Regular Training Programmes

  • Orientation Programme for State/UT Officials on Implementation of the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum was organized by Headquarters at Indore on 4 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize Senior Officials of States/UTs to facilitate Implementation of the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum. Six participants attended the programme.
  • Two Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organized by Regional Centres, Bengaluru and Lucknow from 4-8 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: assess the declining child sex ratio: causes and consequences; update legislation concerning Women and Children; apprise the participants about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programmes; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and healthcare. In all, sixty participants attended both courses.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ ACDPOs was organized by Regional Centre, Indore, from 4 January-3 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the trainee CDPOs/ ACDPOs about ICDS programme – its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries with respect to restructured and strengthened ICDS and New Who Child Growth Standards, MCP card, schemes of SABLA & IGMSY; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. Twenty eight participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Micro-Finance and Income Generation Through MED Activities for Representatives of Voluntary Organizations was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 4-8 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants to the concept and micro- finance and income generation activities; impart knowledge and skills for viable economic activities, credit, marketing and other supportive services for micro-finance; help the participants to understand the role of NGOs as micro-finance institutions for income generation activities; develop the skills of NGOs for effectivefinancial management and reporting; and share the experiences of participants on the management of micro-enterprise. Twenty four participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Programme for State/UT level Master Trainers (SLMT) on Implementation of the Annual Contextualised ECCE Curriculum was organized by Headquarters at Indore, from 5-9 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants on the concept, significance, principles and domains of child development; orient participants on the National ECCE Policy including Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; develop knowledge, understanding and skills of participants in rolling out contextualised ECCE Curriculum at AWCs and Preparing Plan of Action; develop the required training skills in participants in training of Trainers of District Level Master Trainers (DLMTs) on rolling out contextualised ECCE Curriculum at AWCs; and develop proper understanding and skills of participants on supportive supervision, formative and continuous assessment of implementation of ECCE as well as progress of children at AWCs. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Grant Management System for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations Receiving Grant from MWCD was organized by Headquarters, from 6-8 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the existing patterns, process and procedure of Grant-in-aid under different schemes for women and children; identify the complexities and challenges of disbursal/receipt of grant-in-aid experienced by VOs and the Government Agencies; discuss the means for transparency and accountability at various levels; and suggest remedial measures for evolving and efficient Grant Management System to achieve improved GO-NGO Cooperation and better services to the community. Seventeen participants attended the workshop.
  • Regional Meet on Child Protection Issues for Civil Society Organizations was organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 7-8 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss various policy and programme initiatives of government relating to child protection; discuss various protection issues affecting the of children in the southern States; provide a forum for presenting the civil society initiatives in the area of child protection; discuss the role of civil society organizations in promoting child protection initiatives. Thirty four participants attended the meeting.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Medical Professionals was organized by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 8 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: deepen the understanding of the Medical officers and Medical Superintendents on the salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and their role and responsibilities in implementation of the Act. Twenty nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Regional Meet on Management of Severe Acute Malnourished Children for State Level Officers was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 11-12 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: take stock of recent developments and initiatives taken by the state governments in prevention of Macro and Micronutrient deficiencies; review the implementation of existing nutritional policies and programmes and suggest ways of strengthening them; discuss the role and coordination between DWCD and Department of HOFW in strengthening the existing mechanism of management of SAM children; and draw the strategies for prevention and management of Severe Acute Malnutrition. Thirty four participants attended the meeting.
  • Regional Workshop for DPOs & CDPOs on Recent Developments and Best Practices in ICDS was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 11-12 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: share experiences and best practices between the states which would be beneficial for all stakeholders; enhance the understanding of methods and procedures that could be adopted for providing effective, efficient and appropriate services to beneficiaries; share issues and challenges faced during the course of implementation of the scheme. Thirty four participants attended the workshop.
  • Training of Trainers of SIRDs on Communication of ICDS and Village Convergence & Facilitation Services (VCFS) was organized by Headquarters at Pali in Rajasthan from 11-14 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: strengthen the delivery system of ICDS training and improving its implementation in high burden districts; capacity building of the Master Trainers of SIRDs who in turn will be involved with the task to conduct the training programme for the district officials on Communication of ICDS and Village Convergence & Facilitation Service (VCFS) in their States. Thirty one participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women was organized by Headquarters, from 11-15 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of the participants on Women's empowerment including social, economic, political and legal empowerment; apprise them about the policies and programmes of Government for women empowerment; sensitize the participants on gender issues and methodology for incorporating gender in the agenda of organizations and provide knowledge and skills on project formulation with gender sensitivity to enlarge the scope of effective implementation of projects for empowerment of women. Twenty three participants attended the programme.
  • One Day Sensitization programme on Misuse of Social Media Networking for School Children was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow on 12 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants about advantages and disadvantages of social media networking; discuss the legal provisions related to information technology; and suggest ways for minimizing adverse effects of social media networking. One hundred eleven participants attended the programme.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organized by Headquarters in Ludhiana, from 11-15 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Fifty one participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organized by Headquarters from 13-15 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Thirteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training on Community Mobilisation, Advocacy, Awareness and IEC Campaign on the issues relating to Child Development was organized by Headquarters from 18-22 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation; advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign, improve skills of the participants in methods and techniques of motivating and mobilizing community for awareness generation & IEC campaign; and enable the participants to elicit community participation, awareness and campaign for implementing ICDS programme effectively. Twenty six participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Social Workers and Counsellors of ICPS was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 18-22 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing juvenile justice system and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient about the features of ICPS, its components and role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages;discuss the role of social workers in implementation of ICPS in the district;evolve strategy for networking convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS;build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at district level;and develop competencies to carry out the responsibilities as social workers. Thirty three participants attended the training programme.

Forty five participants attended the training programme.
  • Advocacy Workshop on Child Mental Health for School Principals/Teachers and Parents was organized by Regional Centre, Indore on 19 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: understand the importance of mental health needs of children; develop positive mental health attitudes, values and beliefs which facilitate their functioning with children; identify the Learning and Behavioral Problems among Children; and promote counseling services for children in schools. Seventeen participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organized by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 20 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the principals and teachers about the sexual offences committed against children and provision to deal with the problem under POCSO Act, 2012; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights to children; and develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act. Thirty nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Magistrates/ Members of JJB /SJPUs /CWCs /Childline was organized by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-22 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the status of implementation of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 by States/UTs; discuss role and responsibilities of JJBs, CWCs, SJPUs and NGOs in better implementation of Juvenile Justice Act; and identify the obstacles/difficulties in better coordination and linkages among the various functionaries. Twenty four participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Workshop for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organized by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 27-28 January, 2016 with the main objectives of to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006; orient the participants about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; create and understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; discuss relevance of non-institutional services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; and understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Twenty eight participants attended the workshop.

Thirty eight participants attended the training programme.
  • Parental workshop on Role of parents in overall/ holistic development of their children was organized by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 28 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs and holistic development of the children; and help parents to help their children to cope with the physical, emotional and mental changes and demands during different stages for optimum development. One hundred one participants attended the workshop.
  • Consultation Meet on Safety and Security of Girls in Schools was organized by Headquarters at Bengaluru from 28-29 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on safety and security of school going girls; Share government and non-government initiatives for safety of school girls; discuss the role of stakeholders in prevention of violence and protection of school going girls; and evolve strategies and interventions for ensuring safety of school going girls. Thirty two participants attended the meeting.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place was organized by Regional Centre, Indore from 28-29 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially at work place; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of sexual harassment of women at work place; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and provide suggestions for strengthening them. Thirty two participants attended the programme.
  • Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psycho-social Issues of Children was organized by Regional Centre, Indore on 30 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: help parents to be aware with various issues children face; enable parents to play an active role in helping children to deal effectively with the various problems children face. Eighty two participants attended the workshop.

  • Orientation Training Programme for ICDS Functionaries on SABLA, IGMSY Schemes Activity was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 1-3 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: Orient the participants to Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls-SABLA, IGMSY and Use of MCP Card to tackle the inter-generational cycle of malnutrition effectively; apprise the participants of their role and responsibilities in the schemes; and share the training modules developed for SABLA. Thirty participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Protection Issues of Children for District/Block Level PRI Members was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 1-3 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on various factors affecting the development of women and children; appraise the participants about the child protection issues; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to protection of children; discuss the role of elected members in promoting and effective implementation of child protection programmes. Eleven participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Recent Developments and Communitization in ICDS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow at Pilibhit from 1-3 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: Enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDs services. Fifty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Refresher Training Programme for Protection Officers under ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 1-5 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing juvenile system and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and role of various stakeholders under JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of (non-institutional care) in implementation of ICPS in the district; build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at district level; and develop managerial competencies to carry out the responsibilities as protection officers. Twenty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Incorporating Gender Issues in Disaster Management was organised by Headquarters from 1-5 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance understanding of participants about basic gender concepts and gender differentiation; develop clear perspective of the differential impact of disasters on women and children; underscore the importance of gender analysis of relief interventions and coping strategies; identify key gender related issues to be considered in disaster management phases; and evolve strategies for integrating gender perspective in the overall planning of disaster management. Twenty-six participants attended the programme.

Thirty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 for Police Personnel was organised by Regional Centre Guwahati from 2-4 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012; sensitize the participants about sexual offences committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; develop skill to handle cases of child sexual abuse; discuss about the problems in the implementation of the Act. Twenty-five participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Medical Officers was organised by Headquarters on 5 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and role and responsibilities Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents in implementation of the Act; discuss with them about medical and forensic services in cases of child victims of sexual offences and to protect child rights; and discuss about problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in cases of sexual offences against children. Twenty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme on Child Protection for Project Coordinators of Open Shelters under ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 8-10 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: Orient the importance of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, the linkages and importance of networking and partnership; discuss the role of open shelters in ICPS; understand the importance of Minimum Standards of Care in open shelters; build managerial competencies among the participants for managing open shelters. Thirty-two participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Programme on Fund Raising Techniques and Resource Management for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 8-12 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: acquaint the representatives of Voluntary organizations on the methods and techniques of Fund raising; impart knowledge on need for developing internal controls and accounting systems for effective utilization and management of funds; discuss the potential and strategies through various media for resource mobilization; and appraise the participants on legal and administrative compliance stipulated for Voluntary Organizations. Twenty-three participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for MLTCs/AWTCs was organised by Headquarters from 8-11 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on infant and young child feeding; to build the counseling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; to learn the growth monitoring and measuring; to practice IYCF counseling with emphasis on correct positioning, helping mothers to breast feed through clinical practice. Twenty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training for the Superintendants, Welfare Officers of CCIs and Counsellors of Open Shelters was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 8-12 February 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and programmes etc. Thirty-two participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Establishment and Management of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 8-12 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on establishing a voluntary organisation, process of Institution building, administration and management; help them learn planning and designing project proposals;orient them about ways and means of resource mobilisation from various sources and effective financial management; and apprise them of techniquesof good governance and to enhance their professional skills to make their programmes sustainable. Eighteen participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Prevention of Child Marriage, Female Foeticide and Infanticide for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 9-11 February 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on issues of child marriages and gender violence with special reference of female foeticide and infanticide; discuss policies and legislations to curb female foeticide and infanticide; and analyze the current situation and provide suggestive strategies to minimize the problem and strengthen existing mechanism. Thirty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training on Preparation of Teaching Aids for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 10-12 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: Develop a better understanding of early childhood years, ECD, ECCD, ECCE and linkages with one another among the trainees; make them understand the issues relating to ECCE in the light of national policy of ECCE and restructured ICDS, and enable the Instructors to impart effective training on ECCE and guide AWWs and Supervisors for proper delivery of ECCE programme to ensure optimum early childhood development in children. Twenty-six participants attended the training.
  • Sensitisation Programme on Holistic Development of Adolescents in Tea Garden Areas was organised by Regional Centre Guwahati from 10-12 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: deepen the understanding of the participants about physical and psychological changes during adolescence and challenges of adolescents in tea garden areas; apprise them about the reproductive, health, educational, and nutritional issues of adolescents; and make the participants understand about their role in healthy development of adolescents. Thirty-three participants attended the programme.

  • Programme for Capacity Building of Stakeholders on Child Protection was organised by Headquarters at Pune from 15-17 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand salient features of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act; and develop an Action Plan for the Stakeholders for effective child care and protection in the region. Twenty-seven participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation programme on Protection Issues of Children for District/Block Level PRI Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 15-17 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on various factors affecting the development of women and children; appraise the participants about the child protection issues; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to protection of children; discuss the role of elected members in promoting and effective implementation of child protection programmes. Eleven participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for MLTCs/AWTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 15-18 February 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding; build the counseling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; learn the growth monitoring and measuring; and practice IYCF counseling with emphasis on correct positioning, helping mothers to breast feed through clinical practice. Thirteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Vertical training programme for Block Level ICDS functionaries of ICDS was organised by Regional Centre Guwahati from 15-19 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; and work jointly and formulate action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of services. Sixty participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Programme on Planning and Designing a Project Proposal for Executives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 15-19 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on establishing a voluntary organisation, process of Institution building, administration and management; help them learn planning and designing project proposals;orient them about ways and means of resource mobilisation from various sources and effective financial management; and apprise them of techniquesof good governance and to enhance their professional skills to make their programmes sustainable. Sixteen participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training on Community Mobilisation, Advocacy, Awareness and IEC Campaign on Issues Relating to Child Development was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 15-19 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilisation, participation, advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign;improve skills of participants in methods and techniques of motivating and mobilising commuity for awareness generation & IEC camapaign; and enable the participants to elicit community participation, awareness and campaign for implementing ICDS Programme effectively. Twenty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Experiences in using Track Child Portal for Child Protection was organised by Headquarters from 16-17 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge-base and skills of the participants to 'Track Child Portal for Child Protection'; deliberate upon the issues and challenges in using the Track Child Portal; and suggest ways and means for evolving mechanism for more effective problem resolution in use of Track Child Portal. Fifty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme for Mother NGOs of Health Ministry on Growth Monitoring and Mother & Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 16-18 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: impart technical skills for weighing of children and plotting of weight on the new WHO growth charts; interpret the growth charts, identify guidance messages and impart beginning skills for counselling the mothers and identify different ways in which Mother & Child Protection Card can be sued for enhancing knowledge of mothers in improving health and nutritional care practices. Eighteen participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization programme for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Strengthening and Restructuring of ICDS Programme Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 16-18 February 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the Instructors to the recent initiatives to strenghthen and restructure the ICDS programme; acquaint the Instructors with the mechanisms evolved for implementaation of ICDS in mission mode and enable the Instructors to act as trainer for orienting the AWWs/Supervisors on the restructured programme. Twenty-nine participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training on Identification of Problems and Promotion of Cognitive Development in Early Childhood years for ICDS Officials and Civil Society Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 17-19 February 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about growing importance of cognitive development among early childhood children; orient them about factors affecting cognitive development with emphasis on heredity, nutrition, health, school and home environment; and develop strategies for promoting cognitive development during early childhood years. Twenty-nine participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Workshop for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18-19 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006; orient the participants about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options and; discuss relevance of non-Institutional Services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; and understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Thirty participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Workshops on Integrated Child Protection for Superintendents and Care Givers was organised by Headquarters on 19 and 20 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: share the present status of child protection under Juvenile Justice System and ICPS in the States; discuss the experiences in providing care & protection to children and share challenges at Child Care Institutions (CCI) level; and come out with effective strategies for enhancing child care and protection services under revised ICPS. In all thirty-four participants attended the workshop.

  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre Guwahati from 22-26 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of restructured & strengthened ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. Twenty-two participants attended the course.

  • Workshop on Critical Issues in Dealing with Children in Need of Care and Protection for Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) was organised by Headquarters from 25-26 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children) Act, 2015; share the situation related to children in conflict with law in the States and; come out with effective strategies for implementation of JJ Act. Thirteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 for Law Enforcement Agencies/SJPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-26 February, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012; sensitize the participants about sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; and suggest measures in combating problems and constraints in implementation of the Act. Twenty-four participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Training on Micro-Finance and Income Generation through MED Activities for Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 29 Feb. -4 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants to the concept and micro- finance and income generation activities; impart knowledge and skills for viable economic activities, credit, marketing and other supportive services for micro-finance; help the participants to understand the role of NGOs as micro-finance institutions for income generation activities; develop the skills of NGOs for effectivefinancial management and reporting; and share the experiences of participants on the management of micro-enterprise.   • Training Programme on Counselling Interventions for Children Affected by Trauma, Abuse and Neglect was organised by Headquarters at Bengaluru from 29 Feb-4 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand the linkages between neglect, abuse and trauma and its impact on the development of children; orient them to the basic counseling interventions for addressing the psychosocial needs of children and provide opportunities for hands on training to sharpen the skills and attitudes for working with children.   • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Headquarters from 2-4 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places.   • Orientation workshop for members of JJBs on Child Protection was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 7-8 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the members of JJBs to the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act 2015, ICPS; develop clarity and understanding in them about their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Act; and help them to facilitate the speedy disposal of cases.   • Orientation Programme on Counselling Skills for Institutions Providing Care to Distressed Women was organised by Headquarters from 7-11 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about magnitude, causes, nature and manifestation of violence against women in India; develop understanding about the trauma faced by distressed women; provide insight on the policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women in distress; promote networking among NGOs and Institutions providing support services to women in distress; and enhance communication and counselling skills for providing psychosocial support to distressed women.   • Training Programme on Project Formulation and Fund Raising Techniques for Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 7-11 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: update the participants about the project formulation techniques for development interventions; strengthen the knowledge base of participants in financial management and planning; orient the participants about fund raising techniques; and impart knowledge on internal control, accounting systems and income tax rules and procedures.   • Orientation training on POCSO Act 2012 for school principals and teachers was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 11 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the principals and teachers about the sexual offences committed against children and provision to deal with the problem under POCSO Act 2012; sensitise the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; and develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act.   • Orientation Course for CDPOs on Prevention of Malnutrition & Mortality among Women and Children of High Burden Districts was organised by Headquarters from 14-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of the CDPOs with regard to current situation of nutrition in the States; apprise them about the recent updates and development in the field of nutrition; equip them to draw up plans for identification and intervention programme for areas with higher incidences of malnutrition and mortality.   • Orientation Programme on Formation and Management of Women's SHGs/Clusters and Federations was organised by Headquarters from 14-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and need of Self Help Groups (SHGs), Clusters and Federations; enable them to acquire knowledge and skills on formation and management of clusters and federations; discuss the importance of cluster, federation and networking; and acquaint the participants about the rules and regulations in forming federations and good practices relating to successful SHGs as Clusters and Federations.   • Training Programme on Developing Counseling Skills for Middle Level Functionaries of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 14-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the counselors of Child Care Institutions to definition, principles, elements and stages of counseling; enable them to develop communication skills required in counseling process; acquaint them to various techniques of counseling for their application in their work situations; and make the participants aware regarding the ethics in counseling and in providing necessary relief to the children in need of care and protection and traumatized children.   • Training Programme on Planning And Designing A Project Proposal for Executives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 14-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on the need and importance of a project; enhance knowledge base and skills of the participants to the techniques of the planning, designing and presenting, effective project proposals; develop skills in cost estimation and working out mechanism for monitoring and sustainability for a project; and analyze pitfalls in planning and designing project proposals.   • Orientation Programme for Superintendents/Social Workers/Probation officers/Case Workers of CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 14-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child right and protection in the Indian context; orient about the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and theiir Inter-linkages; and develop understanding on various issues concerning juveniles in conflict with law, the existing JJ system and the prevailing legislation to address these issues.   • Orientation Training on Mobilization and Management of Community Resources for Representatives of Civil Society was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 14-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about the need to mobilize the community for development programmes; orient participants about community mobilization techniques; and discuss the importance of PLA activities for community involvement in development programmes.   • Regional Workshop on Socio Economic Development of Women through Micro Entrepreneurship was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 15-17 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the concept of empowerment of women with emphasis on socio economic development of women; provide a forum for sharing the experiences and good practices of micro enterprise for women; delineate the issues related to development of entrepreneurial skills in women and promotion of micro enterprise through networking and coordination; discuss entrepreneurship opportunities for women and management of microenterprises; and formulate strategies for preparation of business plan for starting micro enterprises.   • Sensitization Programme for DPOs & CDPOs on Sneha Shivir was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 16-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: support development of skills that assist in assessment and analysis of nutritional status of children; orient about the community mobilization techniques; help them in planning of nutritional counselling sessions for their community; and explain about the follow up and monitoring formats of Sneha Shivir.   • Training of Trainers of SIRDs on Communitisation of ICDS and Village Convergence & Facilitation Service (VCFS) was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 16-18 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: strengthen the delivery system of ICDS training and improving its implementation in high burden districts; capacity building of the Master Trainers of SIRDs who in turn will be involved with the task to conduct the training programme for the district officials on Communitisation of ICDS and Village Convergence & Facilitation Service (VCFS) in their states.   • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Magistrates and Members of JJBs and SJPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-22 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: : develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development;sensitize and orient the participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000, its ammendement Act 2006 and ICPS and POCSO Act, 2012; and orient the participants about the roles and responsibilities of Juvenile Justice Boards and SJPUs as well as experiences and challlenges facced by JJB memebers and SJPU functionries and come out with effective strategies for implementation of JJ Act.   • Orientation Training Programme on Combating Violence against Women for Government and Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 28 March-1 April, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective among participants about gender based violence; provide insight on the policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women and girls to curb the problem; build capacities to provide services to survivors of violence including counseling, livelihood and rehabilitation; and evolve strategies for combating violence against women and children.   • Parental workshop on "Adolescents of today and need of Parental support in building their future was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Pamohi, Garchuk on 30 March, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs and holistic development of the adolescent children; and help parents to help their children to cope with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for their optimum development.   • Vertical Training Programme on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters at Guru Govind Singh Hospital from 11-13 April 2016 with the main objectives to: impart technical knowledge and Young Child Feeding Practices; demonstrate IYCF counselling skills for correct positioning and enabling mothers to breastfeed; demonstrate problem solving and counselling skills towards correct complementary feeding practices. Thirty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Course on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) for Instructors of MLTCs/AWTCs was organised by Headquarters from 11-13 April 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge on the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; enhance understanding related to strategic shifts in SBCC and the basic steps in conducting a perceptions study; explain and apply the SBCC planning process for developing a strategic communication; and enhance understanding of principles of monitoring and evaluation process to assess effectiveness of communication. Fifteen participants attended the Orientation Course.
  • Awareness Camp on Life Skills Education for Parents and Adolescents was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 12 April 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize growing problems and challenges of adolescent girls; orient parents about coping with problems of adolescent girls and their management; and acquaint participants with Life Skill Education for holistic development. Fifty one participants attended the awareness camp.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs is being organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18 April-18 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs to various components of ICDS scheme; enable them to understand their own role, as well as the roles and responsibilities of other functionaries under the Scheme; equip them with adequate knowledge and skills for providing the job training to peripheral workers of the scheme and facilitate them to develop skill necessary for administration and management on the ICDS scheme. Currently, thirty-five participants are attending the course.
  • Orientation Workshop for Members of JJBs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 21–22 April 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006 vis-à-vis ICPS; create clarity and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of members of JJBs and different personnel involved in the implementation of the Act; facilitate sharing of best practices for strengthening implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; create awareness on the role of NGOs and community as provided in the Act; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; and facilitate the speedy disposal of cases. Twenty-five participants attended the workshop.
  • District level Awareness Camp on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Barpeta on 22 April 2016 with the main objectives to: create awareness on the significance of the Act and its implementation; and sensitize the role of different stakeholders in protecting children from sexual offences. Seventy-four participants attended the awareness camp.
  • Training on Recent Initiatives in Child Rights and Child Protection for the ICPS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-27 April 2016 with the main objectives to: review the Child Rights and Child Protection Mechanism; orient on recent initiatives for child rights and child protection under ICPS; discuss the role and responsibilities of various ICPS functionaries under these initiatives; and to develop strategies for effective implementation of recent initiatives under ICPS. Twenty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training on New MIS & use of MCP Card for Instructors of AWTCs & MLTCs was organised by Headquarters from 25-27 April 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of New MIS and Use of MCP card; familiarize the participants with issues relating to MIS related procedures, activities ; health and nutrition issues linked to MCP card its usage and implementation; and enable participants to impart meaningful training programme to the Supervisors and AWWs on new MIS and MCP Card. Thirteen participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Two Refresher Courses for CDPOs / ACDPOs were organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru and Regional Centre, Indore from 25–29 April 2016 with the main objectives to: provide a forum for sharing experiences; appraise them on the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development; sharpen the skills in communication, counseling and the management; and assess training needs of CDPOs/ACDPOs. Nineteen participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Training for Protection Officers (Institutional Care and Non-Institutional Care) on Juvenile Justice System was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 25-29 April 2016 with the main objectives to: develop understanding of the Protection Officers on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law; orient them on their job responsibilities and also on existing Juvenile Justice system and the prevailing laws in the country to address these issues; and enhance their skills in effective implementation of child protection plan at the district level. Fifty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on sustainable Interventions Strategy for Management of Women SHGs was organised by Headquarters from 25-29 April 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to concept, need and management of SHGs, clusters and federations; orient them to the techniques and steps for sustainable interventions strategy in formation of SHGs; acquaint them about the rules and regulations in forming SHGs and federations and good practices relating to successful SHGs; evolving the strategies for management of SHGs through networking, discuss about marketing strategy for the women SHGs. Sixteen participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation Course on Counselling for the Counsellors of Family Counselling Centers was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 26-28 April 2016 with the main objectives to: acquaint the trainees with essential elements of counseling; equip them with techniques of counselling; and introduce them alternative approaches to counselling. Twenty-eight participants attended the course.
  • Workshop for School Teachers on Identification and Management of Behavioural Problems among School Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 28-29 April 2016 with the main objectives to: acquaint the teachers about the nature and magnitude of behavior problems of children; familiarize them with the process and methods of identification of children with behavioural problems; and sensitize the teachers to the behavioural modification Techniques and providing support environment at school. Forty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on Experiences in Using Track Child Portal for Child Protection was organised by Headquarters from 28-29 April 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge-base and skills of the participants to 'Track Child Portal for Child Protection; deliberate upon the issues and challenges in using the Track Child Portal; and suggest ways and means for evolving mechanism for more effective problem resolution in use of Track Child Portal.   • Sensitization programme on POCSO Act 2012 for Legal-Cum-Probation Officers was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 3-4 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the legal cum probation officers of ICPS on the issues of child sexual abuse; orient them to the salient feature of the POCSO Act 2012 and the relevant rules and its implementation; and apprise them on the role and responsibilities of the legal-cum-probation officers and the different stake holders in providing relief to the children survivors of sexual abuse. Forty-four participants attended the orientation training.
  • Sensitization Programme for Members of SJPUs and Probation Officers on J.J. System and ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 3-5 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on UNCRC and Constitutional safeguards for children; enable them to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; create clarity and understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Act; and ensure speedy disposal of cases and orient them to the main features of ICPS: its components and approaches. Fifty participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Programme for Mother NGOs under Health Ministry on Growth Monitoring and Usage of Mother and Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 4-6 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the functionaries of MNGOs/FNGOs to the New WHO Child Growth standards and the joint MCP Card and equip them with necessary skills to use new WHO growth chart and joint MCP Card in ICDS. Seventeen participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation on Schemes/Programmes of Ministry of Women & Child Development for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 4-6 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient participants on programmes/schemes related to women and children; and share with the participants the procedures/guidelines for getting financial assistance from Government. Nineteen participants attended the course.
  • Stock Taking Review Meet on Rolling out of ECCE Curriculum was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 6 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of annual contextualized ECCE curriculum in the States; understand the challenges in the process of rolling out; and discuss about the possible solution strategies to meet the challenges. Eighteen participants attended the Review Meet.
  • Two Training Programmes of Master Trainers on Child Adoption Related Issues were organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Bengaluru and ICSSR, Chandigarh from 6-7 May, 2016 and 20-21 May, 2016 respectively. The main objectives of the programme were to: enable the participants to develop basic understanding on child protection issues, mechanisms to deal with CNCP and adoption and counseling of PAPs; make them aware of guidelines and procedures for adoption, foster care and UID Aadhaar enrolment as a requirement of children to be given in adoption; and expose the participants to the working of CARINGS. In all, fifty one participants attended the training programmes.
  • Training Course on Enhancement of Training Skills for ICDS Trainers was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 9-12 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on adult learning cycle; enable participants for Training Need Assessment (TNA); and equip the participants with various training technologies. Twenty-four participants attended the course.
  • Workshop on Establishing and Managing a Voluntary Organisation for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters from 9-13 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants towards establishing a voluntary organization, process of Institution building, and its administration and management; help them to learn planning and designing project proposals ways and means of resource mobilization; discuss issues related to good governance, accountability and transparency in voluntary organizations. Seventeen participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme on Project Formulation and Financial Management of Programmes related to Women was organised by Headquarters from 9-13 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on preparation of a project; enhance the knowledge of the participants in conceptualizing, formulating and executing projects; develop skills in working out mechanisms for monitoring, evaluation and sustainability of a project and; hone skills of the participants in planning, organizing, directing and controlling the financial activities and resources. Twelve participants attended the Orientation programme.
  • Orientation training on supportive interventions for children with learning and behavioural problems was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 9-13 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the teachers to understand the challenges faced by children in contemporary society and the role of schools in supporting their development; orient them to various learning and behavioural difficulties in children; enhance the ability of the teachers to identify early symptoms of learning and behaviour problems in children; and critically apprise them with the strategies to promote emotional well being and achievement in children. Forty seven participants attended the orientation training.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Protection Officers of ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 11-12 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of POs (non-institutional care) in implementation of ICPS in the district; build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at the district level; and develop managerial competencies to carry out the responsibilities as Protection officers. Thirty seven participants attended the programme.
  • Certificate Course on Child and Adolescent Counselling is being organised by Headquarters from 16 May-17 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the teachers to understand the challenges of children in contemporary society and the role of schools in supporting their development; critically apprise them with the strategies to promote emotional wellbeing and achievement in children so that the children are able to meet developmental goals; orient them to the various learning and behavior difficulties in children and the special needs of children in difficult situations; enhance the ability of the teachers to identify early symptoms of learning and behavior problems in children and carry out informal assessments; provide comprehensive skills in counselling children and families for promoting emotional wellbeing of children and provide skills in carrying out awareness and sensitization workshops for Teachers and Parents on significant mental health concerns relating to children and growing up. Thirty-three participants are attending the course.
  • Orientation Programme on Holistic Development of Adolescent Girls was organised by Headquarters from 16-20 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about status of children, especially adolescents in India; develop an understanding about gender discrimination and its implications on overall development and empowerment needs of adolescent girls; apprise the participants about various Government policies, programmes, legislations and initiatives for holistic development of adolescent girls; evolve strategies for empowerment of adolescent girls involving different stakeholders. Twenty-seven participants attended the Orientation programme.
  • Training on Skill Development, Marketing and Income Generation Activities for NGOs and ICDS Functionaries of Western Region was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 16-20 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about skill development training and Income Generation Activities for development of women; develop skill among participants in convergence of services with vocational training institutions; and enhance capabilities of participants in marketing skills and networking through information technology and indigenous resources. Twenty-eight participants attended the training.
  • Orientation Training on Schemes/Programmes of Ministry of Women and Child Development for Functionaries of VOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 17-19 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of participants and to sensitize them about situation of women and children; impart knowledge about administrative machinery for advancement of women; discuss modalities for implementation of schemes; and orient them about their roles and responsibilities in implementation of schemes at grass root level. Thirty-nine participants attended the training.
  • Parental workshop on Autism and Interventions was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 18 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about Autism and special characteristics of Autistic children; and help parents, teachers and service providers to help their Autistic children to cope up with their needs, environment, academics and social skills for optimum realization of their potentialities. Fifty five participants who attended the workshop, included parents, teachers and service providers.
  • Training Programme on Identification and Management of Malnutrition for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18-20 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the understanding of the ICDS functionaries with regard to nutritional status of women & children in southern States; appraise them about the recent development in the field of nutrition; equip them with knowledge on community based management of moderate and severe under nutrition in children and develop plan of action to address and prevent malnutrition in children through ICDS. Thirty-one participants attended the training programme.
  • Training on Functionaries of Child Care Institutions on Management of Children with Special Needs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 18-20 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient on present scenario of children with special needs (CWSN); discuss on various guideline / legislations / schemes for children with special needs; develop competency among participants for identification, functional assessment of children with special need in CCIs; build competencies of participants to manage diverse needs of children with special needs; and develop strategies for inclusion of children with special need. Thirty-two participants attended the training programme.

Seventeen participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation training for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on restructuring of ICDS and New MIS was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 23-27 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the instructors to the recent initiative in respect of strengthening and restructuring the ICDS and New MIS; acquaint them with the mechanisms evolved for implementation of ICDS in Mission mode; and enable them to develop understanding about correct method of maintenance of different registers of New MIS and to be able to orient the AWWs/ Supervisors on the restructured ICDS programme. Twenty-three participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 24-26 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand Reproductive Health; enable the participants to understand basics of HIV/AIDS; discuss the existing strategies on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS; enable the participants to develop skills for effective communication; and facilitate the participants to develop holistic programmes on promoting safe reproductive health and preventing HIV/AIDS. Thirty-seven participants attended the training.
  • Skill Training Programme on Assessment of Child Learning Outcomes for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters from 25-27 May, 2016 with the main objectives to: appraise the ICDS functionaries to the concept of child learning outcomes; make them understand the importance of adequate child learning outcome for later learning and development; help them to visualize the link between the quality of ECE programme and child learning outcome; and develop the skill of ICDS functionaries for assessing children's learning. Twenty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Two Training programmes for Master Trainers on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao were organised by Headquarters at Mohali and Chandigarh on 21 May, 2016 and 27 May, 2016, respectively. The main objectives of the programmes were to: provide guidance and awareness about the BBBP Scheme; train the functionaries as catalysts for social change and to mobilize the community for its engagement for improving the CS, Sex Ration at Birth (SRB) and enrolment and retention of girl child in schools; and provide information for better inter-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence at district/block/grass-root levels and plan advocacy campaigns for social and behavior change. In all, one hundred forty nine participants attended the training programmes.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Headquarters at Gurdaspur. from 30 May-3 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty-five participants are attending the vertical training.
  • Orientation Course for the Functionaries of Monitoring and Evaluation for Development Programmes for Women and Children was organised by Headquarters from 30 May-3 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of monitoring and evaluation in social development programmes; apprise the participants to the latest methods/techniques of monitoring and evaluations of the programmes and enhance the skills of participants for quality monitoring and supervision of women and child development programmes. Eighteen participants are attending the orientation course.
  • Job Training Course for Supervisors is being organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 30 May-28 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: train and orient the supervisors to various components of the scheme of the ICDS; enable them to understand their roles and responsibilities as well as those of other functionaries of the scheme; and enhance their skills necessary for supervision of programme implementation and general administration. Thirty-five participants are attending the course.

  • Orientation Training for ICDS Officials and Trainers on Early Detection, Prevention and Management of Children with Special Needs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 1-3 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on various types of disabilities and different definitions; discuss on various guideline / legislations / schemes for children with special needs; develop competency among participants for screening and identification of children with special needs at AWCs; build competencies of participants to manage diverse needs of children with special needs; and develop strategies for inclusion of children with special need. Twenty eight participants attended the training programme.
  • Training on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for NGOs/Youth Clubs/ Youth Groups was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 2-3 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and the Criminal Amendment Act, 2013; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequence trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; orient them about different support and rehabilitation services available for victims of sexual offences under POCSO Act & Rules 2012; and discuss about difficulties/problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in solving these problems. Thirty-three participants attended the training programme.

  • Orientation Training on Capacity Building of Women through Leadership Development was organised by Headquarters from 6-10 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the evolution of leadership and its relevance for women; discuss the scope and existing mechanisms that foster leadership development among women; understand the role of change agents in developing skills and capacities of women for taking up leadership roles; and promote networking and partnership among organisations working for capacity building of women. Twenty one participants attended the training programme.
  • Training on Developing Counseling Skills for Counsellors and Case Workers of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 6-10 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to definition, principles, elements and stages of counseling; enable them to develop communication skills required in counseling process; acquaint them to various techniques of counseling for their use in their work situations; and make the participants aware regarding the ethics in counseling and in providing necessary relief to the children in need of care and protection and traumatized children. Fifty one participants attended the training programme.

  • Orientation Programme on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women was organised by Headquarters from 13-17 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective about basic gender concepts and gender equality; enhance the understanding of the participants on various aspects of women's empowerment including social, economic, political, legal empowerment etc; apprise them about the policies and programmes of Government for women empowerment; and provide knowledge and skills on mainstreaming gender in development programmes to enlarge the scope of women empowerment and gender equality. Thirty participants attended the training programme.
  • Training on Community Mobilization, Advocacy, Awareness and IEC Campaign on the issues relating to Child Development was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 13-17 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation, IPC, mass media, campaigns etc. for advocacy and awareness generation; enhance skills of the participants in methods and techniques of motivating and mobilizing community on issues relating to child development; guide them in designing IEC material on issues relating to child development; and develop workable action plans for community mobilsation in their ICDS projects. Thirty-two participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Counselling for Social Workers & Counsellors of ICPS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 13-17 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning to children in need of care and protection and conflict with law, the existing Juvenile Justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages; discuss the role of Social Workers in implementation of ICPS in the district; evolve strategy for networking convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at the district level; and develop competencies to carry out the responsibilities as social workers. Twenty-five participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training for Trainers of AWTCs/ MLTCs/ STIs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 13-21 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: apprise the newly appointed Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs/STIs about the ICDS programme and its services; orient them on early childhood care and development including child health, nutrition and education; familiarize them with the training syllabi of AWWs; and build up their training and communication skills. Fourteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Programme on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) for MLTCs/AWTCs organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Indore from 14-17 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding; build the counselling skills on exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding; learn the growth monitoring and measuring; and practice IYCF counselling with emphasis on correct positioning, helping mothers to breast feed through clinical practice. Thirty four participants attended the training.
  • Training on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for Police/SJPU was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 15-16 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and the Criminal Amendment Act, 2013; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequence trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; and discuss about difficulties/problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in solving these problems. Thirty participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Course on the Care of Children Under-Two for Functionaries of VOs running Government Programmes was organised by Headquarters from 20-24 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues relating to health, nutrition and psycho-social development of children under-two; and equip them with necessary skills for dealing with issues relating to health, nutrition and psycho-social development of children under-two. Fourteen participants attended the course.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Protection Officers of DCPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 20-24 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: examine the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing Juvenile justice System and the prevailing laws concerning children; orient the features of ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their interlinkages; discuss the role of POs in implementation of ICPS in the district; evolve strategy for networking convergence and coordination mechanisms under ICPS; build capacities to develop and implement child protection plan at the district level; and develop managerial competencies to carry out the responsibilities as DCPOs.   • Four Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organised by Headquarters and Regional Centres Lucknow, Indore and Bengaluru from 20-24 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of restructured & strengthened ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills. In all hundred & eleven participants attended these courses.
  • Training on Fund Raising Techniques and Resource Management for VOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-23 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the representatives of NGOs on the techniques of fund raising and resource management; enable them to understand the need to reduce their dependency on donor agencies by developing necessary skills to adopt a sustainable alternatives for programme implementation; and enable the participants to manage their financial matters efficiently and get acquainted with the legal framework for voluntary organization. Twenty two participants attended the training programme.
  • Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 25 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parent's skill to play an active role in helping children to deal effectively with the various problems children face. Two hundred seventy four participants attended the workshop.
  • Training on Counselling Skills for the Counselors of Family Counseling Centres was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 27-29 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on the provisions of the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence' Act, 2005; provide counselling skills to participants to enhance their capacity in running FCCs; and discuss the functions of family counseling centres and coordination among different stakeholders. Fifty-five participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Critical Issues in Dealing with Children in Need of Care and Protection for District Child Protection Officers (DCPOs) was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 28-29 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: share the present status of child protection related activities and ICPS in the States; share the experiences in putting the knowledge about child protection and acre to use at the field level and challenges faced; and evolve effective strategies and solutions for better implementation of JJ Act/ICPS. Thirteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Training Programme on Gender Budgeting for Officials and Non-officials of Western Region was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 28-30 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about issues of women empowerment; orient participants about concept, need and importance of gender budgeting; and improve skills in planning for gender budgeting in Government and voluntary sectors. Twenty-three participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop for School Teachers on Identification and Management of Behavioural Problems among School Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 29-30 June, 2016 with the main objectives to: acquaint the teachers about the nature and magnitude of behavior problems of children; familiarize them with the process and methods of identification of children with behavioural problems; and sensitize the teachers to the behavioural modification Techniques and providing support environment at school. Fifteen participants attended the workshop.

  • The Institute's Headquarters and Regional Centres are currently engaged in collecting information from crèches run by ICCW throughout the country, as a part of the joint team comprising officials from MWCD, CSWB, FNB and NIPCCD.

Regular Training Programmes

  • Orientation Workshop for Chairpersons and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 4-5 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006 vis-à-vis ICPS; discuss relevance of non-institutional services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options and orient the participants about different roles and responsibilities being carried out by; and functioning of Child Welfare Committees; Thirty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Training of Trainers on Communitisation of ICDS and Village Convergence & Facilitation Service (VCFS) was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 7-9 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: to strengthen the delivery system of ICDS training and improving its implementation in high burden districts; and capacity building of the Master Trainers of SIRDs who in turn will be involved with the task to conduct the training programme for the district officials on Communitisation of ICDS and Village Convergence & Facilitation Service (VCFS) in their States. Thirty-eight participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Research and Documentation Techniques in Social Development Projects for Representatives of Government and VOs was organised by Headquarters from 11-15 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss with the participants about the significance of research and documentation in conceiving and implementing social development projects; expose them to various research and documentation techniques which could be adopted by the participants in designing/scrutinizing/reviewing social development projects and facilitate them to enhance their skills in applying these techniques in social development projects. Twenty four participants attended the workshop.
  • Three Job Training Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs are being organised by the Institute with the main objectives to: orient the trainee CDPOs/ ACDPOs about ICDS Programme – its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries with respect to restructured and strengthened ICDS and New Who Child Growth Standards, MCP card, schemes of SABLA & IGMSY; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. Out of these, two courses are being organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Lucknow from 11 July-9 August, 2016 and third course is being organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 13 July–11 August, 2016. In all eighty six participants are attending these courses.
  • Skill Training on New MIS for ICDS Officials and Trainers was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 12-14 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: appraise the participants about the concept and significance of Management Information System in ICDS; orient the participants about the new Management Information System (MIS) in ICDS scheme; and guide the participants about utilization of MPR data in ICDS. Eleven participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitization programme on child abuse for Principals/ Vice Principals of Government schools of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 13-15 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the Principals and Vice Principals of Government schools to the issues of child abuse with reference to occurrence, types and consequences; make the Principals aware about legislative measures pertaining to protection of children from abuse; and enable them to take appropriate action for addressing the issue of child abuse in schools. Twenty seven participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Awareness Programme on Mental Health Needs and Services for School Management / Administration and Educationists was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 15 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss and understand the needs and problems of children in schools and institutions; develop positive mental health attitudes, values and beliefs which facilitate their functioning with children; and enhance knowledge and understanding of biological constructs and socio-cultural paths in the context of counseling. Forty seven participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programmes of Master Trainers on Child Adoption related Issues was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 15-16 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about child adoption procedures and issues. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Criminal Law Amendment Act, 2013 and IPC (45 of 1860) related to Crime Against Women was organised by Headquarters from 18-19 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on legislative amendments relating to various sections under IPC and Criminal Law Amendment Act 2013; capacity building of the participants on practical problems faced in interpretation of various sections relating to crime against women; and amendments if any to be suggested in relation to the existing laws relating to women etc. Twenty-four participants attended the orientation training.
  • Skill Training on Counselling for School Counsellors of Western Region was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 19-22 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient with the behavioural, emotional, scholastic problems children face in school set up; acquaint them with ethical standards of counselling and psychological assessment; and enhance the essential counselling skills required for individual and group counselling to meet the developmental, preventive, and remedial needs of students. Twenty nine participants attended the skill training.
  • Workshop on Fund Raising and Building Corporate-VO Partnership for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters from 20-22 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: share the fund raising know how and techniques; enhance the skills for effective management and sustenance of funds for financial self-reliance; and discuss the strategies to build up a strong and meaningful Corporate-VO Partnership and deliberate upon legal and ethical issues concerning voluntary organisations. Eleven participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Legal Procedures for Officers dealing with PWDVA, 2005 was organised by Headquarters from 21-22 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on various provisions of the Act on "Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; discuss the roles and responsibilities of the Protection Officer, Service Providers and Police Personnel in Combatting Domestic Violence; and develop understanding on inter-agency response system for the effective implementation of the PWDVA, 2005. Thirty six participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 20-22 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: focus on the need and importance of Child Care Institution; orient on the role of superintendents of Child Care Institution; know about the ICPS Structure, Policies and Acts; sensitize the participants about the functions of Child Care Institutions; and facilitate adequate understanding about the needs and the psychological problems of children. Nineteen participants attended the orientation training.
  • Training on Fund Raising Techniques and Resource Management for Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 20-22 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: acquaint the representatives of voluntary organisations on fundraising techniques; impart knowledge on need for developing internal controls and accounting systems for effective utilization of funds and resources; orient them about ways and means of resource mobilization from various sources and methods of effective management; and discuss income tax rules and other financial procedures. Sixteen participants attended the training programme.

  • Orientation Programme for ICDS Functionaries on Laws Related to Women and Children was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 25-29 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on legal provisions/ issues relating the development and protection of women and children; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to women and children; discuss the role of ICDS functionaries in care and protection of women and children and also in accelerating the development process with regard to women and children; and strategize measures and awareness initiatives for prevention of violence against women and children in the community for developing viable action plans. Twenty nine participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation Programme for Extension Officers (WC) under Panchayats and Rural Development, Assam on Emerging Issues and Interventions for Development of Women and Children was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 26-28 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitise the officers of Rural Development to the emerging issues and problems of women and children; orient them to the programmes and interventions of WCD for women and children; and enable them to coordinate and converge with the allied departments and agencies for development of women and children. Thirty-four participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Management of Malnutrition for Functionaries of ICDS and NRHM of Western States was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 26-29 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about severity and magnitude of malnutrition among women and children; orient them about programmes and schemes of Government on eradication of Malnutrition; develop skills in coordination and convergence for prevention of Malnutrition and referral of severely malnourished; and develop strategy on effective home visits and counseling for positive behavioral change. Sixty-one participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Skill Training on ECCE for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 27-29 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop a better understanding of the concepts of early childhood years, ECD, ECCD, ECCE and linkages with one another among the trainees; make them understand the issues relating to ECCE in the light of national policy of ECCE and restructured ICDS, and enable the Instructors to impart effective training on ECCE and guide the AWWs and Supervisors for proper delivery of ECCE programme to ensure optimum early childhood development in children. Thirty-three participants are attending the skill training.
  • Orientation Programme for Mother NGOs of Health Ministry on Growth Monitoring and Usage of Mother & Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 27-29 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the functionaries of MNGOs/GHGOs to the New WHO Child Growth Standards and the joint MCP Card; and equip them with necessary skills to use new WHO growth chart and joint MCP card in ICDS. Twenty participants attended the orientation programme.

  • Parental Workshop on Understanding Adolescents and Parental Intervention was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Maligaon on 30 July, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of the children at Adolescence Stage ; and to help the parents to help their children to cope up with the physical, Emotional and Mental Changes during this period for optimum development.   • The 12th session of the one-year Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling commenced at Headquarters on 1 August, 2016, with the objectives to: explore and evolve attitudes, values and beliefs that facilitates work with children as mental health professionals; acquire knowledge and understanding of theoretical constructs and socio-cultural perspectives in the context of counselling; develop skills to plan, provide and monitor-counselling interventions for children and child- related systems; and develop skills of mobilizing resources and networking and collaborating with stakeholders. Twenty students are enrolled for the year 2016-17.

  • Skill Training Programme on Assessment of Child Learning Outcome for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 2-4 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: apprise the ICDS functionaries to the concept of child learning outcomes; make them understand about the need, importance and process of regular assessment of children to ensure adequate learning outcome of children; help them to visualize the link between the quality of ECE programme and child learning outcome; and develop the skills of ICDS functionaries for assessing children’s learning. Thirty-nine participants attended the skill training.
  • Orientation Training Programme for School Teachers on Learning and Behavioural Problems was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 2-4 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize teachers on mental health issues concerning children in schools; acquaint teachers with learning and behavioural problems of children; and to enable the teachers to develop a strategy for providing or seeking timely intervention from specialized agencies. Twenty-eight participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitization Training on Protection of Children against Sexual Offences POCSO Act, 2012 for Stakeholders was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 3-4 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the gender based violence and rights of children; apprise the participants of the salient features of the ‘Protection of Children from Sexual Offences’ (POCSO) Act and its Rules 2012; and orient them about the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in implementing the Act. Thirty six participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Counsellors and School Social Workers was organised by Headquarters from 4-5 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss various provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012; appreciate the linkage between neglect, abuse and trauma as also its impact on the development of children; and provide them necessary skills for imparting counselling to child victims of sexual abuse and their families. Nineteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme for Master Trainers on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme was organised by Headquarters at Raipur, Chhattisgarh on 6 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient them regarding Beti Bahao Beti Padhao and Village Convergence and Facilitation Services Scheme; sensitize and train the functionaries as catalysts for social change and to mobilize the community for its engagement for improving the CSR, Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) and enrolment and retention of girl child in schools; and orient the trainers about planning process of advocacy campaign for social and behaviour change. One hundred and six participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training on Growth Monitoring and Mother and Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 8-10 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the technical knowledge on Growth Monitoring & plotting; build the skills for usage and filling of Mother & Child Protection Card; and strengthen counselling through practice and mock sessions. Nineteen participants attended the skill training.
  • Training Programme on Economic Empowerment of Women for Chief Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations of Western Region was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 8-12 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient participants about latest policies and programmes on women; empowerment; develop skills in organizing and sustaining Women’s Groups; enhance capabilities of participants on convergence of services of; and women empowerment. Twenty-one participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme on Child Rights and Child Protection for District Child Protection Officers and Functionaries of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 8-12 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: provide an in- depth understanding of ICPS programme framework and the respective roles and responsibilities of District Child Protection Society; orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices, including various legislations related to children; and facilitate them in effectively discharging their duties. Forty-two participants attended the training programme.

  • Orientation Workshop on Child Rights and Child Protection for Magistrates and Members of JJBs and SJPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 10-11 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the juvenile justice (care and protection of children) act 2000, its amendment act 2006 and ICPS; orient the participants about the functioning, roles and responsibilities of Juvenile Justice Boards; understand and facilitate mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; discuss the efficacy of institutional & non-institutional services under the act; develop understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and enable effective assessment of options in the best interest of children and; understand the role of different stakeholders under Act. Twenty-two participants attended the orientation workshop.
  • Workshop on Incoprporating Gender Issues in Disaster Management was organised by Headquarters from 10-13 August,2016 with the main objectives to: develop a greater understanding of the differential impact of disasters and coping strategies on women/girls, men/boys; underscore the importance of gender analysis by focusing on consequences of seemingly gender sensitive interventions; identify key gender related issues to be considered in disaster management phases; and evolve strategy for integrating gender perspective in the overall planning of disaster management. Forty participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme on Identification and Management of Behavioral Problems of Children for Functionaries of CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 17-19 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on psycho social needs of children; orient the role of Superintendents of Child Care Institutions; know about the ICPS Structure, Policies and Acts; sensitize about the functioning of Child Care Institutions; and facilitate adequate understanding about the needs and the behaviour problems of children. Seventeen participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Police Officials was organised by Headquarters at Madhuban on 19 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act and Rules, 2012 and role of implementing agencies to protect child rights; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequent trauma faced by them; and discuss about problems in the implementation of the Act and skills to handle cases of child sexual abuse. Three hundred and fifty five participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Meeting for ICDS Nodal Officers dealing with Training of ICDS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters from 22-23 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants about recent developments in ICDS; discuss with them about strategies for making effective training plan of ICDS functionaries; and analyse the problems hindering successful implementation of ICDS programme. Thirty-two participants attended the meeting.
  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 22 August-21 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the CDPOs/ ACDPOs to various components of ICDS scheme; make them understand their role and roles of other functionaries of the project as well as other staff of the block; equip them to provide on the job orientation and guidance to the AWWs and Supervisors as and when needed; and help them acquire knowledge and information to enable them to develop necessary supervisory skills. Thirty-three participants attended the training.
  • Stock Taking Review Meet for Rolling Out of ECCE Curriculum was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 22 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum in the States; share the experience of challenges faced by the states in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the philosophy, Principles and components of the National ECCE Policy, Curriculum Framework and Quality Standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECCE Curriculum and its roll out Plan across the States; and discuss about the possible solutions strategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum in the States. Fifteen participants attended the meeting.
  • Workshop on Safety and Security of Girls in School was organized by Headquarters from 22-24 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on safety and security of school going girls; share government and non- government initiatives for safety of school girls; discuss the role of stakeholders in prevention of violence and protection of school going girls; and evolve strategies and interventions for ensuring safety of school going girls. Twenty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 23-24 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: share information about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; discuss ways of communicating with children about sexuality and guarding against child sexual abuse (CSA) and evolve ways and means to develop a strong system of initiating action against abusers of school-going children and preventive measures against child sexual abuse in educational institutions. Twenty-nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Training Programme on Growth Monitoring and MCP Card for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 24-26 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the situation of implementation of growth monitoring using new WHO child growth standards; enhance their skill in growth monitoring using WHO Growth standards and identify the gaps and rectify them; discuss the constraints and ways of strengthening the growth monitoring of children in ICDS; and orient the participants on the features of MCP Card and its utility as a monitoring tool. Twenty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Programme on Ensuring Food Safety and Maintaining Food Safety Standards in Supplementary Nutrition in ICDS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 29-31 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of safe food handling practices highlighting its importance in health and nutrition wellbeing; orient the participants to the food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; get an insight into food adulteration and the laws regulating the food safety; and discuss the role of ICDS functionaries in ensuring food safety at AWCs. Twenty-four participants attended the training.
  • Sensitization Programme on Beti Bachao & Beti Padhao and One Stop Centre Schemes for ICDS Officials and Trainers was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 29-31 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and One Stop Centre scheme of MWCD, Government of India; acquaint the participants with their role and responsibilities for effective implementation of these Schemes. Seventeen participants attended the programme.
  • Skill Training on New MIS and Use of MCP Card for Instructors of AWTCs & MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 29-31 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of New MIS and Use of MCP card; familiarize the participants with issues relating to MIS related procedures, activities; health and nutrition issues linked to MCP card, its usage and implementation; and enable participants to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs on new MIS and MCP Card. Twenty-eight participants attended the skill training.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children was organised by Headquarters from 29 August-1 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants about the nature and magnitude of trafficking of Women and Children; impart knowledge on legal framework; familiarize them about the role of Government and NGOs to address the problem; evolve strategy for prevention, protection and rehabilitation of women/child survivors of trafficking; and analyze the role of NGOs in prevention of trafficking of women and children. Ninteen participants attended the skill training programme.

  • Training on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for District child Protection Officers (DCPOs) of District Child Protection Units (DCPUs) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 30-31 August, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and the Criminal Amendment Act, 2013; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequence trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; orient them about different support and rehabilitation services available for victims of sexual offence under POCSO Act & Rules 2012; and discuss about difficulties/problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in solving these problems.   • Skill Training on Identification of Problems and Promotion of Cognitive Development in Early Childhood years for ICDS Officials and Civil Society Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 31 August-2 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about growing importance of cognitive development among children in their early childhood; orient them about factors affecting cognitive development with emphasis on heredity, nutrition, health, school and home environment; and develop strategies for promoting cognitive development during early childhood years.   • Sensitization Training on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and VCFS was organised by Headquarters at Rajasthan from 2-3 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient them regarding Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Village Convergence and Facilitation Services Scheme; sensitize and train the functionaries as catalyst for social change and to mobilize the community for its engagement for improving the CSR, Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) and enrolment & retention of girl child in schools; provide information and training for better inter-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence at district/block/grassroots level; and orient the trainers about planning process of advocacy campaign for social and behavior change.   • Sensitization and Perspective Workshop on ICDS to promote Coordinated and Convergent Action was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 5-6 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on the need and importance of ICDS through various perspectives; identify and discuss the challenges in providing comprehensive care and education in early years of life; and enable them to work-out the ways to minimize the challenges through coordination and convergence.   • Orientation Programme on Project Formulation and Financial Management of Programme related to Women was organised by Headquarters from 5-9 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants with policies and programmes for women and children; discuss the various schemes relating to women and girls, including grant-in-aid to NGOs; and impart knowledge about project formulation, financial management methods, sustainability, documentation and MIS etc. Thirty-eight participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 7-8 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights; and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required for protection of victims of sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences.   • Orientation on Implementation of ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005’ for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 7-9 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially on domestic violence; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of domestic violence of women; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and offer suggestions towards strengthening them.   • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Headquarters from 13-15 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of social and behaviour change communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; develop skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Fifteen participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Vertical Learning Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 13-17 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services.   • Orientation Course for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations on Monitoring and Evaluation of Development Programmes for Women and Children was organised by Headquarters from 14-16 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of monitoring and evaluation in social development programmes; apprise the participants to the latest methods/techniques of monitoring and evaluation of the programmes; and enhance the skills of participants for quality monitoring and supervision of women and child development programmes.   • Review-cum-Training Workshop on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was organised by Headquarters at Punjab University, Chandigarh from 16-17 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the progress of the training and sensitization programmes, strategies adopted by districts, district action plans and further future training programmes, required for the scheme; orient the participants about village convergence facilitation services and its implementation; and provide important updates regarding BBBP scheme.   • Skill Training on ECCE for DPOs/CDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 19-21 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the challenges in ECCE in the context of ECCE policy; review the skills needed in implementation of ECCE in the light of restructured ICDS; build the capacity of DPOs/CDPOs to guide the grass root level functionaries on effective implementation of ECCE components; and their role in monitoring. Thirty-four participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Combating Violence against Women and Girls was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 19-23 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop perspective among participants about gender based violence; provide insight on the policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women and girls; build capacities to provide services to survivors of violence including counselling, livelihood and rehabilitation; and evolve strategies for combating violence against women and children. Twenty-eight participants attended the orientation programme.
  • Two Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme were organised by Headquarters at Punjab and Rajasthan from 19-23 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services.   • Sensitization Programme on Child Mental Health for Teachers and Counsellors was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 20-22 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize teachers on mental health issues concerning children in schools; acquaint teachers with learning and behavioural problems of children; and enable the teachers to develop a strategy for providing or seeking timely intervention from specialized agencies. Thirty-seven participants attended the sensitization programme.
  • Workshop on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 for College/ University Teachers was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-23 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants with the trends in domestic violence over the past decade and the measures adopted to combat it; orient the college/ university teachers on the provisions of the “Protection of Women from Domestic Violence ‘ Act, 2005; and enable the college teachers to take a proactive role in bringing about awareness among the students and the general public on the issue. Twenty-seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 24 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parents’ skill to play an active role in helping children to deal effectively with the various problems children face. Fifty-three participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Programme on Mobilization and Management of Community Resources for Representatives of Civil Society Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 26-30 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants about the need to mobilize the community for development programmes; orient participants about community mobilization techniques; and discuss the importance of PLA activities for community involvement in development programmes.   • Training Programme on Planning and Designing a Project Proposal for Executives of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 26-30 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on the need and importance of a project; enhance knowledge base and skills of the participants to the techniques of planning, designing and presenting effective project proposals; develop skills in cost estimation and working out mechanism for monitoring and sustainability for a project; and analyze pitfalls in planning and designing project proposals.   • Orientation Training Program for Protection Officers of DCPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 26-30 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop knowledge base of Protection Officers on the issue of child rights and protection in the Indian context; develop understanding on various issues concerning Juveniles in Conflict with Law and the existing Juvenile justice System; help them to learn the main features of ICPS and its components; explain the specific role of Protection Officer as laid down in JJ Act & rules and to enhance their skills in effective implementation of JJ Act and understand child psychology to deal with children effectively. Twenty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Headquarters from 26-30 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects: provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise CDPOs/ACDPOs about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial. Twenty-four participants attended the refresher course.
  • Orientation Course on Mobilisation and Management of Community Resources for Voluntary Organistions was organised by Headquarters from 26-30 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participants to the techniques for mobilizing and managing community resources; and reduce their dependency on donor agencies by developing necessary skills and awareness to adopt the techniques as a sustainable alternative for programme implementation. Fifteen participants attended the orientation course.
  • Orientation Training on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 for the Members of Internal Complaint Committees of Government Offices of Greater Guwahati was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 27-28 September, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the members of ICC and other govt. officials to the nature and trends of sexual harassment in work place; orient the participants to the salient features and provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the relevant rules; make them aware about the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Act; and appraise the participating members of the committee about their roles and responsibilities.   • Orientation Programme on Counselling Techniques and Support Services for Women in Distress for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 3-7 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants to initiatives undertaken by Government for women empowerment; raise sensitivity to the problems of women in distress; enhance knowledge on existing programmes and support services for women in distress; develop communication, negotiation and counselling skills; explain methods, types, techniques and processes of counseling; and understand and develop strategies for networking among Institutions providing support services to women in distress. Forty-three participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop on Child Rights and Protection for Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 3-7 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the conceptual framework of child rights and protection; share information about the revised Integrated Child Protection Schemes (ICPS); and evolve strategies for effective child protection with support of voluntary organizations. Twenty-five participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Training Programmes of State Level Implementation of the Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum were organised by Headquarters at Regional Centres, Lucknow and Guwahati from 3-7 October and 24-28 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the implementation of Annual Contextualized ECCE Curriculum in the States; share the experiences of challenges faced by the states in implementation of the ECCE Curriculum; refresh the participants about the concept & importance of ECCE; make the participants understand about the philosophy, principles and components of the Nation ECCE Policy, curriculum framework and quality standards; familiarize the participants with the State specific ECE Curriculum and roll out the same in the AWCs; orient participants on the diversity issues and strategies to handle diversity in the classroom and assessment of children at AWC; develop skills of the participants to train on the execution of the daily/weekly lesson plans based on thematic approach and; discuss the possible solutrategies to meet the challenges and effectively roll out the annual contextualized curriculum. In all, forty-six participants attended both the training programmes.
  • Three Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme were organised by Regional Centres, Lucknow and Indore from 3-7 October, 2016, 17-21 October, 2016 and 24-26 October, 2016 respectively. The objectives of these programmes were to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills off all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. One-hundred and seventeen participants attended these training programmes.
  • Regional Meet for Multi-stakeholders on Preventive and Promotive Strategies for Girl Child Survival was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 4-5 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the various existing strategies/models for prevention of Child Girl survival; to discuss the points of convergent actions required for promotion of girl child survival. Eight-five participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Medical Professionals was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 4 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and role and responsibilities of Medical Professionals in implementation of the Act; discuss with them about medical and forensic services in cases of child victims of sexual offences and to protect child rights; and discuss about problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in cases of sexual offences against children. Eighteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO, 2012) was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru at Goa from 6-7 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; orient them about the ways to communicate with children about sexuality; and discuss with them about the ways and means to develop a strong system of initiating action against abusers in case of abuse and Monitor preventive measures in educational institutions. Fifty-five participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Workshop for Chairperson and Members of CWCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 13-14 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitize and orient participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006 vis-à-vis ICPS; orient the participants about different roles and responsibilities being carried out by and functioning of Child Welfare Committees; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; discuss relevance of Non-Institutional Services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation & social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; understand the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act; and deliberate the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. Eighteen participants attended the workshop.
  • Two Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries in ICDS Programme were organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 17-21 October and 31 October-4 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; work and jointly and formulate action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of services. In all, one-hundred and sixteen participants attended these training programmes.
  • Orientation Training Programme for District Child Protection Officers of DCPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 17-21 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: help them understand the child situation in the context of their rights; orient them to the UNCRC and constitutional safeguards for children; enable them to understand the Juvenile Justice System; and orient them to the main features of ICPS and their role and responsibilities in ICPS. Twenty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Program on Survey, Research Techniques and Documentation for Functionaries of Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 19-21 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about defining the research problems and designing survey research; appraise the participants about the conceptual framework of survey research; discuss the different techniques for conducting survey; and elucidate the simple statistical techniques to be used for data analysis and documentation of the report. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Skill Training for Instructors of AWTCs / MLTCs on preparation of Quality Improvement in ICDS Programmed was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 19-20 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: understand the epidemic of Childhood Obesity; make them aware about balanced diet for infants, children and adolescents and know different guidelines related to food safety and consumption. Fourteen participants attended the skill training.
  • Skill Training for ICDS Functionaries on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 19-21 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the ICDS functionaries to the principles of Social and Behaviour Change Communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; provide skills for effective value addition in communication process; enable trainees to develop communication materials for behaviour change; and enrich the participants develop need based model for social and behaviour change communication in their respective work places. Seven participants attended the skill training.
  • Workshop on Implementation of STEP Scheme for Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters from 20-21 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the concept of empowerment of women with emphasis on socio economic development of women with special reference to STEP; share experiences and best practices between the States which will be beneficial for all the stakeholders resulting in enhancement of knowledge, methods and procedures that could be adopted for making STEP Scheme more effective; share issues and challenges faced during the course of implementation of the scheme in States/UTs; and discuss the reasons for delay in processing the proposals and steps required to cut such delays. Twenty-eight participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme on Child Labour for the Officials of SSA and Representatives of NGOs working in Tea Garden Areas was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 20-21 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the officials of SSA and representatives of NGOs to the problem of child labour; make the participants aware about existing Policies and legislative measures and programmes pertaining to protection of interest of working children; and enable them to identify the high risk children and link them with the appropriate mechanisms for prevention of child labour. Thirty-one participants attended the programme.
  • Training Programme on Human Resource Management & Monitoring for ICDS Functionaries was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 24-26 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: appraise the participants about current trends in ICDS with regard to Human Resource Management; sensitize the participants about sustenance of motivation among the ICDS functionaries; orient about new techniques of effective interpersonal communication for better performance; and discuss the various techniques of monitoring and supervision from Anganwadi Centre to project level. Fifteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Programme on Counselling Skills for Institutions Providing Care to Distressed Women was organised by Headquarters from 24-26 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about magnitude, causes, nature and manifestation on violence against women in India and develop understanding about the trauma faced by distressed women; provide insight on the polices, existing support services including networking among NGOs and legal safeguards for women in distress; and enhance communication and counselling skills for providing psychosocial support to distressed women. Thirty-one participants attended the training programme.

  • Orientation training on Legislations for Protecting Interest of Women for Representatives of NGOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 24-26 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the NGO personnel to the concept, trend, causes and consequences of gender based violence; make them understand about various legislations and welfare measures for protection of women; and enable them to initiate action for protection of women from different kinds of violence. Twenty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Training Programme for Functionaries of District Jail dealing with Women Prisoners having Children was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-27 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on different rights and needs of children; to orient them the importance of counselling to women prisoners; acquaint them with the concepts and techniques of counselling and make them aware of case intervention techniques. Ten participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO Act, 2012) was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 27-28 October, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the gender based violence and rights of children; apprise the participants of the salient features of the ‘Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012’ and its Rules; and orient them to the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders in implementing the Act.   • Master Trainer Workshop on Documentation in ICPS for ICPS Functionaries was organised by Headquarters from 2-4 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants about documentation in the functioning of various ICPS structures; discuss with them about different forms of documentation that are required in ICPS; and familiarize them with various documentation techniques that are required to maintain various forms of documentation.   • Skill Training on Community Mobilisation, Advocacy, Awareness and IEC Campaign on the issues relating to Child Development was organised by Headquarters from 7-11 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept and importance of community mobilization, participation; advocacy, awareness and IEC campaign; improve skills of the participants in methods and techniques of motivating and mobilizing community for awareness generation & IEC campaign; and enable the participants to elicit community participation, awareness and campaign for implementing ICDS programme effectively. Twenty-three participants attended the skill training programme.

  • Two Job Training Courses for CDPOs/ ACDPOs are being organised by Regional Centre, Indore and Headquarters from 7 November – 7 December, 2016 and 28 November– 28 December, 2016 respectively with the main objectives to : orient the trainee CDPOs/ ACDPOs about ICDS programme – its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries with respect to restructured and strengthened ICDS and New Who Child Growth Standards, MCP card, schemes of SABLA & IGMSY; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. In all, thirty-eight participants are attending both the courses.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for School Principals and Teachers was organised by Headquarters from 8-9 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants about the sexual offences committed against children and provision under POCSO Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act to protect child rights; and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required for protection of victims and sexual violence and child witness of sexual offences. Twenty-one participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation on Implementation of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 for Functionaries of Government and Voluntary was organised by Regional Centre Bengaluru from 9-11 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the participants on locus and manifestation of gender violence; discuss policies and legislative measures to curb atrocities against women specially on domestic violence; analyze the problem and work out strategies for addressing the problem of domestic violence of women; and discuss existing mechanisms/ support services and offer suggestions towards strengthening them. Twenty- participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme for Police Officials, ICDS Functionaries and NGOs on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was organised by Regional Centre Indore from 9-11 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: create awareness about the provisions of PWDV Act, 2005; and the roles and responsibilities of Police Officials and other stakeholders. Thirty-nine participants attended the training programme.
  • Regional Meet on Use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in ICDS was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 10-11 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: identify the innovative models /practices concerning use of ICT in ICDS and bring together the State Governments/UT administrations and other development partners for discussing and deliberating upon appropriate solutions for strengthening the use of ICT in ICDS. Seventeen participants attended the regional meet.
  • Consultative Meet on Social Audit and Monitoring in Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 10-11 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the need and importance of Social Audit and Monitoring under ICPS; familiarize participants with different tools for Social Audit; enable the participants to design social audit; and discuss monitoring formats under ICPS. Forty-eight participants attended the consultative meet.
  • Parent Workshop on Home Stimulation for Holistic Development of Children at the Child Care Centre was organised by Headquarters on 11 November, 2016 with the objective to equip parents with skills for Home Stimulation for Holistic Development of Children. Thirty participants attended the workshop.
  • Awareness Generation Camp on Child Rights and Protection for School Children was organised by Regional Centre Indore on 15 November, 2016 with the objectives to: discuss the problems and challenges faced by children to derive specific issues of child rights and protection to be focused; and aware the children on provisions of CRC and national initiatives for child rights and child protection including various legal instruments and services for child protection. Fifty participants attend the awareness camp.

  • Awareness Camp on POCSO Act, 2012 for NGOs was organised by Headquarters on 16 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants of the salient features of the “Protection of Children from Sexual Offences” (POCSO) Act and its Rules, 2012; orient them about the role and responsibilities of various stakeholders in implementing the Act; and create awareness among the masses about the POCSO Act, through NGOs. Twenty participants attended the awareness camp.
  • Skill Training on Guidance and Counselling for Teachers of Government Schools of Greater Guwahati, Assam was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 16-18 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: make the teachers understand the concept of Guidance and Counselling and its importance; make the participants aware regarding the ethics in counseling and in providing necessary relief to the children whenever required; enable them to understand various approaches and techniques of counseling and use them in their school situation; and orient and give wider exposure to the teachers about principles, elements and stages of guidance and counseling. Thirty-two participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Parental Workshop on various Academic and Psychosocial Issues of Children was organised by Regional Centre Indore on 19 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize parents about various psychosocial issues children face; make parents familiar with the nature of various problems in children; and develop parent’s skill to play an active role in helping children to deal effectively with the various problems children face. One hundred and thirty seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Master Trainers Training Programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Village Convergence Facilitation Services was organised by Headquarters at Pune from 21-22 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: provide guidance and awareness about the BBBP scheme; train the functionaries as catalysts for social change and to mobilize the community for its engagement for improving the CSR, Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) and enrolment & retention of girl child in schools; provide information for better inter-sectoral and inter-institutional convergence at district/block/grass-root levels & plan advocacy campaigns for social and behaviour change; and provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills regarding Village Convergence & Facilitation Service (VCFS) and communitisation of ICDS for accessing quality ICDS Services. One hundred and nine participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Training on One Stop Centre Scheme for the Stakeholders was organised by Headquarters from 21-22 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on issues related to VAW and Constitutional and legal provisions thereof; provide information on implementation of the OSC scheme; enhance their knowledge and skills in providing medico-legal and psychosocial support to aggrieved women and redressal of their problems under one roof; and provide a tool for capacity building of all stakeholders to perform tasks together through convergence at various levels.   • Parental Workshop on Vulnerability of Adolescence of Today and Role of Parents was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 22 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding about the needs of adolescents and holistic development among the parents; and help parents to help adolescents to cope up with the physical, emotional and mental changes during this period for optimum development. Ninty-seven participants attended the workshop.
  • Sensitization Programme for Prevention of Witch Hunting for NGOs of Eastern Region was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 22-23 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the NGO personnel to the problem of witch hunting, its causes and different facets; familiarize them to the consequences of witch hunting; and acquaint the participants with the existing legal provision and the roles to be played by NGOs for prevention of witch hunting. Eighteen participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Food Habits, Changing Lifestyle and Nutritional needs of Adolescents was organised by Regional Centre Indore from 22-23 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants about food habits and nutritional needs of the adolescents ;impart knowledge on the indicators of adequate nutrition of adolescents; educate the participants on the specific interventions to be adopted to counter unhealthy food habits among adolescents; and promote focus on healthy food habits and life style among adolescents. Forty- three participants attended the programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Child Mental Health for Teachers and Counsellors was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 22-24 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize teachers on mental health issues concerning children in schools; acquaint teachers with learning and behavioural problems of children; and enable the teachers to develop a strategy for providing or seeking timely intervention from specialized agencies. Thirty-four participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Grant Management System for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations Receiving Grant from MWCD was organied by Headquarters from 23-25 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the existing pattern, process and procedure of Grant-in-aid under different schemes for women and children; identify the complexities and challenges of disbursal/receipt of Grant-in-Aid experienced by VOs and the Government Agencies; discuss the means for transparency and accountability at various levels; and suggest remedial measures for evolving an efficient Grant Management System to achieve improved GO-NGO Cooperation and better services to the community. Nine participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre Bengaluru from 28 -30 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and program etc. Twelve participants attended the programme.
  • Orientation Training on Child Protection for functionaries of Open Shelters under ICPS was organised by Headquarters at Indore from 28-30 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; orient the participants about the laws concerning children & revised Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS); and to develop an Action Plan for effective child care and protection in the district. Thirty-three Participants attended the programme.
  • Workshop on POCSO Act, 2012 for Functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions was organised by Headquarters from 29-30 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: to apprise the members of Panchayati Raj Institutions about sexual offences against children and salient features of the ‘Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012; develop an understanding of their role in protecting children against child sexual abuse and supporting child victims and their families; and evolve strategies for elimination of sexual offences at the community level with support of PRIs. Seventeen participants attended the workshop.
  • Training on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act & Rules, 2012 for Superintendents, Counsellors, Social Workers and Special Educators of CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 29-30 November, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge of the participants about salient features of POCSO Act, 2012 and the Criminal Amendment Act, 2013; sensitize the participants about the sexual offences being committed against children and consequence trauma faced by them; develop an understanding of their role in implementation of the Act; enable them to understand and contextualize the rights of children; orient them about different support and rehabilitation services available for victims of sexual offence under POCSO Act & Rules 2012; and discuss about difficulties/problems encountered in the implementation of the Act and skills required in solving these problems. Twenty-nine participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Program on Empowerment of Women through Micro-Finance for functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organizations was organised by Regional Centre Bengaluru from 28 November- 1 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants with the policy and program of women; Sensitize the participants on gender issues and how to incorporate them in social empowerment process; Discuss the address the women needs towards health, reproductive rights, nutrition, education; and Share the experiences of voluntary organizations in social empowerment of women. Fifty-six participants attended the programme.

  • Regional Meet of Stakeholders on Child Care and Protection was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 1-2 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: review the various care and protection issues affecting the children; deliberate on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to children and discuss the role of stake holders in child care and protection issues. Forty-three participants attended the meet.
  • Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work Place for Members of Sexual Harassment Committees was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 1-2 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize participants regarding different provisions of Act; build perspective on women friendly work environment; and appraise the modalities, mechanisms and procedure of redressal under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act. Twenty-one participants attended the training programme.
  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries in ICDS Programme was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru at Goa from 5-9 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a Master Trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Forty participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Combating Violence Against Women and Girls was organised by Headquarters from 5-9 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective among participants about gender based violence; provide insight on the policies, existing support services and legal safeguards for women and girls to curb the problem; build capacities to provide services to survivors of violence including counselling, livelihood and rehabilitation; and evolve strategies for combating violence against women and children. Thirty-five participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents/ Social Workers/ Probation Officers of CCIs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 5-9 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the issue of child rights and protection in Indian context; enable the participants to develop understanding on various issues concerning children in need of care and protection and in conflict with law, the existing juvenile justice system and the prevailing laws concerning children; and orient them on ICPS, its components and the role of various stakeholders under the JJ system and ICPS and their inter-linkages. Twenty-five participants attended the training programme.

  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 5 December-4 January, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the trainee CDPOs/ ACDPOs about ICDS programme – its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation; and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. Thirty-eight participants attended the job training course.
  • Skill Training on Life Skill Education for Adolescent Girls for District Level Officials of ICDS and NHM was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 6-8 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: sensitize the officials on the growing problems and challenges of adolescent girls; orient them about the developments, characteristics/features of Adolescent Girls and their management; and enhance the skills of the officials in life skill education for holistic development. Thirty-four participants attended the skill training programme.
  • Sensitization Programme on Family based Interventions for Children with Disabilities and Developmental Disorders was organised by Headquarters from 5-9 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to understand the challenges of family with children having developmental disorders; orient the participants to effective assessment and counselling procedures to enable families to gain constructive perspective about the child and the disorder; critically apprise them with the strategies to empower families to identify and nurture strengths of the child; and orient the families to the supportive interventions that strengthens resilience of the family unit through family support activities. Twenty participants attended the training programme.
  • Sensitization workshop on Japanese Encephalitis/ Acute Encephalitis Syndrome for Master Trainers of ICDS was organized by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 7-9 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: discuss the major causes, signs and symptoms, prevention & management of JE/AES; prepare action plans and micro planning procedures for combating JE/AES at various levels; orient them about the Sneha Shivir and nutrition counseling child care sessions; and discuss roles and responsibilities of various ICDS functionaries in prevention of JE/AES through Sneha Shivir and other supportive activities. Forty-four participants attended the workshop.
  • Orientation Training for the Superintendents, Welfare Officers of CCIs and Counsellors of Open Shelters was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 12-16 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including various legislations, policies and programmes etc. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.
  • Ensuring Food Safety and Food Safety Standards in Supplementary Nutrition in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 14-16 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of safe food handling practices highlighting its importance in health and nutrition wellbeing; orient the participants to the food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; get an insight into food adulteration and the laws regulating the food safety; and discuss the role of ICDS functionaries in ensuring food safety at AWCs. Twelve participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Program on Health and Nutrition Care of Children for Superintendents and Protection Officers of DCPUs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 14-16 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: apprise the participants on the issues related to nutrition and psychological health; and make them aware on personal hygiene and sanitation and equip them on life skill education and personality development. Forty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme for District level Officers of ICDS on Child Care and Protection was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 14-16 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on constitutional/legal provision and issues relating to the development, care and protection of children; orient the participants on various policy and programme initiatives of Government relating to children and discuss their role in accelerating the development process with regard to children. Seventeen participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Course for Statistical Assistants on Management Information System in ICDS was organised by Headquarters from14-16 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on the revised MIS in ICDS; to acquaint them of their role in the monitoring of achievements and goals; and equip them with skills in data management and analysis. Twenty-four participants attended the course.
  • Awareness Campaign on Consumption of Foods High in Fat, Salt & Sugar (HFSS) for Young and Adolescents was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow on 16 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: understand the epidemic of Childhood Obesity, aware about Balanced Diet for Infants, Children and Adolescents; and know different guidelines related to food safety and consumption. Sixty-six participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Training Programme for Superintendents of Child Care Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 19-21 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the conceptual framework of child rights and Protection; and enable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions and create an understanding of the good child protection practices including various legislations, policies and program etc. Eleven participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women was organised by Headquarters from 19-23 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop clear perspective about basic gender concepts and gender equality; enhance the understanding of the participants on women’s empowerment including social, economic, political, legal empowerment etc.; apprise them about the policies and programmes of Government for women empowerment; and provide knowledge and skills on mainstreaming gender in development programmes to enlarge the scope of women empowerment and gender equality. Twenty-seven participants attended the training programme.
  • Regional Meet on Best Practices Concerning Child Rights and Child Protection was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 20-21 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient on Juvenile Justice system in India; reviewing legislations and discuss threats in child rights and child protection; orientation of best practices concerning to child rights and child protection; and discuss on replication of best practices. Forty-three participants attended the meet.
  • Vertical Training Programme for ICDS Functionaries on Growth Monitoring and Mother & Child Protection Card was organised by Headquarters from 20-22 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the concept of new WHO Growth Charts and use of MCP Card; and orient the participants on health and nutrition issues linked to MCP Card, its usage and implementation. One hundred & fifty three participants attended the training programme.
  • Workshop on Critical Issues in Dealing with Children in Need of Care and Protection for Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) was organised by Headquarters from 21-22 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: share the present status of child protection and ICPS in the States; analyse the relevance and utilization of knowledge gained in previous programmes in their work situations; share experiences and challenges faced by them; and come out with effective strategies for implementation of JJ Act/ ICPS. Twelve participants attended the workshop.
  • Training on Decentralized Planning and Management of ICDS Project for District/State Level Official was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 21-23 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient about identification of specific needs at the state, district and block level; to equip participants in need based decentralize planning; and to enhance managerial skills and develop leadership qualities. Twelve participants attended the training programme.
  • Orientation Programme on Research Methodology and Statistical Analysis in Social Sciences was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 21-23 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: orient participants on latest trends in use of research methodology and statistical analysis in social sciences; enhance their knowledge and skill on different components of research methodology; and sharpen their understanding on appropriate use of statistical tools and techniques.Thirteen participants attended the training programme.

  • Training Programme on Swachh Evam Swasth Bachpan was organised by Headquarters from 29-30 December, 2016 with the main objectives to: develop insight of participants regarding assessment of nutritional status of children along with practical session on growth monitoring weighing and plotting of children To orient the participants to the food safety measures for SNP of ICDS; apprise the participants regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Bal Swachhta Mission; highlight the importance of IYCF for the survival, growth and development of children; and equip the trainees with the skills to organise mother’s meeting for educating about healthy child care practices. Sixteen participants attended the training programme.
