participants attended the training programme

 

24. Orientation Course on Management of Children Home/Child Care Institutions for Functionaries of Child Care Institutions was organized from 21-23 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Mohali with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop adequate understanding of various aspects of management of Child Care Institutions; sensitize them to developmentally appropriate early childhood care and development services particularly in relation to children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; facilitate them to develop viable strategies to render quality care to institutionalized children; help the participants to make qualitative assessment of the services provided to children in the Child Care Institutions. Twenty three participants attended the training programme.

 

25. Orientation Workshop on Child Mental Health for School Teachers was organized on 22 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objectives to: sensitize teachers on learning and behavioural problems of children and to develop their skills in identification of children with these problems; enable teachers to develop a strategy for seeking timely intervention for children from child guidance centre. Thirteen participants attended the training programme.

 

26. Sensitization Programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 for Chairperson/Members of CWCs & JJBs was organized from 22-23 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; enhance the knowledge of participants about salient features of POCSO Act 2012 and develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the act; orient them about different support and rehabilitation services available for victims of sexual offences under POCSO Act and rules, 2012. Twenty eight participants attended the training programme.

 

27. Orientation Programme on Research Methodology and Statistical Analysis in Social Sciences was organized from 26-28 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Indore with the main objectives to: orient participants on latest trends in use of research methodology and statistical analysis in social sciences; enhance their knowledge and skill on different components of research methodology; sharpen their understanding on appropriate use of statistical tools and techniques. Thirty participants attended the training programme.

 

28. Training of Master Trainers on Implementation of ECCE Curriculum for Primary Teachers, ICDS Staff and POSHAN Abhiyan of the UT of Dadra & Nagar Haveli was organized from 26-30 August 2019 at Dadar& Nagar Haveli by Headquarters with the main objectives to: strengthen knowledge, understanding and skills of the participants on ECCE; enhance understanding of participants on the philosophy, principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, National Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; strengthen knowledge, understanding and skills of the participants on the implementation of the state specific Annual ECCE Curriculum; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom; strengthen skills of the participants to train DLMTs/AWWs on the execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans/ECCE activities; enhance knowledge, understanding and skills of participants on enhancing community and parents partnerships and developing linkages with the existing services; strengthen knowledge, understanding and skills of participants with the mentoring and monitoring skills to ensure effective implementation of the Annual Curriculum. Thirty six participants attended the training programme.

 

29. Vertical Training of Block Level Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme was organized from  26- 30 August, 2019 at Tamil Nadu by Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Sixty five participants attended the training programme.

 

30. Vertical Training Programme for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme was organized from 26-30 August, 2019 at Haryana by Regional Centre, Mohali with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty participants attended the training programme.

 

31. Refresher Course for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organized from 26-30 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Mohali with the main objectives to: assess training needs of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs; review and revise the methods and technologies for effective training of ASS Functionaries; appraise Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs about the recent development in ASS and issues related to early childhood care and development including child health, nutrition and education; enhance their training and communication skills. Fourteen participants attended the training programme.

 

32. Orientation Training on Child Rights & Protection for the Functionaries of CCIs was organized from 27-28, August, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection and ground realities; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012; discuss their role and responsibilities under ICPS and challenges faced by them in providing quality services to children, and, evolve strategies for networking, convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS. Twenty nine participants attended the training programme.

 

33. Workshop on Gender Equality for Promoting Food and Nutrition Security was organized from 27-29 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Lucknow by Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective among the participants about basic concept of gender equality and food and nutrition security; enable them to identify different dimensions of food and nutritional security and women’s role therein;share government and non- government initiatives towards gender equality and food security; and recommend priority interventions to ensure gender equality and thereby promoting food and nutrition security. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

34-35. Two Parental Workshop were organized on 28 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Guwahati (Role of Parents in Holistic Development of Adolescent Girls) and Mohali (Parental Intervention during Adolescent Stage) with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the parents about the needs of adolescent girls during adolescent period; acquaint them about appropriate parenting skills to help them contribute effectively towards holistic development of their daughters. In all, two hundred and forty six participants attended these workshops.

 

36. Orientation Training on Working with Children for Functionaries of ICPS was organized from 28-30 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to: To orient the participants on issues relating to child care protection and child rights; enhance the communication and counselling skills of participants in working with children; discuss the strategies and challenges in dealing with the children. Nineteen participants attended the training programme.

 

37. Training on Government Schemes and Programmes for the Functionaries of Civil Society Organizations was organized from 28-29 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the participants about programme/scheme for women and child development and existing pattern, process and procedure of Grant-in- Aid; develop understanding among the participants about the roles of voluntary organizations in implementation of the programmes and schemes; enable the participants to utilize the provisions under different schemes and programmes for undertaking activities for the development of women and children. Thirty one participants attended the training programme.

 

38. Regional Level Review Meet on ICPS was organized from 28-29 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objectives to: review the Child Rights and Child Protection Mechanism; orient on recent initiatives for child rights and child protection under ICPS; discuss the role and responsibilities of various ICPS functionaries; develop strategies for effective implementation of recent initiatives under ICPS. Twenty participants attended the Regional Meet.

 

39. Regional Level Review Meet on Child Protection Services Scheme erstwhile ICPS was organized from 29-30 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Mohali with the main objectives to: share experiences in implementation of Integrated Child Protection Scheme by select states; identification of difficulties being faced by various states in effective implementation of ICPS; Identifying training needs of ICPS functionaries; suggest strategies for effective implementation of ICPS in states. Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

40. Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Members of JJBs was organized from 29-30 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Indore with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006/2015; orient the participants about the functioning of JJBs/CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options and; discuss relevance of non-Institutional Services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act and; understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

41-43. Three Orientation Training Programmes for Stakeholders of J.J. System & ICPS on Child Protection were organized on 8 August, 2019; 22 August, 2019; 30 August, 2019 at Rajasthan by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on present scenario of children in the country in the context of child rights and child protection; orient the participants on salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 & its Rules 2016; orient the participants on the provisions under Integrated Child Protection Scheme; discuss the role of various stockholders in effective implementation of JJ Act & ICPS. In all, 112 participants attended the training programme.

 

44. Workshop on Child related Issues was organized on 29 August, 2019 at Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the teachers and School Counselors on the various psycho-social issues relating to children; enhance the skills of stakeholders for better management of children; capacitate them to deal with the negative emotions among children. Thirty four participants attended the training programme.

  1. Important Activities

1.        The National Nutrition Week was observed by the Institute from 1-7th September, 2019. A series of activities were organised at NIPCCD and its Regional Centres. In all the training programmes organised during National Nutrition Week, component and sessions on Nutrition and Health were duly incorporated. Similarly posters related to the theme were displayed. Fit India Movement was also emphasized and the move from food centric to nutrient centric approach was highlighted. At NIPCCD headquarters all participants attending various courses namely Job Training for CDPOs/ ACDPOs from 2 September-1 October at NIPCCD New Delhi, Certificate Course on Child and Adolescent Counselling from 2-27 September 2019 were sensitized on the importance of nutrition in life through training sessions, mock sessions and quizzes on nutrition, health and fitness. Further In lieu of Nutrition Week Celebration at NIPCCD, a workshop cum nutritious recipe competition for mothers of children attending the Child Care Centre was also organsied at the Child Care Center on 4th September, 2019 with the objectives to orient the parents about the concept of hygiene and demonstrate appropriate hand washing steps understand the differences between clean and safe water and to orient them about the common vector borne diseases and its prevention.

 

2.        'Hindi Pakhwada' was organised during 1-15 September, 2019. Many competitions like 'Hindi Dictation' and 'Hindi Anuwad and Gyan Pratiyogita' were organized during this period. In addition 'Hindi Workshop' was also organised for staff and faculty of the Institute to promote use of Hindi in the Institute.

 

3.       The Institute also observed Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) Campaign from 11 September to 27th October, 2019 with a theme ‘Plastic Waste Awareness and Management’. The Institute organized a variety of activities and undertook several cleanliness drive along with a campaign on Plastic Waste Management at its Headquarters, New Delhi, and its five Regional Centres at Guwahati, Bengaluru, Mohali, Lucknow and Indore. The Swachhata hi Sewa campaign, which was initiated on 2nd October, 2017, has been a great success in inculcating in each and all the importance of Swachhata and in driving home the message that “Swachhata hi ek Swasth Jeevan ka Aadhar Hai”. From organizing rallies and holding training sessions on cleanliness and hygiene at Anganwadi centres to displaying posters and slogans on Swachhata, the staff at NIPCCD as well as the participants attending various training sessions at NIPCCD have actively participated in this campaign urging all supporters and staff to play a part in creating a cleaner, greener and plastic-free India.

Programme on Addressing Problems Faced by Inmates of Child Care Institutions was organized from 2-3 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the inmates of Fatasil Home about the ways to attain emotional and cognitive balance; acquaint them about appropriate self-care skills to deal with their adolescent issues. Twenty five participants attended the training programme.

 

2-5. Four Refresher Training Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized from  2-6 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati, 16-20 September, 2019 by Regional Center Mohali, 23-27 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters and from 23- 27 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: update the participants, their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; appraise them about the recent developments  under Anganwadi Services Scheme (ASS); review the implementation of ASS with regard to its various aspects; sharpen their communication, counselling and managerial skills; provide a forum for sharing of experiences to the participants; assess skill specific training needs of CDPOs/ACDPOs, if any. In all, fifty seven participants attended these courses.

 

6. Certificate Course on Child and Adolescent Counselling was organized from 2nd September, 2019– 27th September, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the teachers to understand the challenges of children in contemporary society and the role of schools in supporting their development; critically apprise them with the strategies to promote emotional wellbeing and achievement in children so that the children are able to meet developmental goals; orient them to the various learning and behaviour difficulties in children and the special needs of children in difficult situations; enhance the ability of the Teachers to identify early symptoms of learning and behaviour problems in children and carry out informal assessments; provide comprehensive skills in counselling children and families for promoting emotional wellbeing of children; provide skills in carrying out awareness and sensitization workshops for teachers and parents on significant mental health concerns relating to children and growing up. Thirty three participants attended the certificate course.

 

7-9. Three Job Training Courses for CDPOs were organized at Headquarters, Regional Centre Indore and Bengaluru from 2 September – 3 October 2019, 03 September – 04 October, 2019 and  4 September – 5 October, 2019 respectively with the main objectives to: orient participants  about the Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS - its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-à-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in the matter of coordination, supervision and management of Anganwadi Services project; discuss about recent developments and new thrusts areas  under Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS; apprise CDPOs about various aspects of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) including nutrition and health; share the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; enhance their requisite skills for guiding grass-root level functionaries on ECCE, Health & Nutrition and Community Participation; and equip them to monitor and supervise activities of Anganwadi Services and develop effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS projects. In all, ninety eight participants attended these programmes.

 

10. Orientation Training on JJ Act, 2015 for the Functionaries of Child line was organized from 3-5 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the provisions of JJ Act, 2015 and Rules 2016; acquaint them on basic case intervention skills for emergency outreach service: orient on the communication and counseling skills for dealing with children in need of care and protection; and apprise them on their role and responsibilities under the JJ Act as well as ICPS. Thirty nine participants attended the training programme.

 

11. Parent Workshop on “Importance of health & Hygiene for children” and Nutritious Recipe Competition in Child Care Centre was organized on 4th September, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss and orient mother about the importance of health and hygiene; sensitize the mothers about healthy eating practices for pre-school children and low cost nutritious recipes. Twenty participants attended the workshop.

 

12. Workshop on Capacity Building of Women through Leadership Development was organized from 4- 6 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow by Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about evolution of leadership and its relevance for women; enable the participants about the scope and existing mechanism that foster leadership among women; discuss the role of change agents in developing skills and capacities of women for taking up leadership roles; and evolve strategies and interventions for leadership development among women through networking. Twenty seven participants attended the workshop.

 

13. Orientation Programme on Counselling for Counsellors of Family Counselling Centres (FCC) was organized from 4-6 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: appraise the participants about the dynamics of human behaviour and linkages   with social problems and atrocities against women; widen exposure to skills and techniques of counselling; update the knowledge of legislations pertaining to women and their implementation; and develop skills on record keeping, scientific reporting and documentation. Thirty four participants attended the training programme.

 

14. Orientation Course on Child Rights & Child Protection for the    Functionaries of Childcare Institutions was organized from 4-6 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the participants regarding recent developments in child rights and child protection; discuss the role of functionaries of the CCIs in ensuring rights of children of CCIs. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.

 

15. Workshop on Leadership, Motivation and Team Building Skills for ASS Functionaries was organized from 4- 6 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: develop skills among Anganwadi Services functionaries to influence and motivate the staff and other stakeholders; enhance understanding on significance of Team Work and Motivation to achieve better performance; and improve Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Communication Skills among Anganwadi Services Functionaries to lead the Project effectively. Eighteen participants attended the workshop.

 

16. Sensitization Programme on POCSO Act, 2012 for Elected Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions was organized from 5-6 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: apprise the members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) about sexual offences against children and salient features of the 'Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 and its recent amendment; develop an understanding of their role in protecting children against child sexual abuse and supporting child victims and their families; and evolve strategies for elimination of sexual offences at the community level with support of PRIs. Twenty one participants attended the training programme.

 

17. Sensitization programme on Child Protection for Teachers & Students was organized on 6 September, 2019 at Law School of Amity University, Noida by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the teachers and students of law department of Amity University towards child rights, developmental policies and programmes for children; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms under Child Protection Services and legal provisions relating to child protection and create a clear understanding of role of teachers and students of Law Department in child protection. Forty one participants attended the training programme.

Workshop on Child Protection Issues for Coordinators/Officers of National Services Scheme (NSS) was organized from 11-13 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/ legal provision and issues relating to the care and protection of children; orient the participants on various policy and programmes initiatives of Government relating to child protection; discuss their role in child protection related issues. 20. Sensitization Programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for Chairpersons/Members of Child Welfare Committees & Juvenile Justice Boards was organized from 12-13 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; and orient them about different support and rehabilitation services available for victims of sexual offences under POCSO Act & Rules, 2012. Nineteen participants attended the training programme.

 

21. Skill Training on Growth Monitoring and MCP Card for Functionaries of ASS Southern States was organized from 16-18 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on new WHO Child Growth Standards and MCP card; review the implementation of the growth chart; enable them to report the data of underweight, wasting and stunting. Twenty six participants attended the training programme.

 

22. Sensitization Programme on Child Mental Health for Teachers of Navodaya Vidayalaya Samiti/KVS/ other Schools was organized from 16 -18 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on issues related to child mental health; familiarize the participants with the learning and behavioural problems of children; develop their skills in identification of these problems; and enable the participants to develop a strategy for seeking timely intervention for children with problems from specialized agencies. Twenty four participants attended the training programme.

Orientation Programme on Counselling for Functionaries of Children`s Institutions and    other functionaries of ICPS was organized from 17-19 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: acquaint the trainees with essential elements of counselling; equip them with techniques of counselling; facilitate participants to acquire skills of counselling and strengthen their overall abilities for effective delivery of services. Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

24. Orientation Course on Management of Child Care Institutions was organized from 17-20 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop adequate understanding of various aspects of management of Child Care Institutions; enhance the understanding of the participants on relevant legislations; sensitize them to developmentally appropriate tasks during childhood and adolescents; facilitate the participants to develop viable strategies to render quality care to institutionalized children. 25. Workshop on the Implementation of JJ Act, 2015 for the Members of Juvenile Justice Boards was organized from 19-20 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: review the implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 in the States; discuss the issues, challenges and gaps in the care, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children in conflict with law; evolve strategy for structural and functional improvement in the child protection system.  Eleven participants attended the training programme.

 

26. Orientation Course for Statistical Assistants on Management Information System in Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 23-27 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the revised MIS in Anganwadi Services Scheme; acquaint them of their role in the monitoring of achievements and goals; and equip them with skills in data management and analysis. Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Child abuse for principals/ Senior Teachers of Government Schools was organized from 24-26 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the Principals and Vice Principals of Government Schools to the issues of Child Abuse with reference to occurrence, types and consequences; make them aware about legislative measures pertaining to protection of    children from abuse; enable them to take appropriate action for preventing and addressing the issue of child abuse in schools. 28. Orientation Course on Child Rights & Child Protection for the Functionaries of Childcare Institutions was organized from 25-27 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient the participants to principles, elements and stages of counselling; enable them to develop communication skills required in counseling process; acquaint them to various techniques of counseling for their use in their work situations with special reference to special needs children; make the participants aware of the ethics in counseling and in providing necessary relief to the children in need of care and protection, special needs children and traumatized children. 29. Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for School Teachers / Administrators was organized from 26- 27 September, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: provide insight into the manifestation of Gender based violence against women in India; existing policies and support services for women; develop understanding about the salient features of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and Rules; evolve strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place. Thirty participants attended the workshop.

 

30. Orientation Training on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (PP&D) Act, 2013 for the officials of Government Departments; members of ICC and LCC was organized from  26-27 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants to the  nature and trends of sexual harassment in work places; orient the participants to the provisions of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the rules; make them aware about the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Act; and apprise the roles and responsibilities of IC and LC members. Parental Workshop on various Academic & Psychological issues was organized on 30 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parents’ skill to play an active role in helping children with various psycho-social problems.

 

32. Workshop on Child Related Issues was organized on 30 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the teachers and School Counselors on the various psycho-social issues relating to children; enhance the skills of stakeholders for better management of children; capacitate them to deal with the negative emotions among children. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

33. Awareness Generation on E-Learning Programmes in Collaboration with Universities and the Educational Institutions was organized on 30 September, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the use of e-learning programme; provide hands on experience on e-learning programmes; and bridge the learning gap and build the confidence of the students in the College/Universities. Workshop on Critical Issues in Dealing with Children in Conflict with Law for Juvenile Justice Board Members was organized from 3-4 October, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and its Model rules 2016; discuss the roles and responsibilities of members of JJBs and different personnel involved in the implementation of the Act; provide opportunity for sharing good practices for strengthening implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; and discuss various provisions under POCSO Act, 2012; prepare them to effectively deal with the children in Conflict with Law. Twelve participants attended the workshop.
  2. Orientation Programme on One Stop Centre Scheme for Counsellors and Case Workers was organized from 3-4 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants to constitutional and legal provisions for the women; provide information on implementation of the OSC Scheme; and enhance their knowledge and skills in providing medico- legal and psycho/social support to aggrieved women and redress their problems under one roof.   3. Orientation Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace(Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (For BMTC Employees) was organized from 3-4 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at workplace; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them.   4. Skill Training on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and Counselling for Para Medical Personnel was organized from 4-5 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: orient the participants on IYCF practices; orients participants on requisite counseling techniques; enable the participants to sensitize the primary and secondary care givers of Pregnant Women and New Born Children about IYCF practices to restrain malnutrition and mortality. Awareness on E-Learning Programmes in Collaboration with Universities and the Educational Institutes was organized on 9 October, 2019 at Chandigarh by Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: provide guidance on the selection and development of learning activities and assessments; provide learning platform and access to knowledge in different fields of education for a lifelong learning; make the information and study materials better available for learners; enhance the capacity of e- learning practitioners through knowledge-sharing; and diversify the study process and make it more interesting, efficient and contemporary.  Forty seven participants attended the awareness programme.

Capacity Building on Decentralized Planning, Management and Monitoring Mechanisms for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 9– 11 October 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: learn salient features  of decentralized planning and management in respect of preparation of Annual Programme Implementation Plan(APIP); understand the mechanisms of convergence with allied departments at different levels for strengthening quality services under the scheme; discuss about supervision and monitoring mechanisms of the GOI and States/UTs in effective implementation of Anganwadi Services under Umbrella ICDS; and know different managerial skills &develop action plan for effective implementation of Anganwadi Services Project. Orientation Training on Counselling Techniques for Counsellors of CCIs was organized from 10-11 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants to develop an understanding of the needs of children in terms of their care and protection especially Child Psychology and related issues; facilitate them to identify and analyze the problems of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; and prepare them to effectively deal with the children in a child-friendly way.   9. Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 (Amended 2019) for Schools Principals, Teachers, and Counsellors was organized from 10-11 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the  main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012 (Amended 2019); develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights; and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required for protection of victims and sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences. Sensitization Programme on Social Media Addiction among School Students for School Officials was organized from 14-15 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: familiarize school officials to social media addiction among school students; orient them on effect of social media addiction on academic performance, relationship with parents, interpersonal relationships and health; and facilitate school officials to incorporate best practices in the existing school set up for helping students deal with social media addiction. Skill Training Programme on Communication and Counselling Skills for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations for the Promotion of Government programmes was organized from 14-16 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: familiarise the participants with principles of counselling for behaviour change; learn and practise communication skills for counselling; and help participants acquire counselling skills for use in their work as health professionals. Orientation Programme on Mobilization and Management of Community Resources for Civil Society Organisations was organized from 14-18 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participants to the techniques for mobilizing and managing community resources; and reduce their dependency on donor agencies by developing necessary skills and awareness to adopt the techniques as sustainable alternatives for programme implementation. Regional Meet on Well Being of Children in Society was organized from 15-16 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: discuss the various existing development and interventions related to child well-being; and discuss the points of convergent actions required for promotion of child well-being. Workshop for Capacity Building of Stakeholders on Child Protection and Child Rights was organized from 16 -18 October, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012; and develop an Action Plan for the Stakeholders for effective child care and protection in the region.   19. Review Workshop on e-learning Contact Programme for State Nodal Officers was organized on 18 October, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: have a review on the use of e-learning programme for functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS; to review on the suggestions given by the States in the orientation meeting; and steps taken by States/UTs in sharing the importance and use of e-learning mode of training; sharing the status of registered users with States/UTs in completing the course. Orientation Programme on Implementation of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organisations was organized from 22-24 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on legal provision issues relating the development and protection of women and children; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to women and children; discuss the role of Voluntary organisations in care and protection of women and children and also in prevention of gender based violence; strategize measures and awareness initiatives for prevention of violence against women and children in the community for developing viable action plans. Orientation training on Supportive Interventions for School Teachers was organized from 29-31 October, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: enable the teachers to understand the challenges faced by children in contemporary society and the role of schools in supporting their development; orient them to the various learning and behavioural difficulties in children; enhance the ability of the teachers to identify early symptoms of learning and behaviour problems in children; and critically apprise them with the strategies to promote emotional well-being and achievement in children. Training on Convergence for IYCF and Growth Monitoring was organized from 30 October –1 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: build the capacity of the participants on IYCN and Growth Monitoring; facilitate multi-sectoral programming and convergence under Poshan Abhiyan; enable the participants to develop contextual strategies for effective coordination and convergence of services. Orientation Training on Management of Malnutrition for Functionaries of ICDS/ NRHM/ Civil Society Organizations of Western States was organized from 4- 8 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about severity and magnitude of malnutrition among women and children with emphasis on tribal community; orient them about programmes and schemes of Government on NHM/ICDS with special reference to Malnutrition/Early childhood disabilities; develop coordination efforts/skills in convergence of Health Services/ICDS; and develop a strategy on effective management of joint training/home visits/joint counseling for positive behavioral change in families. Thirty three participants attended the training programme.

4-7. Four Job Training Courses for CDPOs were organized from 4 November- 4 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati, Indore, Lucknow and Mohali with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDS scheme; make them understand their role and roles of other functionaries of the project as well as other staff of the block; equip them to provide on the job orientation and guidance to the AWWs and Supervisors as and when needed; and help them acquire knowledge and information to enable them to develop necessary supervisory skills. In all, ninety seven participants attended these course.

8. Orientation Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was organized from 5-6 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place and, discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Thirty participants attended the workshop.

9. Sensitization Programme on Child Mental Health for Teachers of NavodayaVidayalaya Samiti/KVS/ other Schools was organized from 6-8 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on issues related to child mental health; familiarize the participants with the learning and behavioural problems of children; develop their skills in identification of these problems; and enable the participants to develop a strategy for seeking timely intervention for children with problems from specialized agencies. Twenty six participants attended the training programme.

10. Consultation Meet on Rehabilitation and Social Re-Integration of Children under JJ System was organized from 7-8 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants on the services important for rehabilitation and social re-integration of children under JJ system; provide a platform for sharing of best practices/innovations or initiatives adopted by various departments on rehabilitation and social re-integration of children; identify the shortcoming and gaps in implementation of ICPS Scheme JJ Act /Rules; and develop strategy for effective implementation of the JJ Act for rehabilitation and social re-integration of children. Seventy participants attended the meet.

11. Awareness on E-Learning Programmes in Collaboration with Universities and the Educational Institutes was organized on 8 November, 2019 at Chandigarh by Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to:provide guidance on the selection and development of learning activities and assessments; provide learning platform and access to knowledge in different fields of education for a lifelong learning; make the information and study materials better available for learners; enhance the capacity of e- learning practitioners through knowledge-sharing; and diversify the study process and make it more interesting, efficient and contemporary. Eighty three participants attended the programme.

12. Workshop on Child Protection for Members/ Chairpersons of CWCs and JJBs of Kerala was organized from 10-12 November, 2019 at Kerela by Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss the Orient participants on  Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 including provisions of care, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children in conflict with law and need of care & protection; discuss the role of Chairperson/Members of Child Welfare Committees and Social Workers of JJBs in implementation of various legislations; and evolve strategy for structural and functional improvement in the child protection system. Fifty four participants attended the training programme.

13. Sensitization Workshop on Social Rehabilitation of Children with Special Needs for the Parents of Children with Special Needs was organized on 11 November, 2019 at Kerela by Headquarters with the main objectives to: acquaint the parents about the nature and magnitude of various problems of children with special needs; sensitize them about the methods and techniques can be used for providing a supportive home environment; orient parents about the importance of community  based rehabilitation for healthy leaving of children with special needs; inform about various benefits available for children with special needs including during the death of their parents. Five hundred and thirty participants attended the training programme.

14. Training of Master Trainers on Management of Creche under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 1-12 November 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants about salient aspects of National Crèche Scheme; understand the modalities and salient aspects involved in operationalization & functioning of crèches; enhance knowledge on significance of early childhood care & education (ECCE) and its essential pre-requisite such as nutrition, care, health, hygiene, cleanliness and early learning; strengthen skills among participants to conduct early childhood stimulation (birth to three years) and ECCE activities for children at Crèches; sharpen organization & administrative skills of participants in crèche management such as daily schedule, understanding needs of young children, parents and community; strengthen skills of participants on effective monitoring & supervision of crèches. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

15. Workshop on Documentation Process Under JJ System for Stakeholders of ICPS was organized from 13-15 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the Management Information System under JJ System and ICPS; examine the prevailing bottlenecks in the documentation process under JJ System and ICPS; and discuss the role of various stakeholders in proper documentation under JJ System. Twenty two participants attended the workshop.

16. Sensitization Joint Training of Field Level Functionaries of Health Department and Anganwadi Services Scheme on Nutrition was organized from 13-15 November, 2019 at Jharkhand by Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: strengthen the knowledge and understanding of the participants on nutrition issues; appraise the participants on the new initiatives of MWCD for women and children; and enhance coordination and convergence between the health and Anganwadi services scheme. Thirty six participants attended the programme.

17. Workshop for Parents of Children Availing CGC Facilities was organized on 14 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: provide a platform to the parents of the children availing CGC facilities at the Regional Centre to share their experiences and come together as a group to help each other and learn from subject matter experts to help their children actualize their potential. The workshop was organized on the occasion of Children’s Day and a festive environment for celebrating childhood. Sixty participants attended the workshop.

18. Awareness Generation on E-Learning Programmes in Collaboration with Universities and the Educational Institutions was organized on 14 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: provide a common platform for skill up gradation, and exchange of ideas on various aspects of Child Development; familiarize the participants with the different procedures of registration, learning and evaluation through online mode; and provide suggestive actions for improving the course curriculum, content and mode of learning. Sixty nine participants attended the programme.

19. Awareness Generation Camp on Child Rights and Child Protection for School Children was organized on 14 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: discuss the problems and challenges faced by children to derive specific issues of child rights and protection to be focused; and aware the children on provisions of CRC and national initiatives for child rights and child protection including various legal instruments and services for child protection. Seventy nine participants attended the camp.

20. Sensitization Training on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for Government Officials was organized from 14-15 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Thirty five participants attended the training programme.

Workshop for Police Personnel (Child Welfare Police Officers) on Child Protection was organized from 14-15 November, 2019 at Jammu by Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss the issues pertaining to Child Protection; share information about the implementation of various legislations concerning children vis-a-vis Child Protection Services Scheme; evolve strategies for effective child protection services with support of existing child protection mechanisms. Forty participants attended the workshop.

22. Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for School Teachers/Administratorswas organized from 14-15 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: provide insight into the manifestation of Gender based violence against women in India; existing policies and support services for women; develop understanding about the salient features of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and Rules; and evolve strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place. Twenty seven participants attended the workshop.

23. Conference on Multi-Stakeholder Child Specific interventions related to Professional Social work Practice in Meghalaya (in collaboration with Social Work Department, North Eastern Hill University, Tura) was organized on 18 November, 2019 at Meghalaya by Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: enhance understanding of the participants on the issues and challenges faced by children in Meghalaya; plan a strategic intervention with National and State local agencies; promote convergence and networking among different stakeholders; understand the scope of professional social work in child specific interventions and programmes. Forty six participants attended the conference.

24. Workshop on Monitoring and Supervision for Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 18-20 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore by Headquarters with the main objectives to: provide an overview of  monitoring & supervision system in Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS, as also, an insight  into revised MIS; discuss the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in monitoring and supervision of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS, share the experiences & challenges faced and identifying best practices; evolve effective strategies for better monitoring and supervision of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS. Sixteen participants attended the training programme.

25. Skill Training on Management of SAM and MAM Children for the functionaries of Anganwadi Services was organized from 18-22 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop a better understanding among the participants regarding the concepts of SAM and MAM in children and issues relating to malnutrition; develop skill for accurate assessment of nutritional status of children; and enable them to guide the AWWs in management of SAM and MAM Children in children. Thirty one participants attended the training programme.

26. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level Umbrella ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized from 18-22 November, 2019 at Maharashtra by Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Fifty two participants attended the training programme.

27. Orientation Training on Establishing and Managing a Voluntary   Organisation for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations was organized from 18-22 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants towards establishing a voluntary organisation, process of Institution building, and its administration and management; Help them to learn planning and designing project proposals ways and means of resource mobilisation; and discuss issues related to good governance, accountability and transparency in voluntary organisations. Thirty participants attended the training programme.

28. Vertical Training Programme of Block Level Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS for Quality Improvement in Anganwadi Programme was organized from 18-22 November,2019 at Odissa by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme at project level for quality improvement in Anganwadi Services; and train DPO and CDPOs jointly to formulate action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of anganwadi services in the aspirational District. Fifty one participants attended the training programme.

29. Orientation Training on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 for Protection officers, Service providers and VOs working on Women Issues was organized from 19-20 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient the participants on locus and manifestation of gender based violence; familiarise the participants on the trends in Domestic Violence over the past decade and the measures adopted to combat it; discuss legislative measures to curb atrocities against women, especially on domestic violence; analyse the problems and challenges and work out strategies for addressing the problem of domestic violence of women; and discuss existing mechanisms/support services and suggestions towards strengthening them. Twenty one participants attended the programme.

30. Awareness Generation on E-Learning Programmes in Collaboration with Universities and the Educational Institutions was organized on 19 November, 2019 at Meghalaya with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the use of e-learning programme; provide hands on experience on e-learning programmes; and bridge the learning gap and build the confidence of the students in the College/Universities. Twenty six participants attended the programme.

31. Workshop on Prevention of Gender Biased Sex Selective Elimination and Female Infanticide was organized from 20-22 November, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants about status of girl child in India with emphasis on gender biased sex selective elimination and female infanticide; sensitize the participants about the consequences of declining sex ratio and child sex ratio; familiarize the participants with various Government policies, rights, legislation and schemes related to girl child; and provide a forum to discuss and evolve strategies for prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination. Forty participants attended the workshop.

32. Workshop on Child Protection Issues for Coordinators / Officers of National Services Scheme (NSS) was organized from 20-22 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/ legal provision and issues relating to the care and protection of children; orient the participants on various policy and programmes initiatives of Government; relating to child protection; and discuss their role in child protection related issues. Twenty nine participants attended the workshop.

33. Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 (Amended 2019) for Schools Principals, Teachers and Counsellors was organized from 21-22 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012 (amended 2019); develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights; discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required for protection of victims and sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences. Fourteen participants attended the workshop.

34. Parental Workshop (Role of the Parents in Developing Children’s Learning Styles and Managing Behavioural Issues during Childhood)was organized on 22 November, 2019 by Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of adolescents and holistic development among the parents; and help parents to help adolescents to cope up with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for optimum development. One hundred and thirty two participants attended the training programme.

 

35. Workshop for Teachers on Identification and Management of Learning & Behavioural Problems among Children was organized from 25-26 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: acquaint the teachers about the nature and magnitude of Behavioural and Learning problems of children; enable them with the process /methods to identify children with Behavioural and Learning problems; acquaint the teachers to the behaviour modification techniques and remedial teaching strategies to be used at school and available provisions of a supportive environment. Thirty eight participants attended the workshop.

 

36. Orientation Training Programme for Chairpersons& Members of Child Welfare Committees was organized from 25-29 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children and challenges faced by them; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015& POCSO Act 2012; orient the participants about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; and create an understanding among the participants about the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration as well as non-institutional services under the Act. Twenty nine participants attended the training programme.

37. JTC E-Learning Contact Programme for CDPOs was organized from 25-29 November, 2019 at Andhra Pradesh by Headquarters with the main objectives to: provide supervised practice to enhance the skills of functionaries; give hands on experience to the CDPOs; bridge the learning gap of the trainers; and give them practical exposure and build their confidence. Thirty participants attended the programme.

38. Workshop on Incorporating Gender Issues in Disaster Managementwas organized from 26-28 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance understanding of gender concerns and needs in disaster management; develop capacity to identify and address key gender related issues in disaster management phases through gender analysis; evolve strategies for integrating gender perspective in the overall planning of disaster management. Forty nine participants attended the workshop.

39. Orientation Training on Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 for the Functionaries of Child Line was organized from 27-29 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the provisions of JJ Act. 2015 and Rules 2016; discuss issues and challenges in the care, protection, rehabilitation and reintegration of children in need of care and protection; orient on the communication and counselling skills for dealing with children in need of care and protection; facilitate them to develop viable strategies for coordination and convergence of services of various agencies; and apprise them on their role and responsibilities under the JJ Act as well as CPS. Thirty eight participants attended the training programme.

40. Skill Training on Growth Monitoring & MCP Card was organized from 27-29 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of New WHO Growth Charts and Use of MCP Card; orient participants on health and nutrition issues linked to MCP Card, its usage and implementation; provide information about counseling techniques and new initiatives of Ministry of Women and Child Development. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.

The MWCD celebrated “Hausla 2019” between 19th to 21st December, 2019  by hosting an inter CCI  Festival for the children who reside in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) with the aim that it would provide an occasion to showcase the talents and provide them with a space to express their dreams and aspirations. Children participated in various events like Painting Competition, Debate Competition, Safe Neighbourhood Project, Athletics Meet, Football and Chess Competition.  About 750 children from 23 States/UTs participated in the programme that had come from various child care institutions across the country. NIPCCD assisted MWCD in organising the event.

Refresher Course for CDPOs was organized from 2-6 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: assess training needs of CDPOs/ACDPOs; provide a forum for sharing experiences in implementing Umbrella ICDS Programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; sharpen communication, counseling and managerial skills of CDPOs. Skill Training on Management of SAM and MAM Children for the functionaries of Anganwadi Services was organized from 2-6 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop a better understanding among the participants regarding the concepts of SAM and MAM in children and issues relating to malnutrition; develop skill for accurate assessment of nutritional status of children; enable them to guide the AWWs in management of SAM and MAM Children. Induction Training for Supervisors of Anganwadi Service Scheme was organized from 2-6 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants to various components of ASS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; facilitate them to develop skill necessary for supervision and monitoring and management on the ICDS/ASS scheme. Parental Workshop on the use of Gadgets by Children for parents of Children in Child Care Centre was organized on 6 December 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to:introduction of Gadgets in early childhood years and its relationship with social, emotional and cognitive development of child; how these Gadgets impacts on cognitive and motor skills of children; aware the parents about the perceived risks and benefits of its usage; and suggesting ways for parents how they can monitor their children by limiting their time of Gadget uses. Eighty seven participants attended the workshop.

Workshop on Critical Issues Dealing with Children in Need of Care and Protection for Chairperson/members of Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) was organized from 6-7 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: share the present status of  child protection and ICPS in the States; analyze the relevance and utilization of knowledge in their work situations; share experiences and challenges faced by them; come out with effective strategies for  implementation of JJ Act/ ICPS. Thirty one participants attended the workshop.

Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organized on8 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; develop parents’ skill to play an active role in helping children with various psycho-social problems. Two hundred participants attended the workshop.

Training Programme on Child Protection for CHILDLINE Functionaries was organized from 9-10 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Guwahati with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India; orient the participants to the Juvenile justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Rules.2016; orient the participants on communication and counseling skills for dealing with children in need of care and protection; and apprise them of their role and responsibilities under the JJ Act as well as ICPS. Thirty nine participants attended the training programme.

Skill Training programme on ECCE for Supervisors/Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organized from 9-11 November, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: acquaint the Supervisors and AWTC/MLTC functionaries to the new developments in the field of ECCE; review the services for developing an understanding of the current situation; build the capacity of supervisors and Instructors of AWTC/MLTC to act as a master trainer and effectively guide the grass root level functionaries on ECCD component for proper implementation of ECCE Curriculum. Nineteen participants attended the training programme.

Vertical Training Programme of Block Level Umbrella ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized from 9-13 December, 2019 at Madhya Pradesh by Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Skill Training on Organisation of Nutrition and Health Education (NHED) for  the Functionaries of Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 9-13 December, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: develop insight of participants regarding health and nutrition status of women and children in India and reiterating importance of NHED; apprise the participants about component of NHED and educate them about the existing health, nutrition and welfare services/facilities extended by the Central and States; discuss the role and responsibilities of ASS functionaries on Nutrition for promoting NHED; equip the participants with appropriate and adequate communication and counselling skills for nutrition and health education and to design region specific nutrition and health intervention programme; identify best practices, initiatives /schemes which have been piloted under Anganwadi Services Scheme.   1. Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organized from 9-13 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: review the implementation of restructured & strengthened ICDS programme  in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of  experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. Fourteen participants attended the refresher course.

 

  1. Awareness Generation on E-Learning Programmes in Collaboration with Universities and the Educational Institutions was organized on 10 December, 2019 at Uttar Pradesh by Regional Centre Lucknow with the main objectives to: provide a common platform for skill up gradation, and exchange of ideas on various aspects of Child Development; familiarize the participants with the different procedures of registration, learning and evaluation through online mode; and provide suggestive actions for improving the course curriculum, content and mode of learning. Two hundred and ninety eight participants attended the programme.

 

  1. Orientation Training on Strengthening the Growth Monitoring skills for functionaries of ASS of Aspirational Districts was organized from 11-13 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: strengthen skills of participants on new WHO Child Growth Standards; review the implementation of the growth chart; and enable them to report the data of underweight, wasting and stunting. Forty one participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Skill Training on ECCE for Anganwadi Services Functionaries under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 11-13 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: familiarize ICDS Functionaries to conceptual framework of ECCE; orient them on key child care behaviours; and facilitate participants to incorporate best child care practices in the existing set up of ICDS for strengthening the ECCE component. Twenty participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Course on Management of Children Home/Child Care Institutions for Functionaries of Child Care Institutions was organized from 11-13 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop adequate understanding of various aspects of management of Child Care Institutions; sensitize them to developmentally appropriate early childhood care and development services particularly in relation to children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; facilitate them to develop viable strategies to render quality care to institutionalized children; and help the participants to make qualitative assessment of the services provided to children in the Child Care Institutions. Thirty participants attended the course.

 

  1. Workshop on Child Protection Issues for Coordinators / Officers of National Services Scheme (NSS) was organized from 11-13 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/ legal provision and issues relating to the care and protection of children; orient the participants on various policy and programmes initiatives of Government relating to child protection; and discuss their role in child protection related issues. Thirty participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Workshop on Safety and Security of Girls in Schools was organized from 12-14 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali by Headquarters with the main objectives to: share government and non- government initiatives for safety of school girls; discuss sensitize the participants on safety and security of school going girls; the role of stakeholders in prevention of violence and protection of school going girls; and evolve strategies and interventions for ensuring safety of school going girls. Thirty six participants attended theworkshop.

 

  1. Orientation Training on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act, 2019 for Police was organized from 16-17   December, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and consequent under trauma faced by them; familiarize the participants regarding Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act, 2019; discuss the role and responsibilities of Police under POCSO Act; and discuss about the issues and challenges encountered in the implementation of the POCSO, Act and ways and means of addressing these problems. Twenty five participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Sensitization Programme on Child Protection Issues for School Officials was organized from 16-18 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to:familiarize school officials to the concept of child protection; orient them on key child protection issues within school; make them familiar with the existing child protection mechanism e.g. ICPS, policy and programmes, acts/ legal provisions for child protection; preparing school for protection of children in school from sexual abuse; mental health issues; gender discrimination; child protection policy; POCSO Act; E-Box. Thirty four participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Training on Fund Raising and Resource Management for Voluntary Organizations was organized from 16-18 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: update the participants about the project planning for development interventions; orient the participants about fund raising techniques; impart knowledge on resource and financial management in voluntary sector. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Orientation Course for Statistical Assistants on Management Information System in Anganwadi Services Scheme under Umbrella ICDS was organized from 16-20 December, 2019 at New Delhi by Headquarters with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the revised MIS in Anganwadi Services Scheme; acquaint them of their role in the monitoring of achievements and goals; and equip them with skills in data management and analysis. Nineteen participants attended the course.

 

  1. Skill Development Training on Promoting Small Savings, Production and Marketing for Representative of Government & Civil Society Organizations of Western States was organized from 16-20 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Indore with the main objectives to: orient participants about need and importance of Small Savings for women groups; impart Skills on installation of small/medium Production Units; explore networking/marketing avenues; develop their capacity convergence with vocational institutions and Anganwadi Services; and enhance capabilities of participants on using PLA technique for promoting community based indigenous resources. Thirty six participants attended the skill development training programme.

 

  1. Induction Training for Supervisors of Anganwadi Service Scheme was organized from 16-20 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: orient the participants to various components of ASS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries of the scheme; and facilitate them to develop skill necessary for supervision and monitoring and management on the ICDS/ASS scheme. Thirty two participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013for School Teachers / Administrators was organized from 18-19 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Lucknow by Headquarters with the main objectives to: provide insight into the manifestation of Gender based violence against women in India; existing policies and support services for women; develop understanding about the salient features of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and Rules; and evolve strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place. Seventeen participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Orientation Workshop for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organized from 19-20 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 and JJ rules 2016; orient the participants about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; discuss relevance of non-Institutional Services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Eleven participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Parental Workshop on “Role of the Parents in Holistic Development of the Children” was organized on 21 December, 2019 at Regional Centre Mohali with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of adolescents and holistic development among the parents; help parents to help adolescents to cope up with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for optimum development. Thirty four participants attended the workshop.

 

  1. Workshop on Cyber Crimes against Children for Law Enforcement Agencies and Teachers was organized from 26-27 December, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: discuss the recent trends of cyber-crimes committed against children in India; share information about the implementation of various legislations, policies and schemes concerning online protection of children; and frame a pathway for cyber safety of children with support of existing mechanisms. Twenty seven participants attended the training programme.

 

  1. Consultation meet on Issues related to Child Protection was organized from 26-27 December, 2019 at Headquarters with the main objectives to: review the various care and protection issues affecting children; deliberate on various policy and programme initiatives as well as legislations of Government relating to children; discuss the role of stake holders in child care and protection issues; and come out with strategies to implement child protection programme effectively. Twenty four participants attended the consultation meet.

 

  1. Workshop on Child Related Issues was organized on 28 December, 2019 by Regional Centre Bengaluru with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on learning and behavioural problems of children; enable them to identify children with learning and behaviour problems; provide platform to share views and experience in dealing with children. Forty one participants attended the workshop.
