Important Activities for the month of January-November, 2011

 

 

January 2011

  • Two Regional Consultatios on Revision of the National Policy for Children, 1974 were organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow on 06 January, 2011 and 07 January, 2011 respectively with the objectives to: review, collate and compile inputs received from stakeholders on revising the National Policy for Children; and identify the priority areas and finalised inputs of policy. In all ninety-seven participants attended the consultation.

  • Three  Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 03-07 January, 2011, Regional Centre, Indore from 17-21 January, 2011 and Regional Centre, Guwahati from 18-22 January, 2011  with the objectives to: enhance skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as master trainers for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of ICDS functionaries to  enhance the quality  of ICDS services; and formulate joint action plan for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services.  In all one hundred seventeen participants attended these programmes.

  • Two Orientation Programme on Issues Relating to Child Rights and Protection for School Principals were organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 05 January, 2011 and Regional Centre, Bangaluru from 20-21 January, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of child rights and protection; create awareness on policies, programmes and various legislations for children; and enable them to understand the existing service delivery mechanisms. In all eighty-six participants attended these programmes.

  • Regional Level Sensitisation Programme on Improving Sex Ratio was organised by Headquarters from 10–11 January, 2011 with the objectives to: analyse the causes of low sex ratio in the region; discuss the steps taken by Governments and NGOs to improve sex ratio; and evolve region specific strategies to Improve Sex Ratio. Fourteen participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Programme on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) for Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters from 10– 14 January, 2011 with the objectives to: develop better understanding of various aspects of child development, particularly in the context of children between 0-6 years; sensitise them to develop and understand the concept of Early Childhood Care & Development and develop appropriate programmes; and facilitate them to develop viable strategies to make qualitative assessment of Early Childhood Development programmes. Ten participants attended the programme.

  • Two Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs /MLTCs on IMNCI & Use of MCP Card were organised by  Regional Centre, Indore and Regional Centre, Lucknow from 10-14 January, 2011 & 17-21 January, 2011 respectively with the objectives to: enhance understanding of participants on factors determining growth and development; orient them about the new WHO child growth standards and MCP Card; and impart skills in assessment,  interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child. In all thirty-three participants attended the training programme.

  • Orientation Course on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children for Police Personnel was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 11–13 January, 2011 with the objectives to: create awareness about the magnitude of the problems of trafficking; discuss concept, trends and dimensions of trafficking in India; familiarise them with the rescue operations, post rescue care and rehabilitation process; communication and counselling strategies for survivors and critically analyse and evolve the role of Non-Government Organisations in prevention of trafficking. Sixty-five participants attended the Programme.

  • Four Training Programms for the Block Level ICDS Functionaries of Delhi on the issues related to Women and Child Development were organised by Headquarters from 17-18 January, 2011, 18-19 January, 2011, 19-20 January, 2011 and 20-21 January, 2011 with the objectives to: develop better understanding on various issues of Women and child development; strengthen interpersonal communication skills of the field functionaries; and enhance their skills to act as a master trainers for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level. In all two hundred and twenty-five participants attended the training programmes.

  • Sensitisation Programme on Advocacy Skills for Food Safety and Hygiene for Government Officials and Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Bangaluru from 17–19 January, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants about the importance of food safety and hygiene; apprise them about latest development in food standards and food laws; discuss the ways of strengthening food safety and hygiene in public nutrition programmes; impart knowledge about the importance of advocacy and its role in behavioural change communication; and develop positive attitude facilitating food safety and hygiene in various nutrition programmes. Thirty- three participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Course on Reproductive and Child Health, Family Life Education and HIV/AIDS was organised by Headquarters from 17-21 January, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants to the fundamental concepts of essential and emergency obstetric care, new born care etc.; and build their capacity with the necessary techniques and skills related to family life education, reproductive and child health and HIV/AIDS. Twenty-three participants attended the course.

  • Two Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs /MLTCs on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) was organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Indore from 17 -21 January, 2011 concurrently with the objectives to: sensitise the participants about the optimal infant and young child feeding practices; create awareness about the policies, programmes and plans for health and nutrition of women and children; highlight fundamental factors affecting feeding practices for infants and young children; enhance counseling skills on infants and young child feeding practices; and evolve strategies to protect, promote and support optimal infant and young child feeding practices. In all Twenty-four participants attended the training.

  • Refresher Course for CDPOs /ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 17-21 January, 2011 with the objectives to: assess training needs of CDPOs / ACDPOs; provide a forum for sharing experiences; apprise them on the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development; and sharpen their skills in communication, counseling and the management. Twenty-three participants attended the course.

  • Training on Good Governance in Voluntary Organisation was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 17-21 January, 2011 with the objectives to: develop professional skills among the participants for making programmes sustainable at the field level; make them understand the essential features of appropriate/good governance; apprise them of techniques of good governance; and enhance their capabilities to govern their organisation better. Twenty-five participants attended the programme.

  • Training on Adolescent Health for Tea Garden Management and NGOs working in Tea Garden Areas was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 18-20 January, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants about physical and psychological changes and challenges of adolescents; apprise the participants to reproductive health issues and nutritional needs of adolescents; and sensitise the participants about their role in healthy development of adolescents in tea garden areas. Twenty-eight participants attended the training.

  • Workshop on Promoting In-country Adoption was organised by Headquarters in collaboration with CARA at Regional Centre, Guwahati on 20 January, 2011 with the objectives to discuss about the significance of adoption and non-institutional care; apprise them about procedures involved in in-country adoption vis-a-vis Juvenile Justice and ICPS; discuss strategies for promoting in-country adoption and also problems of Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs); and obtain feedback about regional needs and requirement concerning adoption. Forty-nine participants attended the workshop.

  • One National and Four Regional Consultations on Evolving an Efficient Grant Management System towards Improving GO-NGO Cooperation in WCD Schemes are being organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Bangaluru, Regional Centre, Guwahati, Regional Centre, Lucknow and Regional Centre, Indore from 27-28 January, 2011 with the objectives to:  review the existing pattern, process and procedure of grant-in-aid under different schemes; identify the complexities and challenges of disbursal of grant-in-aid experienced by VOs and the Government agencies; bring about transparency and accountability at various levels; and suggest remedial measures for evolving an efficient Grant Management System to achieve improved GO-NGO cooperation for providing better services to the community. In all Two hundred and Fifty one participants are attending these Consultations.

  • Orientation Programme on Laws Relating to Women was organised by Headquarters from 01–03 February, 2011 with the objectives to: build the capacity of participants in effectively handling cases of women in distress; strengthen support system of women in need of legal aid; and update the knowledge on recent laws and procedures to expedite relief to women in difficult circumstances. Thirty-seven participants attended the programme.

  • Sensitisation Programme on J.J. System and ICPS for Personnel of Legal Aid Services Authority was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 01–03 February, 2011 with the objectives to:  sensitise the members of District Legal Service Authority to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006 vis-à-vis ICPS; enable them to understand the problems of children in conflict with law and importance of rehabilitation; and create clarity and understanding of the role and responsibilities of the members in  ensuring free legal aid services to the children under the said Act. Twenty-four participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Training of State/ District Programme Officer and Deputy Directors dealing with ICDS was organised by Headquarters from 02–04 February, 2011 with the objectives to: with the objectives to: familiarise the participants about recent developments in ICDS programme and training of ICDS functionaries; apprise them about various innovations and new  initiatives in ICDS programme; discuss about the implementation of guidelines and instructions issued by Government of India for implementation of ICDS; and prepare an action plan on strengthening quality of ICDS programme. Nineteen participants attended the training.

  • Consultation on ICPS for Senior Government Officials/ Nodal Officers was organised by Headquarters on 03 February, 2011 with the objectives to: review the status of implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2006 and its Rules 2007 and; orient the participants on the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS). Twenty-six participants attended the programme.

  • State Level Workshop on Prevention of Domestic Violence Act 2005 for Law Enforcement Agencies, Protection Officers and Service Providers was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 03-04 February, 2011 with the objectives to: assess procedural problems of registering a complaint and filling-up of Direct Incidence Report; problems and issues faced by Protection Officers while implementing the law; strategy to promote coordination between the Law Enforcement Agency and Protection Officers; and formulate strategies for streamlining the cases on domestic violence. Seventy-six participants attended the workshop.

  • Two Regional Workshops on SABLA were organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 04–05 February, 2011 and Regional Centre, Guwahati from 23–24 February, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants about the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls SABLA of MWCD, GOI; and apprise them of their role and responsibilities in creating awareness among the ICDS functionaries. In all seventy-nine participants attended the Workshops.

  • Workshop for the Parents on Learning and Behavioural Problems of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow on 05 February, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants to the causal links of behaviour problems in children and the need for assessment; sensitise them broad strategies of intervention; and discuss their role in helping their child with behaviour problems. Thirty-one parents attended the workshop.

  • Sensitisation Workshop for Media Personnel on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 07-08 February, 2011 with the objectives to: enable the participants to understand the magnitude of the problem; sensitize them to legal framework and law enforcement; discuss on sexual violence and trafficking of women and children; and discuss the role of media in creating awareness. Thirty-eight participants attended the Workshop.  

  • Two Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/ MLTCs on IYCF were organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati and  Regional Centre, Indore from 14-18 February, 2011 with the objectives to: sensitise the participants about the optimal infant and young child feeding practices; create awareness about the policies, programmes and plans for health and nutrition of women and children; highlight fundamental factors affecting feeding practices for infants and young children; enhance counselling skills on infants and young child feeding practices; and evolve strategies to protect, promote and support optimal infant and young child feeding practices. In all fifty-four participants attended the training.

  • Sensitisation Programme on issues relating to Women and Children for members of Panchayati Raj Institutions was organised by Regional Centre, Bangalore from 8-10 February, 2011 with the objectives to: discuss the situation of women and children; share the constitutional provisions/acts and its implementation for protection, empowerment and development of women and children; and identify and emphasize the role of PRIs in protection, empowerment and development of women and children. Thirty-seven participants attended the programme.

  • Training on Mobilisation and Management of Community Resources for Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 08-11 February, 2011 with the objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participants on the techniques for mobilising and managing community resources; reduce their dependency on donor agencies by developing necessary skills and awareness to adopt the techniques as a sustainable alternative for programme implementation; enable them to manage their financial matters and funds; and provide information on legal framework for voluntary organisations. Thirty-nine participants attended the training.

  • Training of Instructors of AWTCs / MLTCs on New WHO Child Growth Standards in ICDS and Use of MCP Card was organised by Headquarters from 09 -11 February, 2011 with the objectives to: enhance understanding of participants on factors determining growth and development (nutrition environment and health care); orient them about the new WHO child growth standards and MCP Card; and impart skills in assessment,  interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child. Nine participants attended the programme.

  • Training of Trainers of SHGs on Entrepreneurship Development was organised by Regional Centre, Bangaluru from 09-11 February, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the trainers to the importance and principles of micro enterprise; provide a perspectives on credit, marketing and other support services for microenterprises; and enable the trainers to develop a business plan for starting and management of microenterprise. Twenty-one participants attended the training.

  • Regional Consultation of the Members of the Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 10-11 February, 2011 with the objectives to: review the status of Juvenile Justice Amendment Act 2006 by States/UTs; discuss roles and responsibilities of the members of CWC; highlight  importance of non-institutional services under the Act; identify the obstacles/difficulties carrying out their (CWC) roles and responsibilities; and develop the State Specific Action Plan for implementation. Thirty-nine participants are attending the programme.

  • Skill Training for Trainers of NIPCCD & AWTCs/MLTCs on IMNCI, SABLA & CMB was organised by Headquarters from 12-15 February, 2011 with the objectives to:build the capacity of trainers on IMNCI; familiarise the trainers about the technique of assessment, classification and treatment of common childhood diseases; and strengthen communication and counselling skills of trainers. Nineteen participants attended the training.

  • Two Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme were organised by Headquarters from 14-18 February, 2011 and Regional Centre, Lucknow from 22-26 February, 2011  with the objectives to: enhance skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as master trainers for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of ICDS functionaries to  enhance the quality  of ICDS services; and formulate joint action plan for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. In all eighty-one participants attended these programmes.

  • Orientation Course on Micronutrients for Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Headquarters from 15-19 February, 2011 with the objectives to: sensitise the participants about the magnitude of the problem of micronutrient malnutrition; create awareness about the policies and programmes for the control of micronutrient deficiencies; highlight causes and consequences of micronutrient malnutrition; and evolve strategies for prevention and management of micronutrient malnutrition. Twenty-one participants attended the course.

  • Regional Level Workshop on Gender Budgeting for NGOs and Academics was organised by NIPCCD, Headquarters at Regional Centre, Guwahati from 16-18 February, 2011. main objectives of the workshop was to: sensitise the participants on the concept and the need for gender-based approach for budgeting; appraise them of its positive contributions to the economic and social development of country; orient them on the tolls of gender budgeting; and enable the participants to dovetail gender budget concept in projects and programmes to be undertaken by them and disseminate information widely. Thirty-two participants attended the Workshop.

  • Southern Regional Consultation Meet on Care and Development of Adolescent Girls was organised by Regional Centre, Bangalore from 17-18 February, 2011 with the objectives to: discuss recent developments and best practices in care and development of adolescent girls; and review innovative practices in empowering adolescent girls. Fifty-two participants attended the programme.

  • Workshop on Promoting In-country Adoption was organised by Headquarters in collaboration with CARA at Indore on 18 February, 2011 with the objectives to discuss about the significance of adoption and non-institutional care; apprise them about procedures involved in in-country adoption vis-a-vis Juvenile Justice and ICPS; discuss strategies for promoting in-country adoption and also problems of Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs); and obtain feedback about regional needs and requirement concerning adoption. Eighteen participants attended the workshop.

  • Training on the Scheme of Ujjawala for Grant Receiving NGOs was organised by Headquarters at Pune from 21-25 February, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants about the concept of UJJAWALA Scheme; orient them towards prevention, rescue, rehabilitation and re-integration of victims of trafficking; enhance their skills in project preparation; and discuss the monitoring and networking systems within the framework of national and State-level machinery. Sixteen participants are attending the training.

  • Orientation Training on Counselling Interventions for Children Affected by Trauma, Abuse and Neglect is being organised by Headquarters from 21 February – 4 March, 2011 with the objectives to: sensitise them to the need for counselling children at-risk; facilitate them to develop positive attitude for counselling children; and orient them to various approaches to counselling children. Twenty-two participants are attending the training.

  • Review Workshop on Status of Implementation of New WHO Child Growth Standard in North Eastern States was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 22-23 February, 2011 with the objectives to: review the implementation of WHO Child Growth Standard in the states of Eastern Region in terms of training, supply of materials, convergence, interventions; find out state- specific relevant problems; and develop strategies to overcome the constraints for better implementation. Thirty-six participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Course on Counselling for Counsellors of Family Counselling Centres and Family Courts was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 22-24 February, 2011. The main objectives of the course were to sensitise the participants about women empowerment and gender issues, create awareness about identification of problems of women and diagnosing/understanding their problems;  familiarise them about existing programmes  and support services for women in distress, develop communication negotiation and counselling skills; orient them to counselling methods, types, techniques and process involved therein, and promote networking among NGOs and institutions providing support services to women in distress. Fifteen participants attended the training.

  • Workshop for School Teachers on Identification and Management of Behaviour Problems in children was organised by Regional Centre, Bangaluru on 23 February, 2011 with the objectives to: create awareness on the needs of children; and provide insights about the psychological problems which may hamper the learning and behaviour in early childhood. Twenty participants attended the workshop.

  • Regional Consultation of the Members of the Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 24-25 February, 2011 with the objectives to: review of the status of implementation of Juvenile Justice Amendment Act 2006 by States/UTs; discuss the roles and  responsibilities of the members of CWC; highlight the importance of non-Institutional services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation and social reintegration of children; identify the obstacles/difficulties in carrying out their (CWC) roles and responsibilities; and develop the State Specific Action Plan for implementation. Eighteen participants are attending the Consultation.

  • Sensitisation Programme on Empowering Adolescents towards delaying Marriage was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Bangaluru from 02-04 March, 2011 with the objectives to: create awareness on consequences of child marriage on overall development of adolescent girls; discuss and analyse the existing constitutional and legal measures against child marriage and their implementation; and analyse the situation and provide suggestive strategies to delay marriage of adolescent girls. Twenty participants attended the programme.

  • Two Sensitisation Programmes on ICPS for Deputy Chief Probation Officers, District Probation Officers and Senior Officers of Mahila Kalyan Nideshalaya of Uttar Pradesh Government were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 03-04 March, 2011and 10-11 March, 2011 with the objectives to: sensitise the participants about the main features of Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) and their role and responsibilities in ICPS. In all forty-seven participants attended the programme.

  • Sensitisation Programme for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Prevention of Micronutrient Malnutrition was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 07-09 March, 2011 with the objectives to: sensitise the participants towards the problem of micronutrient deficiency disorders; enrich their knowledge on different aspects of micronutrient deficiency disorders; and develop lesson plan for training of AWWs on prevention and management of micronutrient malnutrition. Twenty-seven participants attended the programme.

  • Training on Establishing and Managing a Voluntary Organisation was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 07-11 March, 2011 with the objectives to: share the concept and relevance of voluntary action and social development in India; orient the participants about how to establish a voluntary organisation, process of Institution building, administration and management; help them learn planning and designing project proposals; orient them about ways and means of resource mobilization from various sources and effective financial management; and discuss issues related to good governance, accountability and transparency in voluntary organisations. Thirty participants attended the training.

  • Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IYCF was organised by Lucknow from 07-11 March, 2011 with the objectives to: sensitise the participants about the optimal infant and young child feeding practices; create awareness about the policies, programmes and plans for health and nutrition of women and children; highlight fundamental factors affecting feeding practices for infants and young children; enhance their counselling skills on infants and young child feeding practices; and evolve strategies to protect, promote and support optimal infant and young child feeding practices. Nineteen participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Training for Instructors of AWTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 07-15 March, 2011 with the objectives to: apprise the newly appointed Instructors of AWTCs about the ICDS Programme and its services and issues related to early childhood care and development including child health, nutrition and education; familiarize them with the training syllabi of Anganwadi workers; and build up their training and communication skills. Sixteen participants attended the training.

  • Workshop for the parents on identification and management of behavior problems of Children was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru on 12 March, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants to the causal links of behaviour problems in children and the need for assessment; sensitise them broad strategies of intervention; and discuss their role in helping their child with behaviour problems. Sixteen parents attended the workshop.

  • Sensitisation Programme on Right to Information Act 2005 for Senior Officers of VOs and Public Information Officers was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 14-15 March, 2011 with the objectives to: enable participants to understand various aspects of the RTI Act; acquaint them with the procedure and process of seeking information from public offices; and enable them to disseminate information on RTI to the larger community. Thirty-eight participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Training on Child Rights and Protection for Superintendents of Children’s Homes/Asstt. Directors/Probation Officers/Welfare Officers/VOs was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 14-16 March, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the participants about the conceptual framework of Child Rights and Protection; unable them to understand service delivery mechanisms and legal provisions; and create an understanding of the Good Child Protection Practices including  various legislations, policies and programmes etc. Twenty-nine participants attended the training.

  • Refresher Training for Instructors of MLTCs was organised by Headquarters from 14-18 March, 2011 with the objectives to: apprise the participants about recent developments and trends in ICDS; build up their communication, supervisory and training skills; and update their knowledge in adopting systematic approach to training. Eleven participants attended the training.

  • Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IMNCI & Use of MCP Card was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 14-18 March, 2011 with the objectives to: enhance understanding of participants on factors determining growth and development; orient them about the new WHO child growth standards and MCP Card; and impart skills in assessment, interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child.   • Sensitisation Workshop on New WHO Child Growth Standards in ICDS and Use of MCP Card was organised by Headquarters on 17 March, 2011 at Rohtak, Haryana. The main objectives of the Workshop were to: sensitise the participants about the implementation of New WHO Child Growth Standards and Use of MCP Card. One Hundred sixty– nine participants attended the Workshop.

  • Orientation Training on Gender Planning and Mainstreaming was organised by Headquarters from 21-25 March, 2011 with the objectives to: enable the participants to develop clear perspectives about gender analysis and understand link between gender and development; acquire necessary knowledge and skills of gender planning; and workout strategies for gender mainstreaming. Sixteen participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Course on Prevention of Micronutrient Malnutrition was organised from 04-08 April, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: orient the participants to the extent, type and prevalence of micronutrient malnutrition; analyse causes of micronutrient malnutrition; highlight long term effects of micronutrient malnutrition; and evolve strategies in controlling and preventing micronutrient malnutrition. Twenty participants attended the programme.
  • Three Job Training Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs are being organised by Regional Centre, Bangalore, Guwahati and Lucknow from 05 April - 06 May, 2011, 20 April-20 May, 2011 and 25 April-25 May, 2011 respectively. The main objectives of these courses are to: orient the CDPOs/ACDPOs about ICDS programme–its philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss with them the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share with them the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation;  and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. In all ninety-three participants are attending these courses.
  • Four Training of Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs on SABLA, IGMSY Scheme and Use of MCP Card were organised from 06-08 April, 2011 by Regional Centre, Indore, 13-15 April, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow, 18-20 April, 2011 by Headquarters and 26-28 April, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati with the objectives to: orient the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs about the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of  Adolescent Girls – SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) of  MWCD, GOI; appraise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the AWWs and Supervisors; and impart skills in assessment, interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child. In all one hundred and fifty two participants attending these Trainings.
  • Orientation Training for Instructors of AWTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 13-21 April, 2011 with the objectives to: apprise the newly appointed Instructors of AWTCs about the ICDS Programme and its services and issues related to early childhood care and development including child health, nutrition and education; familiarize them with the training syllabi of Anganwadi Workers; and build up their training and communication skills. Twenty-three Instructors attended the training.
  • State Level Workshop on Gender Budgeting for Officials of Tamil Nadu was organised by Headquarters from 18-20 April, 2011 with the objectives to: sensitise the participants on the concept and the need for gender-based approach for budgeting; apprise them of its positive contributions to the economic and social development of the country; orient them on the tools of gender budgeting; and enable the participants to dovetail gender budget concept in projects and programme to be undertaken by them and disseminate information widely. Seventy-six participants attended the workshop.
  • Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on New WHO Child Growth Standards in ICDS and Use of MCP Card was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 19-21 April, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the Instructors of MLTCs and AWTCs to new WHO Child Growth Standards in ICDS; develop necessary skills among the participants for using the new Growth Chart; enable the Instructors to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs in plotting and using the new Growth Chart. Eighteen participants attended the training.
  • Three Training Programmes for Trainers on use of MCP Card, new WHO Child Growth Standards and Schemes of SABLA and IGMSY are being organised from 22-24 April, 2011 at Puri and 25-27 April, 2011 at Bhuvaneshwar (for two batches) on the request of State Government, Odisha with the collaboration of UNICEF. The main objective of training is to: sensitise State Level Officials of Health / Functionaries of ICDS on use of MCP Card, new WHO Growth Standards as well as SABLA and IGMSY Schemes. In all one hundred and five participants are attending these programmes.
  • Orientation Course on Adolescent Health, Family Life Education and HIV/AIDs for Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations is being organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-29 April, 2011 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of the issues relating to adolescent health and family life education including HIV/AIDS; discuss the existing strategies on adolescent health and development; enable the participants to develop skills for effective communication; and  facilitate the participants to develop holistic programmes/ project proposals for adolescent development. Twenty-nine participants are attending the programme.

  • Two Orientation Training on Establishing and Managing a Voluntary Organisations are being organised simultaneously by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-29, April, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the participants about how to establish a voluntary organization, process of Institution building, administration and management; help them learn planning and designing project proposals; orient them about ways and means of resource mobilization from various sources and effective financial management; and apprise them of techniques of good governance and to enhance their professional skills to make their programmes sustainable. In all Forty-two participants are attending these programmes.

  • Orientation Course on Identification and Prevention of Early Childhood Disabilities for Functionaries of VOs & ICDS Supervisors and Instructors of MLTCs/AWTCs was organised from 02-06 May, 2011 by Regional Centre, Indore with the objectives to:  orient participants about International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities and Handicaps (ICIDH) as defined by WHO; sensitise them about the need for recognizing  the impact of a disorder on functions and capacities of individuals; and develop basic skills in prevention of early childhood disabilities.  Twenty-two participants attended the programme.      

  • Training on Mobilisation and Management of Community Resources for Voluntary Organisations was organised from 02-06 May, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: enhance the knowledge and understanding of the participants to the techniques for mobilising and managing community resources and reduce their dependency on donor agencies by developing necessary skills and awareness to adopt the techniques as a sustainable alternative for programme implementation.  Twenty-one participants attended the Training.      

  • Two Skill Trainings of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IMNCI & Use of MCP Card were organised from 02-06 May, 2011 by Headquarters and 9-13 May, 2011 by Regional Centre, Indore with the objectives to: enhance understanding of participants on factors determining growth and development (nutrition environment and health care); orient them about the new WHO child growth standards and MCP Card; and impart skills in assessment,  interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child.  In all Forty-six participants attended these trainings.

  • Orientation Course on Adolescent Health and HIV/AIDS was organised from 09-13 May, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: enable the participants to develop an understanding of the issues relating to adolescent health including HIV/AIDS; discuss the existing strategies for promoting adolescent health and development; develop their skills in communicating effectively with adolescents and  build their capacity with the necessary techniques and skills in nutrition and health education for dealing with issues related to adolescent health and nutrition. Fourteen participants attended the course.

  • Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IYCF was organised from 09-13 May, 2011 by Regional Centre, Bangaluru with the objectives to: train the participants to be able to provide knowledge understanding and support regarding optimal infant feeding practices; and enhance their skills in counseling mothers and care givers to practice optimal infant and young child feeding as per guidelines of the Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding. Eighteen participants attended the Training.

  • Regional Consultation of the Members of Juvenile Justice Board was organised from 10-11 May, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati with the objectives to: review the status of implementation of Juvenile Justice Amendment Act 2006 by States/UTs; discuss the role and responsibilities of Principal Magistrates/Members of JJBs and State representatives; discuss the matters relating to speedy disposal of cases against children in conflict with law; and enable them to develop state specific action plan for effect implementation of Juvenile Justice Amendment Act 2006. Forty-seven participants attended the meet.

  • Three Training of Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs on SABLA, IGMSY Scheme and Use of MCP Card were organised from 10-12 May, 2011 & 24-26 May, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow and 18-20 May, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: orient the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs about the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of  Adolescent Girls – SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) of  MWCD, GOI; appraise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the AWWs and Supervisors; and impart skills in assessment, interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child. In all 108 participants attended these trainings.

  • In collaboration with Ministry of Women and Child Development, a Programme-Direct Communication with Adolescents (Seedha Samwad) on Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls (SABLA) was organised by the Institute on 11 May, 2011 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium of ITI, Rai Bareli. The programme was presided by NAC Chairperson, Smt. Sonia Gandhi. A total number of 15000 adolescent girls and women attended the programme.  

  • Consultative Meet on STEP was organised from 13 May, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to:  discuss the findings of the evaluation report; analyse the parameters on which the report has been generated by various evaluation agencies; identifying the gaps in the implementation process; and thresh out the ways and means of strengthening the programmatic inputs. Twenty-nine participants attended the programme

  • Sensitisation Programme on Prevention of Child Marriage and Sex Selective Abortion for MLTCs and AWTCs was organised from 18-20 May, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: create awareness on consequence of child marriage and sex selective abortion on overall development of the girl child; discuss and analyze the existing constitutional and legal measures against child marriage and their implementations; share best practices from the field in preventing child marriages; and evolve strategies to combat child marriages and sex selective abortion.  Twenty-one participants attended the programme

  • Training Programme on Capacity Building of Functionaries of VOs on Conceptualising and Executing a Project is being organised from 23-27 May, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: enable the participants to develop a concept of project on need based and importance of a project; enhance their knowledge base and skills in conceptualizing and executing a project; and develop their skills in cost estimation and working out mechanisms for monitoring and sustainability of a project.   • Training Programme on Managing NGOs for Sustainable Development is being organised from 23-27 May, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: strengthening the managerial capabilities of representatives of NGOs; develop skills for better management of the organization and developmental initiatives; and prepare the NGOs to face new emerging trends and make them able to keep pace with turbulence.   • Orientation Training Programme on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act, 2006 for Chairman and Members of CWCs and other Functionaries of Juvenile Justice Administration is being organised from 23-27 May, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow with the objectives to: sensitize and orient the participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2006; create clarity and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of CWCs/JJBs and  other different personnel involved in the implementation of the Act; facilitate them sharing of best practices at regional level for strengthening, implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; create awareness on the role of voluntary agencies and community as provided for in the Act; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective options assessment; and facilitate the speedy disposal of cases.   • Training of NGOs on Economic Empowerment of Tribal/Rural Women through Micro-enterprise is being organised from 23-27 May, 2011 by Regional Centre, Indore with the objectives to:  familiarize the participants with the policies and programmes of  empowerment of tribal women; discuss the role of voluntary organisations in empowerment of tribal women; acquaint the participants about how to promote micro enterprise for tribal and rural women;  impart knowledge and skills in selection of viable economic activities, credit, marketing and other support services for micro enterprise; and  develop capabilities on preparation of business plan for starting micro enterprise.  Thirty-five participants attending the programme.

  • Two Trainings of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on New WHO Child Growth Standards in ICDS, SABLA and use of MCP Card were organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 1-3 June and 22-24 June, 2011 respectively. The main objective of these training were to: orient the participants to new WHO Child Growth Standards in ICDS; develop necessary skills among them for using the new Growth Chart; and enable them to impart meaningful trainings to the Supervisors and AWWs in plotting and using the new Growth Chart. In all thirty-nine participants attended these two trainings.

  • Workshop for Teachers on Early Identification and Management of Disabilities was organised from 1-3 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: help the teachers to understand about the scholastic problems of children; familiarize them with the processes, methods of identification of children with learning problems; and build special skill and competencies in them required for early detection of academic problems and providing assistance and need based services at school setup. Forty-five participants attended the workshop.

  • Sensitisation Programme for Voluntary Organizations on Prevention of Child Marriages was organised from 01-03 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objectives to: create awareness on consequence of child marriage on overall development of the girl child; discuss and analyse the existing constitutional and legal measures against child marriage and their implementation; and analyse the situation and provide suggestive strategies to minimize the problem.  Seventeen participants attended the programme.

  • Training of Trainers for Circle Organisers of Village Defence Organisations(VDOs) under Assam Police on issues relating to Women & Children was organised from 06-08 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati with the objectives to: orient the participants to the situation of women and children in Assam with particular reference to crimes against women and children and the factors responsible for these; acquaint the participants with the various relevant legislations towards protection and rights of women and children; enable them to understand their role in prevention of these social evils; and enable them to act as Trainers for sensitising the functionaries of Village Defence Organisation on these issues.  Twenty-seven participants attended the training.

  • Training of Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs on SABLA,  IGMSY Scheme and Use of MCP Card was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 6-8 June, 2011 with the objectives to: orient the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs about the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of  Adolescent Girls – SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) of  MWCD, GOI; appraise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the AWWs and Supervisors; and impart skills in assessment,  interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child.   • Orientation Training for Voluntary Agencies on Women Specific Scheme of Ministry of Women and Child Development was organised from 06-10 June, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop clear perspectives policy and schemes for empowerment of women; orient the participants on various schemes implemented by the Ministry; provide them knowledge and skill for effective implementation of these schemes; and provide the forum for sharing the experiences of participants on the issues. Twenty-six participants attended the training.

  • Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme was organised from 6-10 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Indore with the main objectives to:  enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. Another Vertical Training Programme of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS Programme is being organised from 27 June- 1 July, 2011 by Regional Centre, Bengaluru.  In all 74 participants are attending these programmes.

  • Three Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow, Indore and Headquarters from 06-10 June, 2011 and 20-24 June, 2011 respectively.  The main objectives of these courses were to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise them about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; and update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care and sharpen their communication, counselling and managerial skills. In all eighty-seven participants attended these courses.

  • Sensitisation Programme on Prevention of Child Abuse for Officials of Education Department SCERT and SSA was organised from 7-9 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati at Shillong with the main objectives to: sensitize the Officers of Education Department/ Schools to the problem of Child abuse; make the participants aware of existing Policies and legislative measures pertaining to  protection of children from abuse; and enable the participants to take appropriate action for reducing the incidences of Child abuse in Schools.  Forty-three participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Programme on Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) for Head of Voluntary Organisations running Crèches was organised from 8-10 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants to the conceptual framework of ECCD; orient them on key care behaviours; and facilitate the participants to incorporate key care practices in the crèche programme to empower care givers. Twenty-nine participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Programme on Women’s Empowerment for Members of Women Groups was organised at Banda from 13-15 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objective to: create awareness among participants on aspects related to women rights, female foeticide and domestic violence; build capacity of participants on issues pertaining to women empowerment including SABLA and IGMSY; and to impart vocational skills among participants to enhance their family income through income generation activities.  Six hundred forty four participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Training on Planning, Designing and Resource Management of the Project was organised from 13-17 June, 2011 from Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop a perspective on the need and importance of a project; to enhance the knowledge base skills of the participants to the techniques of planning, designing effective proposals; to develop skills in planning resource requirements and working out mechanisms for monitoring and sustainability for a project; and analyse pitfalls in planning and designing project proposals.  Twenty-three participants attended the training.

  • Two programmes on Skill Trainings of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IYCF were organised from 13-17 June, 2011 by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Indore concurrently. The main objectives of training were to: sensitise the participants about the optimal infant and young child feeding practices; create awareness about the policies, programmes and plans for health and nutrition of women and children; highlight fundamental factors affecting feeding practices for infants and young children; enhance counselling skills on infants and young child feeding practices; and evolve strategies to protect, promote and support optimal infant and young child feeding practices. In all forty-one participants attended the training.

  • Regional Consultation of the Members of the CWCs was organised from 14-15 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objective to: review the status of implementation of Juvenile Justice Amendment Act  2006 by States/UTs;  discuss the roles and responsibilities of the members of CWC; highlight the importance of non-institutional services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation and social reintegration of children; identify the obstacles /difficulties in carrying out their (CWC) roles and responsibilities; and develop the State Specific Action Plan for implementation. Thirty-six participants attended the consultation.

  • Training Programme on Prevention of Trafficking of Women and Children for Functionaries of NGOs was organised from 14-16 June, 2011 by Headquarters with the objectives to: create awareness about the magnitude  of the problems of trafficking; discuss concept, trends and dimensions of trafficking; create awareness about legal provisions; familiarise the participants with the rescue operation, post rescue care and rehabilitation process; and discuss communication and counseling strategies for survivors.  Thirty two participants attended the training.

  • Consultation on Amendment of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2006 was organised from 16-17 June, 2011 by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objective to: review the provisions under different sections of Juvenile Justice Amendment Act 2006; compare norms listed in the Central Model Rules for implementation of the Act; and Identify gaps and problems and amend Juvenile Justice Amendment Act 2006. Sixty-eight participants attended the consultation.

  • Parents Education Workshop was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru on 18 June, 2011 with the objectives to: facilitate the parents on understanding about the needs of children as well as the psychological problems which may hamper the learning and behaviour in early childhood. Thirty-seven participants attended the workshop

  • Orientation Programme on Effective Management of ECCE for Personnel of Social Organisations was organised from 20-24 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the objectives to: orient the participants to the needs of children; sensitize to the role of the caretaker of the ECCE Centre; discuss the services & the effective functioning of ECCE centres; expose to the Child friendly activities; and appraise the participants to the minimum standard for ECCE centres. Twenty-three participants attended the programme.

  • Sensitization Programme for DPOs on Nutrition issues with Special Focus on Prevention and Reduction of Malnutrition in Children was organised from 21-23 June, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objective to:  enhance the understanding of the DPOs with regard to current situation of malnutrition; and to equip them with the information and skills to develop a plan of action to address malnutrition in the districts.  Twenty participants attended the programme.

  • Sensitisation Programme on Effective Implementation of PWDV Act, 2005 was organised from 23-24 June, 2011 by Headquarters at Guwahati with objective to: enhance the knowledge base of key stakeholders/implementing agencies for effective functioning of the Act; and to build capacity for better coordination, roles and understanding on the need for inter-agency response system for the effective implementation of the PWDVA.  Forty-nine participants attended the programme.

  • Vertical Training of ICDS Functionaries on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Female Foeticide, PNDT Act & Age at Marriage is being organised from 27-28 June, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to: assess the perception of ICDS functionaries on domestic violence and PWDVA 2005, female foeticide, PNDT, age at marriage; build capacity of officials and functionaries in effectively dealing with cases of domestic violence, female foeticide, law of sex selection and age at marriage; and focus on coordination with machinery under PWDVA, 2005 and prohibition of child marriage.  Thirty-six participants are attending the training.

  • Orientation Course on Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition is being organised from 27 June -1 July, 2011 by Headquarters with the objective to: orient the participants on issues relating to maternal and child health and  nutrition; and equip them with necessary techniques and skills for dealing with issues relating to  maternal and child health and  nutrition. Thirteen participants are attending the course.

  • Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Strengthening of ECE Component in ICDS is being organised from 27 June-1 July, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to: strengthen the knowledge and understanding of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on importance of early years and need of ECCD; strengthen understanding and skills of participants on activities of early childhood stimulation and ECE; and enhance skill of participants on planning and organizing ECE at AWC.  Nineteen Instructors are attending the training.

  • Job Training Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs is being organised from 04 July-02 August, 2011 by Regional Centre, Bengaluru with the main objectives to : orient the trainees about philosophy, objectives, package of services and beneficiaries of ICDS programme; familiarize them with their role and responsibilities vis-a-vis job responsibilities of other block functionaries in coordination, supervision, and management of ICDS project; discuss the recent developments and thrusts in ICDS programme; share the need, importance and strategies for convergence of services at various levels of implementation; develop their requisite skills required for guiding grass roots level functionaries in preschool education, health & nutrition and community participation;  and equip them with knowledge for effective leadership, supportive supervision and management of ICDS Projects. Eighteen participants are attending the programme.

  • Training Programme on Strategic Application of Social and Behavior Change Communication for Government Officials and Voluntary Organisations was organised from 04-06, July, 2011 by Regional Centre, Indore with the main objectives to: aware the participants on the concept of communication and communication barriers for behaviour change; make them understand the role of human behaviour in creating enabling environment for social change; share various approaches for social behaviour change communication; and orient them on communication needs in Government Schemes and how to over come the challenges. Twenty-three participants attended the programme.

  • Two Trainings of CDPOs/ACDPOs of Uttar Pradesh on SABLA and IGMSY Scheme and use of MCP Card were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 6-8 July, 20011 and 18-20 July, 2011. The main objectives of these trainings were to: provide detailed information about SABLA Scheme; make them aware about the implementation guidelines; to discuss about various components of Training Modules and to formulate action plan for effective implementation of the scheme in the state. In all two hundred and fourteen participants attended these training.

  • Refresher Course for CDPOs/ACDPOs was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 04-08 July,2011. Two more Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOs are being organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Guwahati from 25-29 July, 2011 concurrently. The main objectives of these courses are to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the State with regard to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences in implementing ICDS programme; apprise them about the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the areas of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counseling and managerial skills.  In all seventy-nine participants are trained in these courses.

  • Two Skill Trainings of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IYCF were organised from 11-15 July, 2011 by Regional Centre, Bengaluru and Regional Centre, Indore concurrently with the main objectives to: orient the participants about how to empower HIV Positive mothers to choose and practice exclusively the most suitable feeding option for her infant and to monitor IYCF programme; enhance their skills of frontline workers to provide knowledge, understanding and support regarding breastfeeding issues to mothers and families orient them about counselling mothers and caregivers to practice optimal infant and young child feeding as per guidelines of the global strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding; and orient about providing individual counseling on breastfeeding, complementary feeding, HIV and infant feeding. In all Thirty-three participants attended the programme.

  • Capacity Building Training of State Level Master Trainers on Child Rights and Protection, J.J. System and ICPS was organised from 11-15 July, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: prepare Trainers with required knowledge and skills for organizing training programmes on CRC/ICPS/JJ System; develop effective skills in training to train JJ functionaries; orient them to participatory training methods; and create a clear understanding of the provisions under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of the Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act,2006. Twenty-nine participants attended the programme.

  • Two Trainings of Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs on SABLA, IGMSY Scheme and Use of MCP Card were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 13-15 July, 2011 and Regional Centre, Guwahati from 20-22 July, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs about the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of  Adolescent Girls – SABLA & Indira Gandhi Matritava Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY) of  MWCD, GOI; appraise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the AWWs and Supervisors; and  impart skills in assessment, interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child.  In all one hundred and eight participants attended these trainings.

  • Consultative Workshop for National Mission for Empowerment of Women      (In collaboration with National Mission for Empowerment of Women) was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow on 14  July, 2011 with the objectives to: reach a common understanding of the vision, mandate and rationale of the programme; determine how institutional mechanisms such as the State Resource Centers and District Resource Centers will strengthen convergence within the government and between government and community ; evolve guidelines for the State, District and the sub-district (Tehsil and Village level) Resource Centers to optimize convergence and coordinated response; develop the capacity building framework for frontline workers and community change agents; and to deliberate on the MIS to be developed and the communication strategies and processes to be adopted for social mobilization, building an enabling environment and strengthening public education on gender. One hundred and seventeen participants attended the workshop.

  • Sensitisation Programme on Counselling and Guidance for Government School Teachers in Karnataka was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 18-20 July, 2011 with the main objectives to: discuss and understand the needs and the problems of children; orient them on the needs and importance of counselling; expose them to the principles, skills and procedures for providing counselling services; and to acquaint them with issues concerning growth and development of children. Thirty-eight participants attended the programme.

  • Awareness Generation Camps for Volunteers of NGOs on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was organised from 19-20 July, 2011 by Regional Centre, Indore with the main objectives to: Orient the participants on the provisions of the ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; aware them about the procedures for enlisting as Service Providers; and discuss on the roles and responsibilities of the Protection Officers, Service Providers and other organisations in combating Domestic Violence. Sixty-seven participants attended the programme.

  • Sensitisation Programme for Police on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2006 (in collaboration with Police Training Institute) was organised from 21-23 July, 2011 by Headquarters at Karnal with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient police officers to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2006; create clarity and understanding of their roles and responsibilities in the implementation of the Act; sensitize the police officers to deal with children in conflict with law softly and sensitively; and  facilitate the speedy disposal of cases. Thirty-two participants attended the programme.

  • Training Programme on Leadership and Sustainability of NGOs is being organised from 25-29 July, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to:  acquaint the participants about the key abilities of NGOs and orient them about balance leadership and management; make them understand the organizational competencies critical for the NGO’s ability to deliver its mission; and develop their leadership skills at personal and organizational level and also help them to learn how to prioritize different leadership styles.  Twenty-five participants are attending the programme.

  • Orientation Programme on Effective Management of ECCE for Personnel of Social Organisation is being organised from 25-29 July, 2011 by Regional Centre, Bengaluru with main objectives to: orient the participants to the needs of children; sensitize to the role of the caretaker of the ECCE Centre; discuss the services & the effective functioning of ECCE centres; expose to the child friendly activities; and appraise them to the minimum standard for ECCE centres. Thirty-nine participants are attending the programme.

  • Orientation Training Programme on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act, 2006 for Chairman and Members of CWCs and other Functionaries of Juvenile Justice Administration is being organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 25-29 July, 2011 with the main objectives to: sensitize and orient the participants to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2006; create clarity and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of CWC/JJBs and  other different personnel involved in the implementation of the Act; facilitate sharing of best practices at regional level for strengthening implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act; create awareness on the role of voluntary agencies and community as provided for in the Act; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective options assessment; and facilitate the speedy disposal of cases.   • Gender Sensitization Training Programme for School Principals/  Educationists is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 26-28 July, 2011 with the objectives to: enable  the participants to develop a clear perspective of gender issues; enrich and strengthen their sensitivity and understanding about women's development and empowerment; provide information on policies and programmes for women's development ; and equip them with appropriate instruments and approach necessary for integrating women's concern in planning, designing, monitoring, implementation of programmes on gender sensitization training.   • Orientation Programme on Promotion of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and Counselling for the Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised from 1-5 August, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objectives to: provide knowledge, understanding and support regarding breastfeeding, complementary feeding issues to mothers and families; orient them about counselling mothers and care givers to practice optimal infant and young child feeding as per guidelines of the Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child feeding; and develop skill among participants in providing individual counselling on breast feeding; and complementary feeding, HIV and infant feeing. Seventeen participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Training on Combating Gender Based Violence was organised from 1-5 August, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop clear perspectives about domestic and gender based violence, its causes, manifestation and consequences; discuss sexual violence and trafficking of women and girls; acquire necessary knowledge about laws relating to violence; workout strategies for combating gender based violence; discuss various ways and means of capacity building of violence victim; and provide a forum for sharing the experiences of participants working on gender based violence. Twenty-eight  participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Course on Juvenile Justice and ICPS for Core Faculty of NIPCCD, ICPS Staff and CPSU Staff of MWCD was organised from 2-3 August, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to:  enable the participants to develop an understanding of the Juvenile Justice System; sensitise and orient them to the main features of JJ Act and Integrated Child Protection Scheme and; their role and responsibilities in implementation of ICPS. Twenty-one participants attended the programme.           

  • Sensitization Programme for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Prevention of Micronutrient Malnutrition was organised from 2-4 August, 2011 by Regional Centre, Lucknow with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants towards the extent of problem of micronutrient malnutrition; enrich their knowledge on importance, sources and functions of various micronutrients and evolve strategies and interventions on management and prevention of micronutrient malnutrition. Twenty-one participants attended the programme.

  • The Seventh one year Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling commenced on 8 August, 2011 with the objectives to: explore and evolve attitudes, values and beliefs that facilitates work with children as mental health professionals;  acquire knowledge and understanding of theoretical constructs and socio-cultural perspectives in the context of counselling; develop skills to plan, provide and monitor-counselling interventions for children and child- related systems; and  develop skills of mobilizing resources and networking and collaborating with stakeholders. Twenty students have been registered for the course.

  • Sensitization Programme for the Functionaries of Voluntary Organisations and Government Officials on Women’s Empowerment was organised from 08-12 August, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to: familiarize the participants with the polices and programmes of women empowerment; sensitise them on gender issues and how to incorporate gender in the agenda of organisations; familiarise them on project formulation skills with gender sensitivity and information on availability of resources for women’s programmes; and share experiences of voluntary organisations and Government Departments on Empowerment of Women. Thirty-six participants attended the programme.

  • Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IMNCI and Use of MCP Card was organised from 08-12 August, 2011 by Regional Centre, Bengaluru. The main objectives of the training are to: enhance understanding of participants on factors determining growth and development of children; orient them about the new WHO child growth standards and MCP Card; and impart skills in assessment, interpretation of growth curves and counselling of mothers using MCP Card effectively for promotion of optimal growth and development of the child. Thirteen  participants attended the programme

  • Capacity Building on Counselling on IYCF Practices for Para-Medical Functionaries of Health Institutions in Private Sector was organised from 8-12 August, 2011 by Regional Centre, Guwahati with the main objectives to: make the paramedical functionaries understand different aspects of child malnutrition and importance of proper child feeding practices; enable them to gain knowledge, understanding regarding optimal infant and young child feeding practices; and enhance the capacity and skill of the paramedical staff in counselling mothers and caregivers on IYCF as the guidelines of the Global Strategy for IYCF. Twenty-seven participants attended the programme.

  • Two Vertical Training Programmes of Block Level ICDS Functionaries for Quality Improvement in ICDS were organised from 16-20 August, 2011 and 22-26 August, 2011 by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Bengaluru respectively. The main objectives of the programmes were to:  enhance the skills of CDPOs and Supervisors to act as a master trainer for providing continuing education to AWWs at project level; provide inputs to improve knowledge and skills of all ICDS functionaries at project level for quality improvement in ICDS Services; and work jointly and formulate joint action plan at project level for quality improvement of delivery of ICDS services. In all eighty participants attended these programmes.

  • Sensitisation Programme for Promoting Reproductive Rights of Women and Adolescent Girls for Agencies Working on Women’s Health Issues was organised from 17-19 August, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to: build the capacity of stakeholders in promoting reproductive health and reproductive rights of women; sharing best practices in promoting reproductive rights of women; and design campaigns to promote reproductive rights of women. Sixteen participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Course on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) was organised from  24-26 August, 2011 by Headquarters with the main objectives to: enhance the knowledge on the principles of social and behaviour change communication and setting of communication objectives for ICDS; enhance understanding related to strategic shifts in SBCC and the basic steps in conducting a perceptions study; explain and apply the SBCC planning process for developing a strategic communication; and enhance understanding of principles of monitoring and evaluation process to assess effectiveness of communication and application of the same to ICDS.  Sixteen participants attended the programme.

  • Three Orientation Training Programmes for Chairperson/Members of CWCs were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow on 12-13 September, 15-16 September and 26-27 September, 2011 respectively. The main objectives of these programmes were to: develop understanding among the participants about the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitise and orient them to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006 vis-à-vis ICPS; orient them about different roles and responsibilities being carried out by and functioning of Child Welfare Committee; make them understand to the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases; create and understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of option; and discuss relevance of non-institutional services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation &social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them. In All one hundred and thirty-seven participants attended these trainings.

  • Workshop on Developing Communication/Advocacy material for Prevention of Macro and Micronutrient Malnutrition for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 12-14 September, 2011 with the main objective to: orient the participants about the importance of prevention of macro and micronutrient malnutrition; introduce the participants to the communication/advocacy material for behaviour change; and develop communication material for prevention of macro and micronutrient malnutrition. Twenty participants attended the programme.

  • Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IMNCI and Use of MCP Card was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 12-14 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the trainers with most preventable killer illnesses and their management; help them to develop their skill in the use of MCP Cards; and make them capable in imparting training on assessment and management of the danger signs in childhood illnesses and also in use of MCP Card. Thirty-two participants attended the training.

  • Two Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on IYCF was organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Lucknow from 12-16 September, 2011 and 19-23 September, 2011 respectively. The main objectives of these trainings programme were to: develop and strengthen the knowledge and understanding of participants on optimal infant and young child feeding practices; and development and strengthen their training skill for counselling mothers and care givers to practice optimal infant and young child feeding as per guidelines of the Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeing. In all thirty-nine participants attended these trainings.

  • Training on Micro Enterprise and Small Business Development for Trainers of SHGs of Western States was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 12-16 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the participants on gender issues with special focus on economic empowerment; orient them on existing support available for micro enterprise and small business development by women groups; draw attention on critical issues and constraints in micro-enterprise and small business development; and discuss the role of trainers for building the capacity of SHGs for women. Thirty-five participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Training on Juvenile Justice Act and Integrated Child Protection Scheme(ICPS) for JJBs, CSCs, SPSU, SCPS, DCPS Personnel was organised by Headquarters at Chandigarh from 16-17 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the participants to the JJ Act, 2006 and ICPS and also help them to understand the roles and responsibilities in implementation of the Act and ICPS; equip them to implement ICPS in the State as well as develop State/District Child Protection Plans; enable them to deal and dispose cases speedily; and facilitate them to appreciate the linkages between neglect, abuse and deprivation and its impact on the personality development of children. Sixty-eight participants attended the training.

  • Workshop for School Teachers on Identification and Management of classroom behaviour problems was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru on 17 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the participants towards the psychosocial needs of the children; sensitise them about the scholastic problems of children and its management; and orient them on the need and importance of early intervention. Twenty-seven teachers attended the programme.

  • Training of Trainers on SABLA, IGMSY and New WHO Child Growth Standard was organised by Headquarters on the request of Government of Goa at Goa from 17-19 September, 2011. The main objectives of the training were to: orient the participant s about SABLA and IGMSY Schemes of GOI; and apprise them of their role and responsibility in creating the awareness among the ICDS functionaries. Sixty-five participants attended the training.

  • Training on Counselling Skills and Support Services for the Counsellors of Women Help Lines was organised by Headquarters from 19-22 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants about gender based violence; familiarise them about existing laws, programmes and support services for distressed women; identified problems of distress women and develop effective counselling techniques; strengthen communication and negotiation skills among helpline counsellors; aware them about guidelines of hipline counselling; and develop effective networking and coordination among NGOs and institutions to provide support services to distress women. Thirty-one participants attended the training.

  • Leadership Development in Nutrition and Health Care for Women: Capacity Building of Functionaries of Government and Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 19-23 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to acquire necessary skills and knowledge for identification of issues on nutrition and health; understand role, rights and responsibilities of women functionaries to develop capacity for active participation on Nutrition and Health Care for Women; promote leadership skills, and strength capacities for cooperation network with line departments; develop knowledge and skills about various training methods and techniques for effective organisation of capacity building training; motivation and team work for leadership process of vision formulation for effective implementation polices and programmes; and discuss the method/techniques to prepare regional and national level nutritional security status of women and children and formulate plans and strategies involving different institutions. Thirty participants attended the programme.

  • Sensitisation Training on Protection of Women Against Domestic Violence for College/University Teachers was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-23 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: discuss the trends in domestic violence over the past decades and the measures adopted to combat it; orient them on the provisions of the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; and enable them to take a proactive role in bringing about awareness among the students on the issue. Thirty-one participants attended the programme.

  • Training of Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs on SABLA, IGMSY Scheme and Use of MCP Card was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 20-22 September, 2011 with the main objectives to: equip the participants with the details of SABLA, IGMSY and MCP card; and share the training modules developed under SABLA. Twenty-eight participants attended the training. Another Training of Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs on SABLA, IGMSY Scheme and Use of MCP Card is being organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 26-28 September, 2011. Fifteen participants are attending the training.

  • Workshop on Monitoring and Supervision of ICDS Scheme for the Consultants of Selected Institutions and SMU was organised by Headquarters on 24 September, 2011 at Bengaluru with the objectives to: discuss the tasks required to be performed by the selected state monitoring institutions; and discuss the financial support available for the proposed monitoring. Twenty-five participants attended the workshop.

  • A one month Certificate Course on Child Rights and Child Protection is being organised by Headquarters from 26 September – 25 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: prepare trainers on CRC with required knowledge and skills for organising training programmes on the subject; contribute to building of cadre of trainers to help build capacity within different training Institutions and disciplines; and help promote child rights based approaches in policy and programme development concerning children and in all training programmes of all functionaries. Fifteen participants attending the course.

  • Two Refresher Courses for CDPOs/ACDPOswere organised by Headquarters and Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 10-14 October and 17-21 October, 2011 respectively. The main objectives of the courses were to: review the implementation of ICDS programme in the States/ UTs with regards to its various aspects; provide a forum for sharing of experiences to the participants; apprise them on the recent developments and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development; and sharpen the skills in communication, counselling and the management. In all thirty-seven participants attended the course.

  • Two Orientation Trainings for Masters Trainers on SABLA Scheme were organised simultaneously in two batches by Regional Centre, Guwahati in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of Assam from 10-14 October, 2011. The main objectives of the programmes were to: orient the participants on the SABLA Scheme; and make them to understand about the plan of implementation. In all fifty-eight participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Programme on Total Quality Management of Crèche Services for Executives and Middle Level Functionaries from Governmental and Non-Governmental Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 10-14 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: acquaint the participants to the concept of total quality management in crèche services; provide a perspective on needs of the children; facilitate development of viable strategies for providing high quality crèche services; and discuss the role of management and the crèche workers for effective service delivery . Fifteen participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Training Programmes on Micro-finance and Income Generation Issues for NGOs associated with RMK was organised at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 10-14 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the members of NGO’s  to the objectives, beneficiaries, coverage and the scope of RMK schemes for empowerment of women; acquaint the participants to the concept of micro finance and its relevance to SHG movement; help the participants to understand the role of NGOs as micro finance organizations for supporting and guiding the SHGs for undertaking viable income generation activities; and develop the skills of the NGOs availing Micro-Credit facilities from RMK in effective financial management and reporting. Seven participants attended the programme.

  • Consultation Meet on ICPS for Senior Government Officials/Nodal Officers was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 12 -13 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: review the status of implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) amendment Act 2006 and it’s Rules 2007; and orient them on the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS). Thirty-four participants attended the Programme.

  • Two Orientation Training for Chairpersons/Members of Child Welfare Committee were organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 12-13 October and 18-19 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: develop understanding among the participants on the situation of children in India and challenges faced by children for their holistic development; sensitise and orient them to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006; orient them about the functioning of CWCs and the role and responsibilities of Chairperson and Members of CWCs; create an understanding of the concept of rehabilitation and social reintegration and to enable effective assessment of options; discuss relevance of non-institutional services under the Act to facilitate effective rehabilitation and social reintegration of children including difficulties faced by them; and learn the role of different stakeholders as provided in the Act and to understand the mechanisms for speedy disposal of cases. In all fifty-five participants attended the training.  

  • Orientation Training for Members of Juvenile Justice Board was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 17-18 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the members of JJBs to the juveniles Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000 and its Amendment Act, 2006 vis-à-vis ICPS; create clarity and understanding in them about their roles and responsibilities in implementation of the Act; and help them to facilitate the speedy disposal of cases. Twenty-one participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Training on Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) was organised by Headquarters from 17-21 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: enable the participants to develop better understanding of various aspects of child development, particularly in the context of children between 0-6 years; sensitise them to develop and understand the concept of Early Childhood Care and Development and develop appropriate programmes; and facilitate them to develop viable strategies to make qualitative assessment of Early Childhood Development Programmes. Twenty-one participants attended the programme.

  • Sensitisation Programme for Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Prevention of Micronutrient Malnutrition was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 18-20 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: sensitise the participants towards the problem of micronutrient deficiency disorders; enrich their knowledge on different aspects of micronutrient  deficiency disorders; and develop lesson plan for training of AWWs on prevention and management of micronutrient malnutrition. Sixteen participants attended the programme.

  • Orientation Training on Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) for Head of Voluntary Organisations running Creches was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow 18-20 October, 2011 with the main objective to: familiarize the participants to the conceptual framework of ECCD; orient them on key care behaviours; and to facilitate the participants to incorporate key care practices in the daily routine activities of crèches. Eighteen participants attended the programme.

  • Consultation Meet to Finalise the Curricula/Syllabi for different functionaries of SCPS/DCPS was organised by Headquarters from 20-21 October, 2011 at Bengaluru with the main objectives to: discuss the role and responsibilities of various categories of functionaries working at SCPS and DCPS; review the curricula/syllabi developed for training of different functionaries of SCPS and DCPS keeping in view the training needs of each category of these functionaries; and suggest modifications towards finalizing the curricula/syllabi. Thirty-six participants attended the Meet.  

  • Workshop for the Parents on Identification & Management of Behaviour Problem among Children was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru on 20 October, 2011 with the main objectives to: facilitate the participants on understanding about the needs of children as well as the psychological problems which may hamper the learning and behaviour in early childhood. Forty-seven participants attended the workshop.

  • Orientation Training on Counselling and Case Intervention for the Functionaries of SJPU was organised by Regional Centre, Indore from 1-4 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: discuss the role of SJPU functionaries in dealing with children in conflict with law and in need of care and protection; upgrade communication skills in dealing with children; make the participants aware on the concept and methods of case intervention; and impart knowledge to enhance counselling skills. Thirty-eight participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Course on Prevention of Micro-nutrients Malnutrition for Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 2-4 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient participants towards the magnitude of micronutrient malnutrition; educate them on types, functions, sources, causes, symptoms and management of micronutrient deficiency disorders; and identify the areas of intervention and strategies for management of micronutrient deficiency disorders. Thirty participants attended the programme.

  • Consultation on Amendment of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006 was organised by Headquarters from 3-4 November, 2011 at Lucknow with the main objective to: review the provision of JJ (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 and its Amendment Act 2006; deliberate on the challenges in implementation of the JJ Act; and suggest amendments to the Act in order to enhance child care and protection measures. Thirty participants attended the Consultation.

Twenty participants attended the workshop.

  • Awareness Generation Camp for School Children on Child Rights and Protection was organised by Regional Centre, Indore on 14 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: discuss the problems and challenges aced by children to derive specific issues of child rights and protection to be focused; and aware the children on provisions of CRC and national initiatives for child rights and child protection including various legal instruments and services for child protection. Two hundred twenty five participants attended the camp.

  • Upgrading Counselling Skills of Counsellors Working with Children in Distress was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 14-15 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: fine tune micro skills of counselling amongst the participants; enhance information on supportive approaches of counselling; and equip them to handle emotional fatigue. Thirty-two participants attended the training.

Forty-one participants attended the training.

  • Consultation Meet on Food Safety Standards in Supplementary Nutrition Programmes for Government Officials and Representatives of Voluntary Organisations was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 15-16 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: review the food safety measures adopted in supplementary nutrition programme; identify the key issues for developing implementation guidelines; and discuss the core content for developing training module on effective of food safety measures in ICDS. Forty-nine participants attended the programme.

  • Training of Trainers of AWTCs/MLTCs on Developmental Delays in Children was organised by Regional Centre, Lucknow from 15-17 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: equip trainers with information regarding developmental milestones, developmental delays and interventions; acquaint them with the checklist on developmental delays; and facilitate the m to incorporate contents of developmental delays with the existing syllabus/topics of job training course. Twenty participants attended the training.

  • Orientation Training on Child Rights and Child Protection for School Principals was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 17-18 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: orient the participants regarding the child Rights and its implications, policies and legislations related to children; and orient them on current child protection issues. Twenty-nine participants attended the training.

  • Regional Consultation on Enhancing the Rates of Optimal IYCF was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow in collaboration with BPNI on 21 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: share effective capacity building experience of states in promoting optimal IYCF practices; discuss issues related to convergence of action to promote optimal IYCF practices; and develop strategies and plans-of-action to promote optimal IYCF practices. Thirty-one participants attended the programme.

  • Skill Training of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on Strengthening ECCE Components in ICDS was organised by Regional Centre, Bengaluru from 21-25 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: strengthen the knowledge and understanding of Instructors of AWTCs/MLTCs on importance of early years and need of ECCD; strengthen their understanding skills on activities of early childhood stimulation and PSE; and strengthen their skill on planning and organizing PSE activities at AWC. Fifty participants attended the training.

  • Training of Officials of Krishi Vigyan Kendras on Issues Related to Women and Children was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-25 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: sensitise the KVK officials on emerging issues related to women and children; make them aware about different welfare policies, programmes an schemes related to women and children; and acquaint them on issues related to nutrition, health, education, rehabilitation and empowerment of women and children. Seventeen participants attended the training.

  • Refresher Training for ICDS Supervisor was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati from 21-25 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: assess training needs of the Supervisors; provide them a forum for sharing experiences in implementing ICDS Programme; apprise them of recent development and trends in ICDS programme; update their knowledge in the area of early childhood care and development including nutrition and health care; and sharpen their communication, counselling and managerial skills. Thirty participants attended the training.

  • Parental Education Workshop was organised by Regional Centre, Guwahati on 23 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: develop an understanding among the parents about the needs of children during their developmental stage; acquaint them with appropriate parenting skills; and help parents in helping children with common learning and behavioural problems during childhood. Fifty-three participants attended the workshop.

  • Consultation Meet to Finalise Curriculum/Syllabi for Different Functionaries of SCPS/DCPS was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Lucknow from 22-23 November, 2011 with the main objectives to: discuss the role & responsibilities of various categories of functionaries working at SCPS/DCPS; review the curricula/syllabi develop0ed for training of different functionaries of SCPS/DCPS, keeping in view the training needs of each category of these functionaries; and suggest modifications to words finalizing the curricula/syllabi.   • Sensitisation Programme for Nominated members of Executive Council and General Body of the Institute on Issues Related to Women and Children was organised by Headquarters at Regional Centre, Indore on 26 November, 2011. The main objective of the programme was to: orient the nominated members of the Executive Council and General Body of the Institute about NIPCCD, its genesis, vision, areas of concern, programme thrust areas and initiatives undertaken in the field of women and child development; acquaint them about policies and programmes for women and children initiated by MWCD, GOI; and make them aware about issues relating to women and children. Eleven nominated members attended the training.
